It's another tower located in the center of Sighisoara. You can admire its architecture and take some pictures there. It's nice to walk down the narrow streets around and feel the medieval atmosphere.

Built in the 14th century ,devastated by the fire of 1676 and rebuilt after (in the fire from the 30th of March 624 houses, 7 towers including the Clock Tower and 2 churches were destroyed - 20 people died).
Today , like in old times is entry gate underneath it, to the citadel square.
The tower is massive, compared to other towers, has slits and "murder holes" from where the defenders could shoot projectiles or drop all kind of things on the attackers.
It was maintained by the guild of the Tailors during the medieval times (and judging by its shear size , it was a wealthy Guild that's for sure.)
Nowadays it is tourist attraction that you should include in your walk when you are in Sighisoara.

As you walk through the gates you can easily imagine the days long ago when others dis the same. Our favorite feature is the location where no doubt a sentry once stood on duty.

It looks rundown. Still, appears to be popular. Particularly that you can enter the tower and climb to the observation desk

Turnul Croitorilor (a.k.a. The Tailors' Tower) is located in the western wall of Sighişoara Citadel, and is its second main gateway. In medieval times each guild in Sighişoara was responsible for maintaining and manning one of the defensive towers in the Citadel. This tower was sponsored by the Tailors, the richest guild in town. The massive square tower has twin arched passageways which could be closed on both sides with oak gates and iron grilles. The upper tower has shooting slits and box machicolations (projections from the wall allowing stones or boiling water to be dropped on attackers). The tower housed large supplies of grain, projectiles, breastplates, halberds, two long guns and gunpowder. In 1676 a fire and explosion destroyed the top and the northwest corridor. The tower was repaired, and the northwest corridor was turned into a warehouse. In 1935 the vault was restored reopened to public. As I passed through the cobbled passage through the massive tower to enter Sighişoara, I felt as though I was stepping back to medieval times. Turnul Croitorilor is beautifully lit at night. It is accessible at all times with no entry fee.

We were almost run over as we were being total tourists taking pictures of each other in the doorway, so be careful. This is a well preserved gate/tower and we enjoyed walking throughout the city looking at all of the fortifications and gates.

Out through this structure, following the street passing under the vaulted openings, the road goes down, winding gently, towards the main parking lot.

July 2018: It is pretty hard to miss this. You see it as soon as you enter the city. It was very busy and you cant really stand still in front of it, because cars go in and out.

We drove through it when we took a bus from the parking area, and we walked through it on the way Down to the parking area. It is an important piece of the town's history, but there are other Places I will remember more from this city.

Walking around the Citadel, this is another tower that I came across. Took several pictures here and imagined how the Citadel would look like with this Tower and other Towers and Gates were all operational!
