Alaska Off-Road Adventures
What a ride! This was hands-down one of the best experiences we had while visiting Alaska; it’s an incredibly unique way to get out and see the amazing mountain views and Alaskan terrain. Whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced ATV rider, Alaska Off-Road Adventures has something for everyone. Ken took the time to get us acquainted with the vehicles and then led us on a fun ride over many varying terrain elements. He had a wonderful personality and really made this trip feel special. We had 4 drivers and 1 rider with varying degrees of ATV-familiarity and by the end of the tour every single one of us had grins from ear-to-ear (and just the right amount of mud splattered on us!). Ken’s ATV tour is something that my family still talks about months after our trip. If you’re choosing between activities while visiting, or passing through, Talkeetna, I can’t recommend this tour enough! It blows your run-of-the-mill tour out of the water!

I signed up solo for the ATV Tour with little to zero experience of riding an ATV, and was able to quickly get ramped up on operating one with clear instructions from Ken. The manual shifters made the experience of navigating around those narrow trails super engaging and definitely make for a fun experience for anyone who likes finesse-related things.
As for wildlife encounters, I was really lucky to have one of the most unforgettable experiences in my life - bumping into a small black bear into the front-left of the ATV and see it running skittishly in the opposite direction. Prior to this, I have seen bears from a distance in the Denali State park shuttle, but never have I had such a close encounter with a bear.
Wildlife sightings are not uncommon in this tour and I am guessing the smaller the group, the higher probability of seeing them as they tend to shy away from loud noises.
A tip about riding these ATVs would be to have shades or glasses on to minimize the amount of dust going into your eyes as this is as outdoorsy as it sounds
Also, a totally unrelated tip: do try the "Ken's Outdoor" flavor in the Ice cream shop next door, its so good I would definitely have it again.

Ken was beyond amazing! He was patient, polite, engaging, knowledgeable and safe.
My boyfriend and I saw his stand in Talkeetna across from the community park. We had just booked a glacier sightseeing trip with Talkeetna Air Taxi for the next morning and thought an ATV adventure would be fun after. It was a great decision! Wow what an adventure!!
Ken drove us to his base station a ways from town. When we got there he took the time to explain to us what we could expect, how to operate the ATVs, how to enjoy the experience and answer any questions that we had.
We really liked his ATV’s and that we could shift them according to the terrain and his recommendations. It really made the experience feel safe. The views were incredible! Ken took the time to explain what we were looking at and how the area was unique. He even stopped at a special vista to give us a chance to look at Mount Denali.
It was a wonderful adventure and I would recommend it to anyone coming to Alaska.

Ken was amazing. He as great with the kids, he as patient and informative. He made sure we knew which geer to be in and always made sure no one as left behind. He took our youngest grandson behind him (age 6) and we never worried about him. The views were spectacular! The trail rugged and perfect for the adventure we were looking for. Recommend 100% and will defiantly go with Ken again in the future.

This was a blast! We were debating between ATV and zip lining from Talkeetna and we were glad to have chosen this experience. We (2 adults and 2 kids) had zero prior experience in ATV and even two wheelers and were very apprehensive about going on dirt roads with heavy vehicles. Ken (the owner) put all these to rest and gave us a quick intro to the operation and promised to customize it to our experience (I.e. lack thereof). Then he took my daughter with him since my wife was not comfortable with a second person in the back seat. Then we went on all kinds of trails, creeks, mud roads, through shrubs and a lot of dirt. This was so much fun for everyone in the family and in the end we regretted choosing the 2 hour option instead of the 3 hour version. If we were to come back to Talkeetna, we will definitely pick Ken and chose the 3 hour tour. Highly recommend this tour - you will not regret it!

We had such a great ride with Ken! Being a cloudy Monday, it ended up being a private trip. We felt like we had made a great friend when we left and had such a blast out on the trails, driving through creeks, wind whipping past us, splashing through mud, and great mountain views partway through (wish Denali would have shown herself, but next time). It was a great adventure off on the trails. Can't wait to come back!

First, I want to mention how cooperative Ken was. We kept having to reschedule because our flightseeing tour kept getting rescheduled. Ken was flexible and worked with us so we could make the ATV ride. It was muddy but super fun. Ken explained how to ride the ATV (never rode one before) and then led the tour through the wilderness. Too bad the weather prevented us from seeing Denali. Highly recommend.

We reserved a 3 hour evening ride and once there found that we were only two on tour. Ken was the best at training us to ride and safety was always #1. You take a 20 minute ride in a van to atv site. Ken takes lead and you follow. We got to ride on train that they had just opened for season and it was awesome. Great views and plenty of moose and bear scat to keep you on your toes. Good trail for beginners and seasoned riders both. Ken educated us on mountains, animals, riverts, etc. Would recommend to anyone. Thanks Ken!

Amazing. Ken took us on a 3 hour wilderness ATV tour 6/5/22. They provide everything you need, boots, helmets and rain gear if needed. We were so lucky, beautiful weather and a variety of terrain.
Don’t miss the chance to experience what few visitors will never see. Fun beyond belief.

I went 4 wheeling with my wife and three kids. Without exaggeration, our entire family , individually and collectively, determined this was the greatest experience we have ever had. The adventure was fantastic! Ken was a great guide. He allowed us to have fun and also made sure we were safe. The trails were awesome and only exceeded by the incredible Alaskan views. Riding and driving the ATVs was exhilarating. My 10 year old rode on the back of my vehicle and we have never laughed so much. I can't thank Ken enough for providing an experince that will literally last a lifetime.

I’m so sorry I don’t remember.
But I do remember having the impression that it was reasonable and worth the ride, especially for us because we had a private tour, with no one else but our family on the tour. Go ahead and contact them directly! Sorry!

We took a 3 hour tour for $195.00 each. Alaska Off-Road Adventures offered us other time options that would be less money. On the day and time we picked, we were the only ones on our tour. Ken seemed very willing to work with his customers to give them the adventure they are looking for.

What is the minimum age for riding your own ATV? My daughter will be one month from 14 and won’t enjoy this unless she rides her own. She has ridden an ATV before if that matters.
Written May 14, 2018
My daughter was 10 years old last August and he let her drive with me riding behind her on certain portions of the trail. We got up to 45 mph! Made her day. Only the company we went through would allow this. They're more understanding that you and your family want to live out this important trip to the fullest. I believe the guide had said if she was 14 she would be allowed to ride her own. They may not say this initially before you book for liability issues so just reserve all the ATV's you want and when you show up they won't want to miss out on the revenue. She'll have the ultimate blast.
