Beautiful beach with white sand, coconut trees, not crowded. Nice view of motu islands. Wonderful colours, pleasant water temperature.

Stayed at Intercontinental Le Moana hotel while in Borabora so Matira beach was just across the street. Great place to take a quick swim. It was a bit windy where our bungalow was so the waves were choppy but Matira beach side was pleasantly calm....More

They have restrooms and showers. But this is a public beach that has a covered area for picnicking. Go here to watch a beautiful Tahitian Sunset. Alcohol isn't allowed on public beaches. FYI.

This is the only public beach I think on the main island. It's very pretty, you have to provide your own chairs or cushions etc.. Water is beautiful. I entered it from the entrance near the intercontinental Le Moana.

We spent an afternoon at Matira beach. There were many locals there. The beach was very nice and there were a couple snack places right there. Sunset was beautiful. You can walk in chest deep water forever!

We used a kayak to get to various points in the water off of the beach so we could snorkel. No coral in the shallow middle of the beach. Some coral at the shallow east end. Lots of coral at the deep west end.

We stayed at IC Le Moana which is on Matira Beach and is about 20 yards from the lobby to the beach area! We walked on Matira and looked at the sunset 3 times during our 7 day stay! The beach is wonderful, white Coral...More

Visited from San Diego on Maasdam's cruise ship and rode the easy crowded shuttle for $5 per person each way. The beach is perfect for a few hours and very enjoyable. Water and sand areas clean. Always important to wear reef shoes and take water...More

If you compare this beach with any other beach in the world is average, but in BB this is the best beach that you can access. There are some other man made beaches but they are in the big hotels. The beaches in BB disappeared...More

While I have not used them, I did see a building with them while at this beach.

Is Matira Beach a short walk from where the tender dock for Paul Gauguin cruise is? Otherwise, are there taxis? And what is the cost if known. Thanks

I can't speak to that specific cruise. However, the restaurant is a significant drive from the waterfront in town. Cabs are available, and the restaurant will often offer to pick you up for a reservation.
We will be in Bora overnight on PG Cruise. Do any of the mainland resorts let you use their facilities for a fee or purchase of food and beverage? Thanks!
