The Dalyan River is beautiful. And traveling along it could be amazing, but...I made a huge mistake by choosing the ship "Longboat" (departs from Marmaris) for the trip.
1. On the ship, music was blaring all the way, from which there was nowhere to hide. And the sail from Marmaris to Dalyan takes more than two hours.
2. Toilets are dirty and smelly.
3. Lunch is a rare disgusting thing and a complete humiliation. To get barely warm pasta covered in cheap ketchup, unseasoned cabbage and a disgusting-tasting semi-finished product, here proudly called steak, you had to stand in a huge line. There wasn't even a basket for bread - it was thrown straight into the plate. We were told to clean up the dishes after ourselves, as in the canteen.
4. There was no shadow on board at all. More precisely, the shaded bow was sold as a VIP area, which, in essence, was a piece of deck with an awning and sun loungers standing close to each other.
5. But the biggest disadvantage of "Longboat" is its employee named Aisha. She constantly tried to tempt tourists either for freshly squeezed juice (you won’t try this anywhere else - a clear deception), then for goat milk ice cream (which, according to her, can only be eaten at the Barkas, which is also a blatant lie), then for beer (you won't find it cheaper). Immediately upon boarding, Aisha signed up all the Russian-speaking people, so that later she could put us on separate boats. In principle, the idea is not bad. But... All the way to Dalyan, our escort pretended to be a guide, although we were given information to listen to, and, in my opinion, it was quite enough to get acquainted. But it was not there. When they sailed to the Lycian tombs, when someone asked if they were allowed to be understood, she replied: “Actually no, but when the season ends, I will definitely come here to climb inside the tombs.” To hear this from a guide is, in my opinion, the height of savagery.
But the real nightmare began on the way back, when, peaceful and relaxed after visiting the mud of Dalyan, we were returning back. Aisha turned up the music at full volume and began dancing, which began to shake the little boat. Moreover, she also began to drag others out to dance. People passing by looked at us like idiots. I don’t know how it was for anyone, but for me the moment of unity with nature was hopelessly ruined, and the loud music and screams gave me a headache. This is understandable: if I wanted dancing and movement, I would buy a ticket to a pirate ship, where such a program is provided.
The conclusion is this: if you are a normal person who wants a pleasant trip along a beautiful river, under no circumstances buy a tour on the Longboat. Or at least make sure Aisha isn't on it. If she is still there, run away from there. Otherwise, a wonderful trip will bring you nothing but irritation and fatigue.

Great family day out .
We boarded boat and travelled half way there and dropped anchor for a break and a chance for anyone wishing to , to go for a dip in the sea , 2nd leg of journey were given lunch .
Arrived at turtle Beach and spent 1hr there and kids loved the swimming and dipping toes in the water.
The sand was extremely hot to walk barefooted on so would definitely recommend keeping flip flops handy .
Then onto a rivet boat to see the tombs gey to sit and take pics for approximately 5 mins then along for an hour stop for mud baths and hot spa .
Kids were wiped and slept ed the entire journey back to marmaris

You have come to Dalyan and want to go to Iztuzu Beach. It is a very reasonable choice to choose the boats going to that beach on this river.. Here, the boats take their customers and get up at certain times and on the way you you can watch the natural beauty among the reeds. The round trip costs 20 TL for the 2019 summer. The boat journey takes 30-40 minutes and you can see the ancient city of Kaunos and rock tombs on the slopes on the right (along the road). I think they can have private tours for families and individuals as well. A really nice and inexpensive service. I recommend everyone to have this experience.

I wanted to firstly add, the 2 star review was purely based around the barkas boat journey not the experience. I've done the whole turtle beach before and it's amazing. Cleopatra beach is wonderful, the river cruise is amazing and the kids loved the mud baths more than anything. This review is based around the 2 and a half hours of hell getting there.
Firstly you'll always over pay at a travel agent, go directly to the boat. I paid £20 per adult and £10 per child. When you get to the boat you see it's £8 per person so don't get ripped off.
The biggest insult is getting bag searched getting on board and they take all food and drink from you including water. I was so angry, you don't get told any of this before.
You then have to get ripped off all day with over priced water and food.
You get charged for everything, parrot pictures, more pictures, extra food, chips, soft drinks.
The whole experience was awful, the food was terrible and the facilities were disgusting. Mens toilets are just urinals with urine sloshing around all over the place, no running water to wash your hands, plugs hanging out the walls.
Please do yourself a favour don't book this disgusting boat and save yourself from being ripped off.

Marmaris Resort and SPA was terrible in service and in the quality of food and trust me I have been to some great resorts before with all inclusive, which served the higher end of the food range. The bathrooms consisted of soap dispensers. We arrived late at night as there was only one flight with EasyJet and went up to the restaurant that served cold sandwiches. The beach was dirty and contained cigarette packets, lighters, used band aids, plastic bags and other crap. If you're a swimmer, this is not your resort! The best part of the trip was the SPA at this resort and a big shout out to everyone that worked in the SPA

We visited the river on a day trip from Marmaris. After a stop of about two hours at Turtle beach, we boarded some boats and traveled up the river to the town of Dalyan. The first part of the trip is not very impressive, you sail on some canals bordered by reeds, along with many other similar ships. There are no other plants (like water lilies) except reeds nor waterfowl . Stereotype. The boat makes a short stop in front of the tombs dug in the rock of the mountain, at Caunos. Gradually, as you approach Dalyan town, the landscape becomes more interesting, even beautiful. Houses, restaurants with terrace and lots of colorful boats. The most beautiful part of the trip!

