One of the last pristine rivers!

I would recommend having Brenda of Alaskan Charters and Adventures give a tour. The river is where John Muir fell in love with Alaska.

This was a wonderful cruise excursion to the Shakes Glacier. We had two very knowledgeable guides on the jet boat. Saw a few seals, but still early in the season. Fun to watch the boat work its way through the the icebergs to get to the glacier.

Cruising the Stikine River is a serene experience. The majestic and rugged mountains surrounding the river are breathtaking to say the least. Also the colour of the glaciers in the water are so beautiful. I highly recommend this tour

Loved this, better than I thought it would be. The glacier was beautiful. We saw 50 or so harbor seals. We also saw 2 goats and 2 eagles. No bears, but it was Sept 1, so we weren't expecting any.

We went on a 5 day rafting/camping adventure down the Stikine River with Alaska Vistas and it was a blast. Our gear was all transported for us up river to Telegraph Creek, BC and we got to enjoy a preview of the trip to come the next day as we flew in small planes 160 miles up the river to... More

Took a jet boat ride up the Stikine River during a cruise and stopped at the base of a beautiful glacier. The whole trip took four hours. Magnificent scenery along the river and near the glacier. Went with Captain Mark Gala of "Alaska Peaks and Seas", but booked through our cruise ship and the Stikine River Jet Boat Assoc. Captain... More

A nice jet bait ride up the Stikine river with some good scenery but were unable to go into the smaller rivulets as suggested. Only landed on a sandbar for lunch ( no bathroom facilities) instead of a 'cabin'. The commentary was a bit forced - trying to find things to point out. Okay but no wow factor

This is a must-do. It's a popular getaway for locals with good reason -- I've been up the river three times now in a decade (each trip to Wrangell includes a river run) and I haven't become bored with it. Gorgeous, family-friendly. We recommend Breakaway Adventures.
