We stayed here 2 nights. We stayed on the 14th floor facing the water. The view was amazing! You can see the whole town from here. The condo is dirty, old and smelly. Half of the room is modernized but the kitchen, bathroom and furnishings look like the 70's. This defiantly was the worst place we stayed in Alaska. The... More

First off, June, the manager, was awesome. This was a very interesting place to stay. The first 12 stories of this building are home to about 80% of the town of Whittier with the top two stories rented out to tourists. Each condo is fully furnished complete with dishes and such. You could live here easily for a few weeks.... More

I'm not sure why I'm reviewing a condo complex - however it is extremely interesting and historical. Non-residents can enter the 1s floor where the city offices are and the top two floors where there is a bed and breakfast. About 225 people live here, most of the town. It is a must see in Whittier just for its uniqueness.

Begich Towers was originally built for the military. Now transformed into city within a city. Housing, post office, businesses the list goes on. Sound in the hallways carries easily but no one seems to mind. Apartments are old and outdated but comfortable. The people who live there are friendly. A piece of Alaskan history.

Do not stay here. There ad on Expedia was very misleading. The accommodations were uncomfortable and dirty. The service was non-existent.

June was super sweet, but the facility was very unpleasant. Our apartment was dusty, hot, dirty, old, crammed with odd furniture and bric-a-brac, windows that didn't stay open, no internet, leftover opened food, musty bedding, and a strong, stale smell of cigarettes as the elevator door opened onto other floors. The entrance to the building was off-putting: no address or... More

At one time the entire town of Whittier resided in this building. You stay in condos that some owners rent out. It took a little searching to find the lady in order to check in. Once found, however, she was very friendly and helpful. Although I was NOT on a honeymoon, I was in the Honeymoon suite on the 14th... More

This drab building is the only thing in town for the 400 year round residents. It is a post office, police station, grocery store, etc. Not worth the time to see.

After walking around the harbor where we saw a seal, we had about an hour to kill before the cruise so a local resident recommended the playground here. Someone in the building let our kids use the restroom which was clean. Then we took a short walk to the creek. A peaceful place to sit and enjoy the sunshine and... More