This was one of the best days we spent on our holiday in Turkey. Dalyan is a lovely little town with beautiful, cheap restaurants along the river, lovely hotels and a great market/bazaar. We were not quite sure how the cruises to the attractions would work. But you just drive down to the river (at the end of the main road) where the local co-op runs trips to whichever combination of the attractions appeals to you. These are all fixed price and you get the whole boat to yourself, leaving whenever you want. Each boat could hold up to 20 people, but my husband and I had a whole boat to ourselves for over 4 hours, at a cost of 130TL. As we cruised along the river, the Lycian rock tombs are amazing (although you can also see them from the terraces of the riverfront restaurants). We chose to cruise along the river to view the tombs, then go to Turtle Beach, then view the ancient city. As we approached Turtle Beach, the boat slowed down and tied up to a crab fishing boat. Our boat captain waved a crab on the end of line in the water, and we were amazed to see 2 turtles appear, one of which surfaced. They are huge! We then went on to the beach, where we were at liberty to spend as much time as we wanted. There are change rooms there, lounge chairs and a cafe. After a little while there, we returned to the crab boat where we bought 1/2 blue swimmer crab each, that had been cooked and served with salad and lemon. It was delicious! We then went back along the river and tied up at the base of the ancient city. We wandered around the ruins at our leisure (8TL each entry), then went back to the boat. Our guide asked if we wanted to stop somewhere for lunch - it was early afternoon by then, so he took us to a lovely riverside restaurant. We ate a delicious lunch (quite inexpensive) while he sat inside, then he took us back to the dock. We could have also gone to the mud baths and thermal pools, but did not want to do so. The guide was great - he was unrushed and seemed very happy to do just 1 tour each day, for as long as wanted to take. It was a great day.

This summer we spent in Marmaris, Turkey, and decided to visit Dalyan. Actually, we took a boat trip from the city Dalyan to the place where river flows into Mediterranean sea (30€ bus from Marmaris to Dalyan, boat and ticket for Mud Bath included).
First of all, we visited Mud Bath. Nothing special if you are asking me, but some people liked it. If you do not mind the smell of the sulfur, you will like this place. Otherwise, you can sit in the lovely restaurant in deep shade and wait your companions around 30-45 minutes to finish their mud treatment.
Our next stop on a cruise was Kaunos Restaurant, situated on the river. For only 5€ you can eat as much as you like, and food is ideal for hot days: fish, vegetables, salads and fruits.
During the cruise you can see turtles and blue crabs.
A must see destination: Lycian tombs situated above river cliffs. Simply amazing!
The last stop: place where the river flows into Mediterranean sea and Turtle Beach. There are no words that can describe that beauty! Turtle Beach is situated at Mediterranean coast, 7km long beach is wonderful. Do not be suprised if you see wooden stakes. Stakes are marking the place where you should not put your towels because loggerhead sea turtles are nesting here. Take a long walk by the coast, swimm as much as you can because send is perfectly soft and clean. Waves colide which makes water perfect for adventure and swimm for really good swimmers.
You can use for free toilets, showers and cabins on the beach, but remember that water is salty and not for drink.
Try to spend whole day at the beach and enjoy as much as possible. You will alwas want to come back, at least I do!
Advice: since it is windy and hot, please use suncream! Also do not forget thongs because send is too hot.

Myself and my family (13 all together) took 2 boat trips in Dalyan on this boat, the hospitality was superb, the food was delicious and alcohol was cheap! The first trip was past Turtle Beach where we spent hours anchoring up in different beautiful locations and diving into the sea off the boat. We had such an amazing time, we had to do another trip before our week was up! A few days later, we went on an incredible evening trip to the mud baths, where once again 'Captain Devrim' anchored up and let us jump and dive in the river! After the mud baths we were served up (once again) delicious fresh food and the drinking continued! We then spent the night partying, stargazing and totally relaxing, it was truly an amazing boat and experience! Devrim and his crew spoilt us rotten, and we would all recommend anyone going to Dalyan to seek out 'Grand Devrim'. I think you can even book in advance at granddevrim@gmail.com

It was definitely a thrill, but you must be extremely cautious.
We were sold tickets when the water was quite high and rough. also the section were were taken on was the 6th most difficult in the world. Not great for tourists, who just want to experience it. I fell out the raft in the middle of the rapids and it was a incredibly awful experience, not knowing if I would survive. I banged both my knees against rocks and now I am in pain.

I would not say don't do it. But before you book ensure you find out which part of the river they will be using and how rough and high the river is. If you very experienced and enjoy this, then you should be fine.
