My husband, 17-year-old son and I took this excursion while we were in Whittier. It really was a highlight of our vacation. It is thrilling but not for the faint of heart.
Once you reach Blackstone Bay it is stunningly beautiful. It was so much fun to watch harbor seals popping their heads in between ice from the glacier.
My son said this was the best part of our entire vacation. Thank you for that,
If I had any suggestions it would relate to perhaps slowing down in Blackstone Bay to take in the scenery instead of traveling 50 to 55 miles an hour just to reach the main points on the tour. Also doing 40+ miles an hour in rough waves is difficult. When members of the group are falling behind, the guide in front should slow down instead of the guide in the rear telling everyone to close the gap. When someone is going as fast as they can for the conditions they should not feel pressured to catch up. We still made it back 15 minutes early so time was not an issue. We have been jet skiing in rough waves before so we understand you have to keep some speed up.
This is the only reason I am not rating this as excellent.
Overall I do recommend this excursion as long as you don’t have anybody too young or with any health conditions.

It's a good thing they don't have a "pay what you think it was worth once we're done" policy because I would've emptied my bank accounts after doing this. One of the most incredible experiences, truly once in a lifetime. It's expensive, yes, but worth every penny. If you're worried about falling in, don't be. If you're worried about being cold, don't be. Not only was it fun, exhilarating, and unique, but other than some slightly cold fingers and toes, we were completely comfortable (and felt safe) the whole time. There's so few places in the world you can do something like this, so if you're in Alaska and thinking about it, JUST DO IT.

First trip to Alaska and this was our first choice of excursions once we flew in and it didn’t disappoint us!!
Wife was alittle uneasy about seadoos in the ocean but after 20 min you couldn’t pull her off..
The staff is patient and truly love their jobs..
The machines, dry suits etc are all top of the line as they buy new water craft every year..
You running on the water for 3 hrs with stops along the way allowing plenty of time to see the sights. If it’s real cold or just cold blooded ask for a onesy fleece suit to wear under your dry suit.
You have the choice to drive your own ski or ride 2 up if your not sure about controlling your own ski.
I would highly recommend this adventure!!

The highlight of our Alaska trip was the Glacier Jet Ski Adventure Tour. The glaciers and views were amazing and unforgettable in addition to our tour guides. The owner, himself, was a guide and it was very apparent that they wanted to make sure we were safe, following policy and instructions in addition to enjoying the tour. The whole experience was outstanding as the scenery was breathtaking and the guides were extremely knowledgeable and friendly. We had some experience with jet skiing, so they allowed us to go faster than probably others which also made it fun. We highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Alaska - it was the highlight of our trip!

This was one of the best trips we took in Alaska. We were a group of 6 all in our low 70’s. Some of us were a little fearful. But the owner, Charlie, outfitted us in dry suits, waterproof booties, helmets and life vests. The jet skis are top of the line -being new every year. He then spent a bit of time explaining how to be safe on the water. We listened carefully and followed his instructions and had a very safe rewarding experience. James led the group out with Charlie following making sure all were comfortable and we stopped a few times on the way out to make sure all were doing okay. We lucked out with a beautiful day with calm waters. Getting to the glaciers was amazing. We rode around ice in the water, listened and saw some calving of the glaciers and then got close to fantastic waterfalls. Charlie took pictures of us all and sent them to us. We all thought it was a lifetime experience. Don’t pass this trip up - but be willing to listen and follow instructions to be safe. This is a top notch company!

What a thrilling adventure along the western edge of Prince William Sound to the rugged and beautiful fjord of Blackstone Bay. We traveled about 40-50 miles on jetski, checking in on waterfalls, navigating little icebergs, and listening in awe to the cracking of the tidewater glaciers. From the very beginning, our guides Dani and Beth were friendly, laid back, and patient, helping us gear up for the cold and sharing their recommendations. They both have such a chill vibe even as they emphasized safety and having fun without being dangerous. They took multiple pictures of us and shared them after the trip -- a phenomenal gift of documenting a monumental day. Our only wish concerned one of the other participants who was assigned the position in front of us and wouldn't/couldn't keep up with the group, which meant we were stuck going more slowly and arrived at the destination places after everyone else. When the bay is a mirror, zipping along at top speeds is part of the thrill! But two thumbs up for our guides and this company!

This was such an incredible experience! Charlie and Rebecca made sure every part of our trip was epic and amazing. I would highly recommend doing this tour while in Alaska - by far the best part of our great Alaska trip. We love supporting small business’ and Glacier Jetski Adventures is obviously a family owned company built with love and respect for their local area!

