We took this excursion from the Mt McKinley Process Lodge. It was just a short bus ride to the lake. Dry bags, waterproof pants and crocs were provided. We had a beautiful day for kayaking around the lake. We were a small group of 3 so our guide was able to answer all our questions. He was very knowledgeable and... More

We were a bit dubious about this trip because the weather wasn't great when we arrived in Mt McKinley. We decided to swap our morning kayak trip for the afternoon before and that proved a wise decision as the afternoon weather was good, no rain at least. We were picked up from the Princess lodge and driven to Byers Lake... More

While we were in Alaska we were looking for a kayak trip that would be fun for my sister but easy for my mom. I came across the Denali Southside River Guides and their trip at Byers Lake in Denali State Park. We had a wonderful time. Simon was a great guide and really knew about the area. He shared... More

My family and I did the kayak and float trip with Southside river guides last week and it was incredible. Our day started with an on time pickup at our lodge, courteous and fun driver who was very knowledgeable. We were driven to Byers lake where they had a small trailer with all the gear that was necessary. We were... More

This trip was one of the best and most memorable days one can experience on vacation. The guide team Craig, Simon and Jake were knowledgable, fun and just awesome guys. The kayaking 30 miles from MT Denali and then the rafting trip back provided views that will be remembered for ever. This trip was worth every penny. Lunch was provided... More

My son and I had a really wonderful experience kayaking around Byers Lake. The guides were really nice, and very informative. It was a very calm day on the lake, with approximately 1 -2 hours of kayaking - could be a little strenuous when paddling back into the wind. While we didn't see any bears - there were trumpeter swans... More

Our family of 4 had a great afternoon on the lake in Denali State Park. The kayaks (tandem) and canoes were really affordable at $15 for the 1st hour and $5 for every hour after that. Byers Lake is real serene with the Alaska Range in the background. We saw some loons on the lake but were told occasionally moose... More

We arrived at Byers lake spur of the moment decision. We were thrilled to find Southside River Guide in the parking lot where we could rent kayaks and canoes. The gentlemen who ran the business were extraordinarily knowledgable about the lake and hiking trails and offered a lot of valuable information (especially which plants to stay away from in the... Rented kayaks by Denali Southside River Guides. Friendly staff helped where to paddle on Lake Byers for seeing wildlife. Enjoyed two hours at the lake.

great so you can say that you went down for a rafting trip in Alaska. But if you like to be able to row yourself i would save the money rent it somewhere and just go do it somewhere else it would be the same thing. kayaking it would be cheaper to do it on your own also.
