Doraemon and Friends!

Doraemon was created by Fujiko Fujio who was a native of Takaoka. Much of the second floor of the Takaoka Art Museum is devoted to his life and works. Here we see a display of various characters created by Fujio on a plaza in front of the Mantan Hotel opposite the main railway station. Interesting and worth a look. Nice noodle shops nearby.

Disappointing even for Doraemon fans

Just 6 statues over a small stretch of pavement. The statues on the circular structure are exactly the same as the 6 status on the pavement. Not recommended to travel this far specially just for this.

If you love doraemon, you will not mind spending the time travelling to Toyama- Takaoka. Sure, it's time consuming for the travelling, but worth if you really really like Doraemon! We took 8.36am shinkansen from Tokyo in the morning, reached Toyama around 11am, changed a train to Takaoka.. Just opposit the station you can see the bronze statues. We then walked towards the museum, passing by the Great Buddha statue and a park. Nice experience. But I would say the Takaoka museum is not very fantastic. If you have visited Fujiko museum in Tokyo, do not have to go the one in Takaoka.
On a side note, the curry rice we had in the underground linkway from the statue to the train station is very nice!!

Doraemon and Friends :)
Apr 2018 • Solo
The character of Doraemon was created by Fujiko F. Fujio who hailed from Taksoka City in Japan. One of the highly popular Japanese Manga series characters across the world. In honour of the creator, Doraemon and his friends are depicted as statues right on front of the Takaoka station across the main road in front of the shopping mall.
The statues are created to perfection and a very popular photography spot for locals as well as visitors. The statues are metal works. One can also see a large bronze statue of Doraemon in the Manyo tram line (Manyosen) Takaoka station waiting area. It is surprisingly a large post box. Fans of Doraemon consider it a pilgrimage to Takaoka. Definitely enjoyable.

Homeland for Fujiko Fujio

Some of the Doraemon characters had been erected along the street near JR Station as memory to the famous Fujiko Fujio for his works. Nice place to stroll around as there were also shops on both sides of the street.

A piece of modern history

The Doraemon characters' statues here is a proof that it was a home once to the famed Fujiko Fujio and thanks to Takaoka for honoring his famous work.
