The owner not trying to upsell her products, no outrageous brand name price, just give the price range, she would show a selection, good place to choose a Tahitian pearl!

This was about my 7th or 8th pearl shop that I went to in Vaitape. I had a fair idea about what price I should be paying. I told Sylvie what I really wanted if I could afford anything there, and then told her what my price range was. She found some necklaces in her store and I picked the one that I wanted. She explained how the paperwork to claim duty exemption worked. Less than 2 weeks later, she responded that she got the Duty Free paperwork. It worked perfectly. Key to this successful transaction: Sylvie. She had the authority to reduce the price, she knew her inventory, she knew how the paperwork was to be filled out. One thing I don't know is if the prices are different in Papeete. I think not.

My wife wasn't sure if she wanted a pearl, but after seeing the selection at Baldini, I was sure I had to get her one. Sylvie was great, very patient, letting us see every pearl in the color we were interested in and was NEVER pushy about purchasing. We stopped at Tahia, Robert Wan, and a couple others, but the colors of the pearls at the other places didn't compare to Baldini's. We ended up choosing a loose pearl that they attached to a pendant and chain that was ready in 2 hours (total, it's attached quickly, but 2 hours minimum drying time was recommended, more if possible, but you can take it home after 1-2 hours) The duty free process was easy and explained well to save you the tax if you're not a local. I highly recommend, we got the perfect green/peacock pearl for my wife that she already wears all the time!

They fraudulently charged my credit card 3 months after we purchased jewelry! Stay Away! They told us that we would avoid a “tax” as long as we visited the tax store at the airport, to which we did everything required, yet they still charged our account.
