Went on a van tour with Brooke and Vadele (cousins). This excursion was booked through Oceania cruises while visiting Wrangell. They took us to Shake Chief lodge house. There we met an elder who told us of the history of the place and people. Then off to The Wrangell Museum (a must)! Both young women new their history and personal stories to round out the experience. Then off to Petroglyph Beach where we made rubbings and located petroglyphs from time immemorial. What a grand experience!!!

My wife and two daughters (19, and 21) visited the Anan Bear Observatory in July, 2020. Although the weather was rainy, I highly recommend this trip for anyone within the recommended age limit. It was an amazing experience. We saw both black and brown bears fishing for salmon in the stream. Alaska Waters provided an safe and comfortable experience. We were provided with a knowledgeable guide and the observatory has two park rangers at all times.

The team at Alaska Waters is all local and extremely knowledgeable. You have the feel of a wilderness trek while riding in the comfort of a modern jet boat with all the required amenities to the government viewing site at Anan Creek. Then a short hike brings an unbelievably close safe encounter with many bears enjoying their salmon feast.

The Anan Bear & Wildlife Observatory tour was the highlight of our vacation in Alaska. The boat was very comfortable. I had been a little nervous about the walk to the observation area due to the warnings given for people who are afraid of heights or have balance issues, but we found the walk to be easy and pleasant. It was raining lightly during our walk and the forest smelled so fresh. At the observation area, we saw many black bears catching and eating salmon. Each bear had his own way of catching the fish and it was fascinating to watch. Some bears came quite close and we got great pictures. We also saw many eagles, both on the walk to the observation area and at the observation area. The guides were friendly and knowledgeable. This was a once in a lifetime experience for us. I highly recommend it.

We were on an Alaska Dream Cruise and they organized a tour in Wrangell by Alaskan Waters. It was wonderful. The Aunt and Niece duo were so knowledgeable, fun and engaging. I loved hearing about their lives in Wrangell, the town’s history, visiting the petroglyphs and doing rubbings.

The Stikine River trip was wonderful. My husband and I always had a dream of going up the Stikine River. We had one little challenge to worry about…my husband’s physical challenges. His knees require him to walk with two canes. We spoke with Alaska Waters when booking our trip. They were wonderful. When arriving, the guides were so kind and patient as my husband went down the ramp and boarded the boat. The seating was very comfortable the entire trip. They always maneuvered the boat so my husband never missed out on the special sights through the trip. The captain was excellent and shared many interesting facts and answered all our questions. Last of all, the beauty of the Stikine River, its lush green tributaries, icebergs and Stikine glacier, wildlife, and how peaceful and secluded one feels the further up the River you travel is what made this trip extraordinary! My next venture will be the LaConte Glacier Excursion!

We were able to get a last minute booking with this company by visiting their store front in Wrangell and they were such a pleasure from the very beginning to very end. Customer service from the ladies at their store was awesome and our tour crew was also very solid. Everyone made you feel safe and welcome.
Once we got off the boat our guides escorted us along the trail while explaining our surroundings and giving us nature lessons here and there, and when we encountered a mama bear with her cubs on the trail they handled the situation smoothly.
The observation site and blind was even better than expected! We saw at least 2-3 bears the entire time and sometimes up to 10 eating and meandering up and down the hillside.
There’s really nothing like this immersive wildlife experience!

We enjoyed a cultural stop in Wrangell and enjoyed an informative and fun trip to the museum and the petrograph beach. Our guide Brooke was fantastic - enthusiastic and engaging. In the afternoon we had a exciting boat ride up the Stikine River. Their boat and tour was superb - captain James and their interpreter were a lot of fun. We highly recommend.

Our excursion to Anan Observatory was a fun ride across the waters. Upon arrival we were safely led along the path to the observatory. 3 hours viewing the gluttonous black bears had shutters clicking constantly. We always felt safe and our guides were very knowledgeable and helpful. Highly recommend Alaska Waters!!!

An awesome day. Our guide Glen was very knowledgeable about the area, and shared a lot of information about the history of the creek as well as the bears that we saw. The bears were amazing as well, and Glen made sure to set us up for a safe and once in a lifetime experience. Hope to be able to get out with this amazing company again!
