About Your Guide In Transylvania
Hi. My name is Emanuel Enache and I provide tours in and around the Sighisoara area. I have lived all my life in Transylvania and was passionate about history and nature since I was a child, therefore I know many secrets about the area that travel books and sites never mention. I work with individuals, couples, families with children, sometimes even 3 generations of the same family touring together, small and large groups up to 50 people. Many people come back again with other members of their family or on the recommendation of friends. I can help out with transfers and travel arrangements to make your travel plans as smooth as possible. I love what I do and I look forward to welcoming you to Transylvania!

From Sighisoara - Nature Tour of Breite Ancient Oak Tree Reserve

Besides it`s hystorical well known treasure, the medieval fortified citadel, Sighisoara hides another unique treasure, this time a natural one. Three km away from the city lies the Braite Plateau, a typical case of culturally- modified forest, unique in Eastern Europe, based on a model brought by the Saxons who arrived here in the twelfth century. There are 608 oak trees on the Breite plateau, of which more than 450 are between 400 and 900 years old. Besides the oaks, the plateau is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna species, many of them protected under international conventions. Bears and wolfs still roam the forests, rare birds as the lesser spotted eagle, the corncrake, bee-eaters, hoopoes and the ural owl can often be seen on our tours.

From Sighisoara: Turda Salt Mine and town of Targu-Mures

Enjoy a full-day tour while visiting the “coolest” underground possible place to visit not only in Transylvania but maybe in whole S-E Europe. It is ancient, it`s history going back to Roman Empire time, it is deep 120 m (400 ft), actually the lowest point of Transylvania you can reach, and it is cold 10 Celsius (50F) constant temperature and it is Turda Salt Mine. You will actually scratch in an underground mountain of salt formed over 13.000.000 years ago.
On the way back we will stop to explore Targu Mures the capital town of Mures County also known as City of Flowers where one can enjoy a place fundamentally not touched by tourism. You will be presented the highlights of the town such as: Town Hall, Medieval Fortress, Apollo Palace and the Palace of Culture, all of the historical beautiful buildings. Also in this town you can eat one if not the best “Goulash” in Transylvania while learning the two local cultures, Hungarian and Romanian are completing each other.

From Sighisoara - Following Prince Charles’s footprints in Transylvania

Enjoy an unforgettable day trip exploring two wonderful villages of Transylvania, both of them World Heritage UNESCO sites, bypassed by modern times: Viscri and Saschiz.
The countryside surrounding this villages is one of Europe’s last medieval landscapes, with probably the most extensive flower-rich grasslands remaining in lowland Europe, essentially unchanged for hundreds of years, in which low intensity agriculture coexists with an abundance of flora and fauna.

Prince Charles was immediately struck by the precious legacy of this area of Transylvania and said he was “totally overwhelmed by its unique beauty and its extraordinarily rich heritage”, in 2007 he bought a house in Viscri.

Emanuel is the guide anyone would be fortunate to be accompanied by in a tour. We contacted him by the end of August this year for our one week visit Sighișoara in September and we got a prompt and enthusiastic offer for the city tour and for the extended Biertan and Malancrav one. He is a warm, personable, knowledgeable professional, passionate about the place, providing us with a treasure of information on Transylvania: its history, geography, architecture, folklore, cuisine, weather, traditions, flora and fauna and what not, all splendidly documented and to the point. An extremely competent, very accommodating, spontaneous young man, with a fine sense of humor, has made our visit to Sighișoara worthwhile, so we spread the word – next week, my friend's children will be visiting Sighișoara, hopefully guided by him. Keep up the good work, Emanuel!

Upon booking, we received a very prompt response from Emanuel confirming arrangements. He arrived on time at our hotel to pick us up. Straight away, we could sense the warmth and genuineness of Emanuel and that not only would we learn a lot about his part of Romania but would also have a lot of fun! We highly recommend this tour and Emmanuel as a guide. You can ask him almost anything and he will answer honestly (or tell you if he doesn't know the answer). We felt like we had truly made a friend in Transylvania, even if just for those few hours, and was quite sad to say goodbye. We do very few guided tours as we tend to be quite independent travelers for the most part but it was much easier to get around with someone who had a car on this occasion (public transport can be infrequent/indirect in this part of the country). So glad that this meant we got to meet Emanuel and we wouldn't hesitate to meet up with him again when we return to this beautiful and interesting place. Book, you won't regret it.

Emanuel Enache was the most amazing guide we have ever experienced. We valued the opportunity to not have to settle for a prepackaged take it or leave it tour. Our first outing with Emanuel was Peles Palace outside of Sinaia. The 5 hr roundtrip drive from Sighisoara to Peles Palace was the equivalent of yet another tour as he speaks better English than many native speakers we’ve encountered, and his openness and knowledge of Romania’s culture and history provided the ultimate backdrop for furthering our understanding of this unique land. There was no question he could not answer! Our second outing with him was experiencing a traditional Transylvanian lunch. Upon arriving in a quaint village outside of Sighisoara, Emanuel brought us to a home dating to the 1860’s, where we were served the most sumptuous and hardy lunch, by our host Sorina, including five distinct homemade wines and dessert. Incredibly, all the ingredients came from the village. It was an unforgettable farm to table dining experience. When faced with the challenge of selecting a private tour guide, here are the reasons to select Emanuel Enache: 1) He values his culture and generously shares it. 2) He speaks English like a native. 3) He encourages customization. 4) He answers questions from an unbiased, fact-based position. 5) We felt completely safe and totally at ease with him. 6) He was prompt in responding to emails and given a 9-hour time zone difference this was no easy task. He was equally prompt in meeting us at our hotel. 7) His prices are exceptionally reasonable. We have already personally recommended Emanuel to friends. Without doubt, we would tour with him again. Our time with Emanuel was most memorable and highly enjoyable!

When I booked the trip to Biertan and Malancrav I had no idea that I will meet one of the best guides ever. Emanuel's knowledge goes beyond the traditional history of the places we visited. He has an in depth knowledge of the region. country and its culture and traditions and the political dynamics over the course of the history. His enthusiasm, friendliness and openness made this trip one of the best ones I've taken

What a delightful day we had with Emanuel! He was very knowledgable and passionate about his city of Sighisoara. He is personal with excellent English skills. He had lots of information to share with us but was also open to answering our many questions. This was the first day of our first trip to Romania and Emanuel was the perfect introduction. Thank you!
