We enjoyed the entire tour. Our highlights included Talkeetna Air Taxi, white water rafting, and the 1st Class Gold Star Train. Our flight seeing day originally scheduled wasn’t safe for flying due to weather, our Guide John was able to reschedule our flight for our return trip and we were lucky to get perfect weather for flying and spectacular views! We especially enjoyed our stays at the AAU Chalet - a special treat loaded with amenities in a private setting and Denali Lakeview Inn - enjoyed kayaking, a fire pit, and viewing moose. Restaurant options varied and met our needs. For those meals that were not included in the package, we would have preferred smaller group seating rather than a table for 15. This should be offered as alternative.
We would have preferred to stay an additional day in Denali National Park. If you plan to return on the 1st Class Gold Star Train from Anchorage to Seward on the same day, be aware that the timelines are tight between the train and the Kensington Fjords National Park Tour. Upon arriving at the Anchorage Railroad Depot, our party of 6 had no problems with our reservations and obtaining tickets. However, other AAU Travelers on our tour did, which created a delay for them in an overcrowded train station. Upon our arrival in Seward, we went directly to the Seward Railroad Booth to obtain our same evening return train tickets. The reservations were incorrect, not scheduling us to return until the following day rather than the same evening. We were able to resolve it on our own. However, since at this point of the trip there is no AAU Guide, we felt AAU should have confirmed our reservations to ensure proper passenger names and dates.
Overall, we recommend touring with AAU.

Thank you for your great review! We appreciate your feedback about the train reservations. We take pride in making sure our information is confirmed before the Seward portion of your journey. We looked into this and it appears our vendor had a system error on their part that resulted in combining your group numbers. This is a rare occurrence and we are glad you were able to get it resolved.

We finally made it to Alaska in 2022 after 3 years of planning. We did one week on a cruise and one week on land Alaska Adventure Unlimited and our guide Cody. The land portion with Cody and AAU was a big highlight. And it was truly the vacation of a lifetime.

We got off the Norwegian Jewel after cruising the inside passage and Glacier Bay. We spent the day in Seward touring Kenai Fjords National park with Major Marine Tours and then took the train (glass car) from Seward to Anchorage (both highly recommended).

Cody picked us up the next morning at 11am at the Embassy Suites and began our adventure together.

We had 3 seniors, 2 juniors ( 11 year old boy and girl twins), and my hubby and I who are in our 40s. Everyone had a fantastic time.

The van we rode in was comfortable and well equipped. The excursions were all amazing and everyone had a good time. Our favorites were the white after rafting and walking on the glacier.

Our guide Cody was knowledgeable, friendly, and a pleasure to be around. And the accommodations and food were all high quality.

I also really appreciated how everything was planned so well from rest stops for bathroom breaks on the long drive to/from Denali, the pre-planned dining reservations, and the breakfasts included with the majority of the accommodations.

We saw lots of wildlife on our trip including a adorable baby moose frolicking in a lake with its mama.

The AAU 6 day package is quite a hefty price-point but it’s clear to see why after experiencing it for yourself. If you can afford it, I would highly recommend.

From our initial contact calling the Alaskan Adventure unlimited office to inquire, Erica and Kelsey, lifetime Alaskan residents, were immensely helpful, courteous and knowledgeable. They directed us to the information we requested, allayed our concerns, and after we selected our favorites from an impressive variety of activities offered, they put together our custom- selected 10-day dream vacation with personalized interest and excellent care! We invited 6 close friends to join us which enabled us to travel together in our "own" Alaskan Adventure van, decked out with extra binoculars to borrow, cold drinks whenever we wanted, and a great sound system to learn from our exceptional guide, Dwight, as we traveled. What a wonderful person! He went out of his way to fulfill our requests along the way, from birding sightings, Mt. McKinley photo stops, ice cream and shopping stops, and all the while regaling us with history, stories, and Alaskan lore. Having been on an Alaskan cruise previously, we thought we had seen glaciers. No comparison! Nothing could have prepared us for the Glacier sightings of this trip! Helicopter views of piercing blue glacier lakes, landing and actually tasting the glacier water! Unforgettable! Flight seeing and landing on a stunning Glacier plunging down between towering mountains, 8/10ths of a mile deep. We caught Salmon, and Rockfish during an ocean fishing excursion, kayaked in the waves, wandered the forests, thrilled during river rafting, went speed boating to another breathtaking Glacier, rode dog sleds, hiked in Denali National Forest, viewed bear, seals, caribou, Whales, several moose, and amazing landscapes! This trip was seriously beyond our greatest expectations! The hotels were very nice, the food very good, the Chalets and Lakeside hotel quaint and memorable, but the activities were fabulous! The planning, attention to detail, professionalism and overall experience with Alaska Adventure Unlimited was well worth the "bit more" investment!

Our guide was local, and knew just about everything there was to know about Alaska. He was prompt and escorted us everywhere, making sure we had the best possible outcomes. He was thoughtful to meet our needs and could adjust our itinerary times when needed. Our guide made sure we had all the photos and group photos we wanted. We always felt that we were seeing the best Alaska had to offer.

