TGI Diving in Marsa Alam is a good organized diving center. The rental equipment was in great shape. The stuff is very helpful and overall professional. Hosny is a great guide who does an extraordinary good job, especially for beginners. The house riff is beautiful but I can highly recommend signing up for the speed boat trips into the national park.
Four stars because online booking was annoying and didn‘t work and it was not possible to simply pay online prices on site.
As a woman I would feel more comfortable if the diving center would hire more female guides and (some) male guides would stop staring at the female customers while showering after the dives.

Our Boys (10 and 11 years)did the padi open water certification and succeeded thanks to Captain Ayman! ALL the staff is friendly and professional. We did the Dolphine motorboat trip twice with departure directly from the jetty. It was amazing! Would recommend to anyone who wants to feel safe underwater! We will come back!

Together with some members of our diving club, we went scuba diving in the house reef. What a beautiful sight! Our guide, Hosny took us for a check dive and showed us all the beauty of the house reef. I went diving with him a couple times more and, as a beginner diver, he really made sure I was comfortable and every dive went better and better! We also took some boat trips with Shazly and Shebab, which were each time really really fun! Also Uzi took us somewhere a little bit further from the house reef, where you can just walk into the sea, where we saw a very nice ship wreck. The other instructors at the dive center are very helpful and friendly, it really feels like a warm community. We saw sea turtles, dolphins, murenes, stingrays, clownfish, rudibranch, ... it was absolutely amazing and I´d love to go there again!

Every year we go to Gorgonia Beach Resort to escape daily life for 2 weeks and totally relax under water while diving or snorkeling and enjoying the wonders the sea has to offer. One of the reasons we go back is the TGI Diving Center, they have a great crew that is not only helpful, professional and kind - they also always give us the feeling that we are among friends.
We often dive with just the two of us in the wonderful house reef, junior staff is always helpful at the jetty to give me the princess-treatment ;) And we also go on trips: this year we were dropped off by speedboat for a super nice drift dive at the house reef. We went to Wadi Gimal with Arie and swam with dolphins which was just an extra gift after two brilliant dives. We did Elphinstone with Hosny (TGI Tulip) where we spotted 4 Longimanus sharks, dolphins, tuna, Napoleon fish and much more! Then we finalized the holiday at Marsa Figuera with Ayman who made sure I saw my crocodile fish :) All gorgeous dives with the best dive masters you can wish for!

There are lot of very nice dive spots. TGI center is big, clean, organized, but very bussy with overpressure of scuba people without the feeling of competitive. So they are not so personal approach. It is possible to prebook dive activities before your holiday and after that for each day min 2 days before...becouse they have just one Zodiac available, some bus trips and limited capacity of the big boat.
The staff - depends of the each guide/instructor. Somebody is very friendly and helpfull, somebody is not much interested.
Concerning the equipment - each day we had a problem with a air bottle - air leak due to sealing liner - everybody of our group. The most serious - two following days our son had a big problem during dive - massive air escape, first during the night dive!, he was out of the air in 5 min, next day simmilar situation in day diving...! both situations guide managed well, but seriously stress for him and for everybody in group. plus shortened dive time.
Finally, we was for one day with ORCA dive center from Hamata harbour and one day with Wadi Gimal dive center and each of its it was better experience than with TGI.
The bad thing about TGI is the extra charges for everything, you must pay extra for early morning and night dives. Unclear offer for diving packages.
The final bill for our family for one weak was really stunning :-(
It was our worst experience in Eqypt (two times before we were in Hurghada, once i El Gouna)

Do you also want to explore the best diving sites in the world? The Red Sea in Egypt will show you the kind of beauty it has to offer. We found out that Egypt is totally safe, so don’t be scared to fly over! We’ve been here in March 2017.
We left from Amsterdam straight to Marsa Alam, just a 5hr flight. (Why paying lots of money and spending flight time to dive in the Maldives or Indonesia when you can find it all so close to Europe? We stayed at a fine, cosy looking hotel at Gorgonia beach, located at the dive center of TGI diving. (TGI is the official diving center of Gorgonia Beach Hotel).
Diving sites near Marsa Alam are famous for their dugongs, turtles and dolphins. We saw all 3!
We booked a 5-day diving excursion. We all are 1* (Cmas) and Padi open water divers, so a maximum of 20mtrs depth. We did 11 dives. All I can say is I wish we could do 11 more 😊 Below you will find a short summary of what we did and some pictures!
Shore dives:
Marsa Assalaya: Turtle, dugong (so awesome!), lion fish, stone fish, octopus, white tip reef shark, many tropical fish (like everywhere)…
Marsa Samadai: Turtles, crocodile fish, big lion fish, stone fish, clown fish, murene,
blue spotted rays, trigger fish,…
Abu Ghusun: Big shipwreck from 1967 -> very nice! You can take a phone call 😊,
very big murene and barracuda.
Gorgonia house reef: Very big corals, We saw 4 lion fish together. You need at least 4 dives to explore their house reef (4!), because it is so big. Maybe you see dolphins, turtles or dugong. Andif you are really lucky you might even see the mighty whale shark or manta ray.
Boat dives:
Shaab Malahi and Shaab Claudio: Cave dives -> thrilling and awesome. So beautiful! The sun shines through the open holes above your head. We saw a very big napoleon fish (+-1,5m), he is always there! He’s a curious fella, but no need to be scared, he won’t bite! 🙂
Dolphin house: It was wind still, so no dophins. When there’s no wind they go out on sea. But the dive was nice. Canyons and caves, lots of fish. We saw the dolphins along the shore.
About TGI diving, Marsa Alam:
The dive center is amazing and granted us some great memories. Let me give you 10 reasons for choosing TGI:
1 They are VERY professional and have lots of experience.
2 They care a lot about safety (for me it’s very important).
3 The briefing is superb! Everything was clear and they show you on a map how the dive will be.
4 The gear is qualitative and pretty new, tested well in advance.
5 The price is fair. No hidden fees, no rip-offs.
6 They have a nice house reef!
7 The diving instructor is always alert, very friendly and professional, funny also 😊
(Osama is his name, the best instructor I’ve had. Ever!)
8 You can choose between house reef, boat dives or shore dives with a bus. So lots of variation.
9 If your hotel isn’t located near the dive centre, (even more than 1hr drive), they can pick you up.
10 They have dive locations that are pretty unknown, so no broken corals.
TGI is not only operating in Marsa Alam so check out their website!
Next time I dive, I’ll dive with them again for sure! I hope that next time is tomorrow 😊
So if you’re looking for crystal clear water, breathtaking dive sites and a professional guidance, don’t hesitate and start planning!

We stayed at gorgonia hotel in November 2013.good hotel. Very service minded staff in the dive center. Nice unspoiled housereef and some interesting dive spots in the neighbourhood. Far away from mass tourism for now.Our kids went windsurfing in the next bay while we were diving. we booked again for 2014!

Grazie e a presto! Raffaella

Marsa Alam, Egypt37 contributions
Buongiorno Raffaella,
A presto!

Buongiorno

- Marsa Egla (turtle bay)
- Sataya Dolphin Reef
- Hamata Islands
- Sharm El Loly
- Sh’aab Samadai Dolphin House
- Marsa Hermes (Dugong Bay)
- Abu Ghusun (Hamada Wreck).
A presto!
