Talk about a company that goes beyond expectations in customer service. Alaskan tour Guides, Inc. did just that for our post Viking Cruise Denali National Park and Reserve experience. While traveling to our layover in Wasilla, I left my trusty sunglasses on the restaurant table at Summit Lake Lodge… duh. I didn’t realize it until we were over an hour away after the sun came out. Needless to say, I was the running joke with my wife and friends. A few weeks later I was pleasantly surprised to receive my trusty old sunglasses delivered to our house in Overland Park, Kansas just as they were. It was all because Mark K. (our tour guide and new friend) made the effort to reclaim them up during a following tour. Now that’s shows you the thoughtfulness and genuine dedication to customers the folks at Alaskan Tour Guides, Inc. provide. Our thanks again to Mark K. our terrific guide who, by the way, can spot a bear a half mile away, along with Bob, Doreen and Linda for adding the icing to the wonderful experience. Sincerely, Bill B.

Alaskan Tour Guides really understand how to help you plan a perfect tour of Alaska, and their execution of the entire event was impeccable. Accommodating 13 family members ranging from pre-school to grandparents is no small task, but hearing every single member state that it was the most fun, amazing, "unable to be topped by future trips" vacation is the best tribute I can give to the Tollers and their wonderful staff, including our driver, Mark, a kind and generous man, who filled us in on lots of Alaskan history and other interesting information. No detail was left untended, either in the planning or on the tour itself. We saw lots of wildlife, gorgeous scenery, and met lots of interesting people. ATG even added a few unplanned surprises to the tour. I found the company online and began corresponding with Doreen Toller a year in advance of our 10-day tour, which took place from the end of June to early July. (We had great weather, by the way.) ATG provides a list of many options for visiting and sight-seeing each day. Once the family narrowed the scope, ATG asked us to select where we'd like to begin and end the trip, then they arranged the route so efficiently that saw and did what we were interested in without wasting precious time driving unnecessarily. Though they provided a thorough description online of possible venues, weather conditions, and what we needed to pack, they patiently answered all of our questions about these things anyway. Car seats for the youngest that comply with legal standards? Recommend transportation (supplied with car seats) from the airport? Last minute decision of family to gift grandparents with a sightseeing flight over Denali? The answer was always gracious and the solution found. No one was left out, no matter what age. We all enjoyed the tour immensely, and it is possible that some fantastic photo books are going to be circulated this Christmas. There isn't one day of the trip that turned out to be less than stellar, including our hotel accommodations. ATG arranged the tour so that we didn't have to pack up and move every day--A Big Plus! (We really enjoyed the locations on lakes and the moose sightings at them.) Four favorites of the tour for everyone without exception were: Spencer Glacier Iceberg Float, Kenai Fjords cruise, Dream A Dream Sled Dog Kennel, and Alaskan Railroad trip. One more thing: ATG started the tour with a WOW and by the time 9 days went by, some thought that the last day just couldn't top the other 9, but ATG ended our tour with a double WOW! The 4-year-old was quivering with excitement that day. We were finally going to ride the train (!), and everyone else was quivering metaphorically by the end of that train ride! What a train! The Alaskan landscape is like none other in the U.S, (I've heard some say in the world), and ATG was the best way we could have explored so much in so short a time and still come home exhilarated. We had so much fun!

Great tour. Our guide was Mark. Very knowledgeable and constantly gave us information and antidotes of the area. Every minute was filled with interesting sights. However, I never felt rushed or overwhelmed. I highly recommend this trip.

If you want an impersonal tour where you are cattle and have little individualized attention, please go for the big companies. You will get to wear a name tag so your guides might recognize you and you will have a number just in case to make things very orderly. On the other hand if you want a more personalized tour where you might make new friends, have more fun, see things the big tour buses cannot get into, and have a better vacation, go with the ATG folks. We had a great trip, made 11 new friends, had much, much better food than the big tour companies. In fact, someone said it was a foodie trip with an Alaskan tour thrown in. Being a name and not a number makes your trip so much better. And we had some trouble with our flight back and our guide used his frequent flyer status to help us fix an problem that we had with Alaskan Airlines. Don't expect that from a big tour group.