We took the deluxe 10 day discovery trip. The trip was well organized and it had a lot of packed fun filled days. Our guide, John was simply amazing! He was so knowledgeable about Alaska with facts and tidbits as we traveled from place to place, as well accommodating, caring, and just made everyone on our group of 12 feel like a family. Our accommodations were lovely and in beautiful settings. The only problem we encountered was at the Windsong Lodge in Seward where you needed reservations for both dinner and breakfast and they were booked. We should have been made aware of that beforehand. I personally, enjoyed all the activities except for one because the guides at the Knick Glacier to the so called "moderate" walk on uneven terrain that was a bit harrowing up a steep narrow (less than 2 feet wide) path were not very helpful. I was scared to look down and if you mis-stepped you would fall off the cliff. On my way back it was scarier and a fellow traveler helped me down not any of the guides. The actual walk itself after the steep climb was fine for me but it is more than moderate as listed in your guide. Thankfully, my husband chose to stay on the boat upon seeing that threatening hill and boy am I glad. This compares unfavorably to the challenging walking experience on the Matanuska Glacier where both Tom and Carson were simply amazing , knowledgeable, and truly caring guides. They helped everyone along the way, one in front and one in back. Tom was my husband's walking stick. He was simply a Godsend which made this a positive experience for both. The last 3 days of our vacation had bad weather which is beyond anyones control. The Denali flightseeing and landing, the gold panning (didn't find any gold), The Alaska Railroad passage with majestic views, the Iditorod trail sled dog activities were all amazing. Again due to weather, it was way too foggy to see Deanali, the National 6 hour cruise in Seward was cancelled due to 10 foot ocean swells so we switched to the Resurrection Bay Cruise and the Lake Clark Bear watching activity almost cancelled proceeded late when the weather conditions improved. Jess was a wonderful pilot and we had a wonderful private experience. Fortunate for us, we lucked out in some way as we saw bears, moose, caribou, Dall sheep, eagles, orcas and sea lions. On a final note Melissa Willis the tour co-ordinator is excellent at her job of being responsive and following up and so was Judd when we encountered a small problem. I would definitely recommend this company

We are so glad that you enjoyed your adventure with us & were able to soak in the beauty of Alaska. Thank you for the feedback about the terrain at Knik Glacier. While the climb is uneven terrain there is always the option to stay in the boat & enjoy the scenic views and iceberg lake which it sounds like your husband was able to enjoy. We are so glad you enjoyed the glacier trek & your tour! Thank you for joining us this summer.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our recent 8-day Best of Alaska trip with Adventure Unlimited. The activities included were world class and challenging. Our guide, Dorothy Jacobson, was very knowledgeable and professional and provided many personal insights. We benefited from unusually beautiful weather which allowed us great views of Mt. Denali, glaciers and abundant wildlife on multiple days. Overall, probably the best trip we have ever taken. Highly recommend.

We had a great time on this trip, and Sid was an excellent guide. He was especially fabulous with 2 boys in the group, ages 10 and 12, taking time to show them things, like how to pan for gold, and make unplanned stops, like picking blueberries. He had great knowledge of Alaska, and i was happy to have someone do all the driving while also sharing so much info. We did a 10 day itinerary, which was fairly well planned with a good mix of activities. Main comment is that the 5h bus tour in Denali should've offered a hiking option.

We had such a blast with this trip. Our tour guide, Rod, did such an excellent job. He was so knowledgeable about the areas we spent, as well on top of making sure we had a great, seamless trip without needless delays. Even though over half of our trip was raining, he did such a great job to find other opportunities to fit in activities to take in the most of Alaska.

Despite the rain, we had a great time and had so many memories we can appreciate. I would easily recommend people joining Alaska Adventures Unlimited to handle your trip. It was a blast.

We had an amazing time. Our guide was Dorothy and she was so knowledgeable about Alaska and we enjoyed all the information she shared. She loves her job and it shows. She goes above and beyond to make everyone happy. She will stop for wildlife pictures and let you have some say in how the day is going to progress. I really wasn't excited to go the Native Cultural Center as I had been to one before but with Dorothy I learned so much and saw how amazing the native Alaskans are. Everyday we did fun things and saw amazing sights. Denali was good to us as we saw Denali and saw all the wildlife you would want to see. The Glacier cruise in Seward was a huge success. Weather started out bad but it cleared and we saw more Orcas then you can count. Saw a humpback, bald eagles, lots of otters and harbor seals and sea lions. Also got to see the glacier calve. All the tours we took the guides were top notch on their knowledge. We had been to Alaska once before so I would say if you are a first timer or second timer you won't be disappointed in this itinerary. The B&B's we stayed in were quaint with beautiful scenery. One had views of the mountains and the other one was on a lake. If you do this tour do the helicopter. It only has 3 seats so we didn't get to go. We had been before but I highly recommend it. The only not 5 star part was the evening meals. It didn't seem the restaurants were good at serving a group of 9. Lots of cold food. But don't let that stop you, order salads as they were amazing everywhere. All the rooms you stay in have mini Fridges so we had a small cooler with snacks which was nice on the longer travel days.

Just got back from our trip to Alaska. We were on a 10 day tour which traveled from Anchorage through Wasilla Palmer on our way to Denali our tour guide Rod was amazing extremely knowledgeable and was willing to share his experiences with our group. We did the helicopter ride to the glacier and it was amazing we would highly recommend this upgrade. We also flew to Katmai to view the bears and that was incredible highly recommend that as well.
One of our best trips / vacations ever
