Timaru is beautiful.caroline Bay is out of this world, so tranquil and peaceful. I found a lively little bar nearby, sitting outside in the sun was very relaxing, there were also a few places to enjoy a coffee and I found a nice little place that served the loveliest nachos 👅

Caroline bay is beautiful. Has an awesome playground for the kids (there fav was the hamster wheel) they also have a kids paddling pool and a walk through bird Avery all free of charge! Kids loved it and we spent the best part of 2 days just hanging out and exploring

Come here at night if you want to see Blue Penguins. Around 7pm or so in the winter is when I went there and there were sections of the beach designated as blue penguin habitat! So cute. I highly recommend this area. But please no flash photography or entering the fenced area. That ruins the experience for everyone. The lighting... More

It's lovely 'down at the bay' for exercise and fresh air as you enjoy a stroll along the beach or to just sit and enjoy the lovely sea view and general activity. Children can run free, paddle or play in the playground. Is a great picnic destination in the summer.

Beautiful beach. Stunning views and lovely walk around the beach from the road. Old lighthouse and lots of views looking back of Timaru too. Even nice driving padt on the main road in some places. Would be a lovely place to live

We were down again from Auckland the previous weekend to spend time with our new grandson of 14 weeks for the second time. We visited the bay and the reserve on Sunday 29 May after the big storm and flood. The beach seems to been damaged, certainly the flooding to the reserve was serve with water still lying around two... More

This is a lovely public facility in Timaru. Nice play ground. Toddlers pool for the summer. Pick nik areas and a play at the beach.

This beach is a favourite place- quiet, flat, and pleasant. It has been changed in the last few years to incorporate a boardwalk and toilets and better planting- but it was fine before. Dogs are allowed off leash on the strand from April to October and we dog people make the most of it. It's always a refreshing, uplifting walk.... More
