Unbelievable! You have to do this tour if you come to Bora Bora. Words cannot describe how amazing this tour is. Tanoa picked us up at 8:45am for our trip and when we arrived at the dock he was playing a ukulele and singing to us. We headed right out after hellos and within 10 minutes we were in the water swimming with huge Manta Rays! Said bye to the Rays then off to tour the island. He seems to know every boat passer by and lives local and points out all the history of Bora Bora.
A bit later we stop and he starts serenading the sharks. My wife’s heart almost stopped when he fed them and they all came rushing towards the boat. She looked at him and said “are we getting in there” and he says yes follow me. We jumped in and were swimming with close to 20 reef sharks. Amazing. It just got better and better as we floated thru the Coral Gardens, played with Sting Rays, swam with Eagle Rays and had an amazing lunch. He is the real deal. His boat is beautiful as well. Large pontoon boat that skims across the island. Must do!!

My family and I took an amazing day tour with Tanoa. He is a fifth generation islander who knows pretty much all there is to know about the wildlife and history of Bora Bora. He made us one the greatest lunches my family and I have ever had (and we are reasonably well travelled). The tour was amazing and he is a great host (sang for us, swam with us, cooked). This was one of the best boat trips we have ever taken and I cant recommend him highly enough. I almost never write Trip Advisor reviews but felt so strongly I wanted to pass this along.

If you get to Bora Bora, this is something you shouldn’t miss. A fantastic day with Tanoa on his boat getting toured around the island to many wonderful snorkeling spots while listening to him sing and play ukulele and learning about the history and culture. At noon, he will take you for lunch on his own private area of a motu where you will get a delicious lunch grilled right there on the beach. A very magical place to hang. You will not be disappointed and, as I said, don’t miss it.

Tanoa’s tour was absolutely incredible. A once in a lifetime experience and the highlight of our trip to French Polynesia. We snorkeled in amazing coral and saw some beautiful fish, were up close with sharks and stingrays, saw tons of dolphins, and had an amazing lunch cooked by Tanoa on his family’s island. He provides beer and non alcoholic beverages, microfiber towels, and a comfortable pontoon boat to make your day that much more perfect. I would highly recommend tanoa’s tour to anyone wanting a first class experience in bora bora

This was hands down our favorite thing on our Bora Bora trip. It is expensive but worth it.

Tanoa picked us up in his “Bentley of boats” and whisked us away for a full tour of the island and lagoon. We saw dolphins, visited the Bora Bora surf break, and SWAM WITH SHARKS. Which I never imagined I would do (I stuck close to Tanoa the entire time - it was scary yet beautiful — do it! The reef sharks don’t bite humans...mainly bread).

Then we went to his family’s private Beach and had one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Grilled lobster, poison cru made with coconut milk he made right in front of us, banana tapioca, lamb, and more.

This is a once in a lifetime experience. If you will go all the way to Bora Bora you must do this. Thanks to Tanoa for the amazing tour and our travel concierge Sarah Groen ( BellAndBlyTravel.com ) this was magical.. we felt like Beyoncé and Jay Z

We did two tours with Tanoa. What a great guy. Truly supported a local, native small business. He took us snorkeling, shark and stingray watching. THen we went to his private motu. It is very rustic-if you don't want authentic and rustic this may not the tour for you. But we loved it. I think the best fish I had on our 2 week trip was grilled on Tanoa's motu by himself. He grilled chicken, lobster, and several kinds of fish as well as taro. We and champagne and enjoyed the lunch at a table in the ocean. On one of the tours, it rained so Tonoa cut the trip short and got us back to our hotel safely, in the pouring rain. It was truly a tour to remember.

We took our tour in February of 2020. There were 5 of us. Four women and my husband. This tour was fantastic. We opted for the whole day tour. It is all we have been talking about since. Great person, Tanoa. We swam with sharks and rays. We even saw a lemon shark, a giant manta ray, and to my delight a morray eel. Tonao is quite the guide, entertainer, and chef. His family motu is to die for, so beautiful, tranquil and relaxing. If you have the opportunity, take his tour.

This is a must do half day trip on Bora Bora. Tanoa is quite the character and fun to ride with. You will not be disappointed by any of the dives, lots of sharks and rays and the coral reef is spectacular. If you don't have an underwater camera, you will certainly want one for this tour.

I am BEYOND livid right now. We are in Bora Bora right now for our honeymoon and had email confirmation of our private tour today and he did not show up. Our concierge at the Intercontinental Thalasso called his wife and he apparently had double booked and was unavailable to speak with- already out with another couple. SERIOUSLY?! DO NOT BOOK WITH HIM AT ANY COST!!!! He is completely UNPROFESSIONAL!!!!!! A HORRIBLE HORRIBLE PERSON with no self respect or dignity and will DEFINITELY stand you up so DO NOT BOOK WITH HIM!!!!!!

My husband and I took this private tour on October 7th, 2015 and absolutely loved the experience and Tanoa. I own a travel agency so have I experienced a lot, but this by far was the best. He picked us up at Intercontinental pier in the morning with his beautiful Pontoon boat. He then took us all around the island pointing out historical areas, reefs, different hotels etc.. He would stop at various locations for us to snorkel with Black tip sharks, Tiger fish, sting rays, manta rays, leopard rays and tropical fish and he knows exactly where to go being he is a true Native. During your boat ride he had Champagne for us as well as beer available. He is amazing to watch under water with the sea life, it's as if he belongs underwater and they seem to all gravitate towards him (with a little help from food, of course lol). After this wonderful tour around the island we stopped at Tanoas' Motu (island) and he fixed us an amazing meal served on coconut leaves with amazing fruits and some of Tanoa's mom's baked goods. This area (Motu) looks like what you would only imagine in the movies, so lush and tropical with clear turquoise water and baby fine white sand. You can walk very far out in the water and it won't get over your hips. Tanoa showed us how to open a coconut and shred coconut to make more coconut milk which he used in a tuna sushi dish he made for us. The food was absolutely amazing and the views the best ever. The table and chairs are set partially in the water and while we ate Tanoa played his ukulele (although I am sure it has a different name) and sang beautiful Polynesian songs. We then walked up the beach for a while enjoying the beauty. Tanoa has lounge chairs as well so you can enjoy laying out a bit before returning to hotel. After a fabulous day, we were returned to our pier. This is a full day tour and you have some leisure time on the Motu. This tour can be considered pricey for some, but worth every penney. I highly recommend a tour with Tanoa to my clients.
