Carefree Sundial

Another great thing to see in Carefree AZ. It showed exactly 11:00 on the sundial and our watches! Very interesting.

Don;t make a special trip from Phoenix for this, but if you venture to Carefree, put this on your list. It is really cool how it is constructed. Life-size so you can walk around on it and get a better idea how it works.

We visited the carefree sundial and gardens in the late afternoon and it was perfect timing to see their lights on all their cactus. They also had a fun playground at the other side which was perfect for the kids. We easily spent a couple of hours.

Don't know if this is large enough, but it is good sized. Plenty of people around to make it difficult to get a good picture.

It's a Sundial with a small water pool behind it. There are chairs to sit on near by. Many shops around the sundial.

Carefree, AZ is a cute little town sandwiched between North Scottsdale and the great Cowboy Town of Cave Creek. Carefree has shops, restaurants, grocery store etc. Fun to visit.

They held the enchanted pumpkin garden here and it was very nice. I've honestly seen better but it was good for the kids, small event. You walk around town center and look at the pumpkin carvings, very intricate. There were some food trucks and the restrooms are in the center.

The sundial is located in a very beautiful landscaped area of Carefree's shopping district. Apparently, it's one of the biggest in the United States. After vieweing the sundial one can stroll around the shops or walk among the desert plantings...nearby is a giant lizard slide that kids will love.

We stopped here on our way home to see the Elephant San Sculpture and saw and Owl one as well. Stunning! Of course we had to go see the Sundial as well!

This tiny sleepy town is fun to walk through. Just a few restaurants, art galleries and knick knack shops. Park has a playground and a water park for kiddos.