Wow! What a unique experience! We just got back from 9 days in Alaska. We saw and did so many fun things, but Glacier Jetski Adventures out of Whittier was the most exciting and unforgettable. There are many ways to view and experience glaciers, but nothing quite like jetting through a beautiful narrow fjord surrounded by waterfalls and glaciers. We were even fortunate enough to have a whale encounter. Charlie and Dani were the best guides you could ask for, and even on a cold rainy day, we were dry and comfortable with all the great gear they provide. 5 stars for sure and highly recommended.

If you're planning a trip to Whittier, you absolutely must go on the Jet Ski tour. Our experience was incredible! The guides were exceptional and made it one of the best tours we've ever taken. They picked us up from the cruise terminal and dropped us off after the tour. We rode in and around the ice, saw beautiful glaciers, and even got up close to waterfalls. Despite only having ridden a Jet Ski once before, around 20 years ago, I felt safe and supported throughout the tour thanks to the guides. We even got to see harbour seals and otters up close! The communication in the weeks leading up to the tour was excellent; we gave it a perfect rating of 10/10. Although we were initially worried about booking an independent tour instead of a cruise excursion, our concerns were unfounded. The company understands the importance of ensuring cruise passengers return on time. We were also pleasantly surprised when the owner's son "Mason" joined us on the bus ride back to the Jetski office and shared fascinating history about Whittier. Overall, it was an amazing experience and we had an absolute blast on this tour. We highly recommend booking this tour for a once-in-a-lifetime experience! Tamara 😊

The last time I was on a jetski was my first time about 20 yrs ago. Suffice it to say I am an inexperienced jetski operator. Dani and James were great at coaching me and I found myself easily going 45-54 miles per hr after warming up. The scenery of Blackstone Bay was breathtaking and having the ability to get closer to the glaciers than any boat made the tour worthwhile. To give you an idea of how close we were to the glaciers we had to navigate mini icebergs that calved off the glaciers. Dani was also excited to point out glaciel waterfalls to us. The company also outfits you in a drysuit, booties, helmet, and personal flotation device. Prior to the date of your excursion you are also emailed a detailed set of instructions of what they will provide and what you should wear. This outfit is thorough to say the least. All the pictures they take of you are free, you can’t beat that hospitality. Don’t forget to tip the guides, they are worth it. If you are looking for a once in a lifetime exhilarating experience, this is it, you won’t forget it.

Hi, are you able to ride on a jet ski with someone for this tour, or do you have to operate your own? Thanks!
Written July 15, 2020
You have a choice of operating your own or riding as a passenger with a friend. The guides do not take passengers with them. I am mid-fifties and NOT a super adventurous person but I had a blast! They teach you how to operate the jet ski at the beginning and you get a quick feel for it.

Is it necessary a specific license to guide?

Hi there - are you able to go 2 up on the Jetski or do you have to go on individual ones? Thanks. Looks like an awesome trip.

What is the proper etiquette for tipping on an excursion like this? My friend tells me if the owner takes you do not tip. I don’t really feel comfortable with that so to settle a dispute I was wondering what your opinion was. I have never heard of that before.

Hello and thank you for your question! I want to first say that discussing tipping is always a sensitive subject, especially with this one because I am the owner and also lead guide on the majority of our trips. Standards of Tipping vary greatly region to region and even person to person, knowing that I can only offer my customs for tipping when I’m a client myself. Glacier Jetski Adventures truly appreciates every client no matter what their individual customs are when it comes to tipping!
When I am a client and feel that I have received a high standard of customer service and care then I tip accordingly no matter what title the person carries within the company. In the end I just do what makes me feel good.
When you show up at a place that provides you with a high quality experience usually there are people behind the scenes or a team of guides working together to provide that. At our small family company we split tips evenly to make sure that everybody involved with the success of the trip gets a “thank you” not just the lead guide for the day. Usually if I the owner are the lead guide and a person tips we’ll buy an end of day beer and split up the majority between the tail guide and office staff. So in our case even though you might hand the money to me (or anyone of our crew) you are tipping the entire staff for your experience.
Thanks!
Charlie

I’m interested in this jet ski adventure. My son will be 11 when we take our trip to Alaska.
Can an 11 year old ride with me/an adult on the jet ski?
He’s on a swim team so he’s a great swimmer (if that’s a concern).
Thank you much in advance.

NO jet ski experience necessary! Must be 16 or older and have a drivers license to operate a jet ski. This is an exciting hands on trip covering over 60 miles on a jet ski, we strongly suggest being in good physical condition for this adventure. (A minimum of 2 bookings is required for a tour to operate.)
