Where to begin? We embarked on our multi-generational family trip in mid-August. Profile of our group: my husband and I, 8 yo daughter, 11 yo son, 13 yo daughter, 19 yo daughter, 22 yo daughter, my parents – 78 and 79 and my brother. Dealing with Corky throughout the planning process was pleasant and seamless. She was responsive and entertained my endless questions about the safety of the rafting experience/appropriateness for different ages etc. She is clearly passionate and deeply invested in her role. The AAU chalets were our favorite form of lodging during the trip. They were well appointed, cozy, clean and peaceful. AAU promises an authentic experience delivered through a seasoned guide, providing access and exposure to Alaska beyond tourist-laden destinations. Delivered. Our tour guide, Dwight…made the trip. He was everything that you would expect from a tour guide and more. Within two minutes of meeting, he had memorized all of our names and never faltered – just one example of his attention to detail. In another example, he quickly learned our drink preferences and was sure to stock the cooler accordingly each morning. As mentioned, our group was diverse – ranging from age 8 to 79. Dwight successfully navigated the group, connecting with each on his/her level. He got to know each of us, and as a result, identified every acclaimed ice cream shop within 400 miles to satisfy Grandpa’s sweet tooth. He allowed us to customize our itinerary within reason and introduced us to places not identified on the itinerary: we breezed through his hometown – where we were delighted by a replica of the largest cabbage ever grown, he recommended hikes to enjoy during downtime, and pulled over during drives to explore rivers with salmon running. His engagement was authentic, natural, comfortable. He matched our pace, tone, energy at all times, which allowed for a harmonious dynamic. Dwight was “on” at all times – calling me at 6 am one morning to alert me to a moose standing in the lake, just 50 feet from our beds. Another time, while we were on an excursion, he completed a couple of loads of laundry for us, in order to keep us on schedule. He was a wealth of information – citing statistics, tales, data about everything ranging from the landscape, to the wildlife, to the history of his spectacular state. We learned so much and enjoyed every minute of his company. Execution was flawless. This trip involves extensive packing/unpacking and travel. We stayed in five locations during our journey (including one night at an AirBnB upon arrival in Anchorage.) Our van was where he promised when promised, our dining reservations were honored on time, our luggage was where expected, our tours on time…every single day. We never experienced a blip or a wrinkle. No small feat. Given the nature of such a journey, such execution is paramount/can make or break a trip. As far as the itinerary, it was perfectly curated. The assorted activities were thrilling, educational and easily accessible to every age in our group. We were able to glean an appreciation for the pure vastness and beauty of the state. Every minute spent hiking on or boating among glaciers was simply breathtaking, transformative. The rafting trip was a highlight. The flight from Talkeetna, likewise – remarkable. Visit to Ididaride - huge crowd pleaser. Each of the activity tour guides was gregarious, well-informed, experienced, approachable, and professional. In sum, our trip to Alaska through AAU was a trip of a lifetime.

Thank you, AAU! Special thank you to our guides; Lyle and Cullen!! What a great and professional staff. Always timely and more than that shared incredible stories with us about the area which gave us an extra level of appreciation for everything and everyone we interacted with! Had an absolutely AMAZING time on our trip!! Went gold panning, hiking, kayaking, dog-sledding, white water rafting, and landed on a Glacier! Saw some wildlife: bears, moose, eagles, puffins, salmon, sea lions, orcas, ball sheep, and many more! What a unique experience! Thank you! Thank you!

We had a fantastic trip to Denali on our flightseeing tour. Initially the weather was horrible and our guide, Jamie, suggested we take a chance and reschedule for a few days later. He was able to work out our itinerary on the fly. We’re so grateful he did. We had a beautiful day and an unforgettable experience. The whole trip was well planned, comfortable, and very organized. We had a great traveling companions. We would like to recommend this trip for anyone considering a tour of Alaska.

What a wonderful way to spend my first retirement vacation! I went solo and met up with my tour group in Anchorage, and tour guide Zac, who was the best! He was very knowledgeable about all the places we went and just an all around great guy! The van was a little smaller than expected, but we stopped regularly. The hotels where we stayed were top notch and very comfortable, especially the Pioneer B&B. Great views and great food.
