It was nice to be guided through the Maori culture in this delightful small museum in Timaru. The guide introduced the museum and then explained his culture in may aspects. He then left us to self explore returning several times to answer questions.

This is a unique museum/tour combination focused on Maori culture and art. The museum provides an excellent overview with very informative panels and exhibits. The tour of the rock art sites provides even more insights into the fascinating Maori culture. Most Maori rock art sites are off-limits to the public, so this is a great opportunity to experience one, and the guide's commentary adds a great deal to the experience. Highly recommended!

Went to the gallery only (not tour) but the filmettes and interactive components gave a good sense of the rock art. Sad to think so much is lost under Benmore Dam.

Your entry fee goes back into the preservation of protecting the art. Thank you

What a beautiful museum with an adorable guide who invites questions and has a wealth of knowledge. The tour driving to the original rock art cave is well worth it!
