We love renting from the Bartlett Lake Marina in the summer and heading out for a day of fun on the lake! Always a great way to cool off in the Hot AZ summer and fun for all!

At the moment, the lake is suffering from the drought, and lake levels are probably 20-feet or more below that pictured in many of the photos.

There are many places to put in boats, with ramps and a marina, but there are also places that are restricted to human powered watercraft and focus more on the desert experience or picnic areas by the lake. We were there in February, when the temperatures were in the high 70s. Clearly this is a destination for locals when it gets hot in the summer -- there were 3 rows of picnic shelters (maybe 10 shelters per row) where we spent time at Rattlesnake Cove. The parking lots are huge, but in February, there are less than 10-cars in the parking lot.

The lake itself has lots of boats and other powered watercraft zipping around, and can be quite crowded when it gets warmer. The area around it, part of the Tonto National Forest, has all kinds of roads and trails suitable for 4-wheeled off road vehicles, and we saw a great many of them on the paved roads, some trailered, some street-legal and on the road, many quite high end (lots of money in Carefree, lots of ORV users).

I find Bartlett Reservoir a pleasant place when it's not crowded. In the summer, when it's hot, it gets crowded with too much beer and too many powered watercraft.

I'll note that whoever created this entry misspelled the name of the area: Bartlett Lake, a.k.a. Bartlett Reservoir has the letter "T" in the middle.

Bartlett Lake is our new favorite camping spot. We were able to camp directly on the waters edge. We setup about 20ft off the water. Make sure you check what is happening with the water levels. It was going up about a foot each night at the tie we were there, end of September. We got lucky, it was 4 ft from the rv the day we left. One more day and we would have had to move up. Great water temperature for swimming. We stayed Sunday thru Saturday. It was quiet and just a couple of campers until Thursday afternoon. Then the locals literally converged on the area. We used that as our people watching time. It was quite a spectacle. Be prepared, they park right on top of each other. There is no personal space here. But all are very friendly so no worries. We rented a pontoon boat from Bartlett Marina. The staff is incredibly accommodating and friendly. We are going to make this trip a yearly or more trip for sure. You do need to stop and pay for your activity before going to the park.

Great marina, easy to work with staff, not crowded, and so calm & peaceful! Our first visit, we were impressed. Plan to make it a regular location for pontoon use & fishing! A bit hard to find the location but we'll worth it!

Whether you live in Arizona or visiting, renting a pontoon boat on Bartlett Lake is a great half or full day adventure. Bartlett is close to Metro Phoenix but far enough to get away. It is a smaller lake that is never too crowded but creates a large amount of fun. There is a friendly staff at the marina waiting to help you.

Rented a pontoon boat that was in excellent condition. Went tubing with the kids and had a blast. Gasoline costs were reasonable. Staff was friendly and helpful. We will rent here again. We had a great time.

This was a fantastic day. Everything was very organized. Pontoon was in excellent condition, Lake is beautiful. Many little coves to anchor and swim. The folks at the marina were very helpful and thorough.

The only thing is is that the walk from parking lot is VERY long and even with the handy wheel barrel transports, it is a long walk for us seniors. We were not told that they could open the gate to let us down to the water to unload. They did tell us upon checking out they would open gate and allow us to bring truck down to load up our stuff. . They need to arrange a shuttle rom the parking lot to marina. Other than that all was fantastic.

Great time on the lake with four grandkids. Beautiful scenery, perfect weather. Enjoyed having a Bimini for some shade. Gasoline costs were surprisingly low.

The pontoon boat we rented for a full day was in very bad shape. The speakers didn't work, the battery died on us while miles away from the marina, and the anchor provided did not work with the windy conditions. (10-15 mph). The young man who explained how to operate the boat had poor customer service also. The only reason I didn't give this a 1 star, is because the manager didn't charge us for gas. Our "full day" on the pontoon boat ended up being 3 hours. I wouldn't recommend.
