The light rail system or tram service in Takaoka city comnecting Imizu city in Toyama. The route runs from Takaoka station to Koshinokata via shin-minato. It is the most convenient way to going around in the Takaoka locality , very efficient service. The tram services include the traditional tram cars as well as the modern light rail tram cars. The special attraction is the Doremon themed tram car which is highly popular amongst locals. The minimum fare is 150 yen and maximum fare is 350 yen on the route. The route has 23 stops in total and leads to the picturesque Toyama bay area in Imizu.

The tram goes to/from Takaoka to Shin-Minato. I have found it very convenient to get to and from Takaoka and Himeno & Nakasone where we have friends and family. It's not overly cheap, depending on which station you get on and off, but if you don't have/need a car, it is cheap enough, definitely cheaper and quicker than the bus.

Manyosen Tram line from Takaoka Station (not the Shinkansen station) to Koshinokata, near the Toyama Bay, operate Doraemon Train. The Doraemon Blue body and the pink door! Doraemon anime characters inside the train, too. It is a really fun tram ride. Manyosen operates one Doraemon Tram, so you have to check with their timetable. The Doraemon operation timetable changes frequently, due to maintenance. In general the trams, Doraemon Tram and other trams, run every 15 minutes. The old one-car type trams are also picturesque! Why Doraemon Tram in Takaoka? The writer of the Doraemon anime, Fujio F. Fujiko was born in Takaoka.
