Saint Joseph's Roman Catholic Church is on the north side of the Sighişoara Citadel near Petőfi Sándor memorial park. It was built between 1894–1896 after the Franciscan nun's monastery was demolished, when the city was under Hungarian rule. The building, by local architect H. Letz, blends Gothic and Neo-Roman elements. The tall belfry is on the north side. Following a fire in 1983, the church was restored and is rather plain inside. Simple wood pews face a wood alter with a large cross above. The pipe organ was made by Kerl Einschenk in 1908. The church is beautifully illuminated at night, and is open daily from 9am-6pm, with no entry fee (although a donation is gratefully appreciated).

An interesting experience for me was that after just visiting Holy Trinity Church in Sibiu, Romania and now visiting St. Joseph Church in Sighisoara, I found them to be opposite with their design. Holy Trinity was very plain on the outside, yet simply gorgeous Baroque inside. St. Joseph is more impressive with it's strong exterior architecture, clean white lines, more massive and solid looking. Inside, a much more quiet, humble, simple space awaits the visitor. It was a bit of a surprise, and I found that interesting.

It's nice church located in the historic center of Sighisoara. It's newer than the other buildings. It was built at the end of the 19th century. You can admire the facade and get in when they have services. There is also a little park nearby.

A relatively recent church in the city of Sighisoara built in 1894 after demolishing the Franciscan Monastery and the Locksmith Tower.
On the other hand it is actually a Roman-Catholic Cathedral ... it is built in the clean style of the Neo-classicism with clean lines and simple exterior and interior architecture (as simple as it can be for a building this size) ... bottom line is , that is not over decorated.
Entrance is dependent on luck ... when we first tried to enter the door was locked, few days later the outer door was open - but the inner iron grill was locked , so I took some pics through the grill.
It is interesting, would be more interesting if you would have a guided tour of it .. but for the time being that has to wait for a later moment in time.
Check it out, no entrance fee , but as always donations are appreciated in any church.

A roman catholic church, I hadn't expected to see one. This church is one of medieval building in the country. Sighisoara is considered the most beautiful and best preserved one of the few fortified towns which are still inhabited. The city was built on top of a hill and the lower city, in the valley of Tarnava Mare river.

Nothing too special about it, it has some very old items inside (the carpets) but it has a nice and welcoming feel to it.

Peaceful and unpretentious! A nice respite from the lavish & ornate that exists in other churches. Small & modest.

This church is in fact a Roman Catholic Cathedral.
It was built by two architects Johann and Karl Letz in the latter end of the 19th century.
It was built on the site of the Dominician Sisters Monastery pre reformation and latterly the Franciscan sisters monastery.
It was damaged by fire in the 1980's.
It is not very inspiring but it does have a lovely organ that is a pleasure to listen to.

We happen to be in Sighisoara on a Sunday morning and with no much open, so we decided to come here for the service. St Joseph's church was built in 1894, after the demolition of the Franciscan convent, and is situated right in the heart of the town square, near the enclosure wall. It was beautiful to be in the church while the organ was playing, and people were praying. It gave it a personality and feeling. Otherwise, the church is nice, but not as impressive as most other Greek Orthodox or other fortified/Saxon churches in the area.
