About
We are a group of ethnic Black H’mong cousins living in a mountain valley near Sapa. We do guided trekking tours, that are different from your usual tours offered by other companies. We take you to areas that other tourists do not get to see, so as to keep your experience unique and traditional. Our tour usually treks through the mountains and stays over night in a local family’s house. We welcome you to take a tour with us and experience the REAL Sapa!

Wish I could give more than 5/5 rating! The company is family-owned by indigenous people who seem very happy with the work they do. I had heard some of the other tour agencies could be exploitative of the locals and take you along very busy routes, but didn't get that impression here at all.
Lang answered my enquiry email very quickly so I was able to do the 2D1N trek even though I only booked it a few days before. She was really friendly and helpful and even organised transport from Hanoi to Sapa (on the Sapa Express bus which I also highly recommend). She also came out to meet me along the route, which was nice.
My guide was Lang's cousin Mao who was also extremely nice and spoke excellent English - she was happy to answer any questions I had and told me a bit about her life which was very interesting. She gave me the option to do short or long route, and first I picked long but it quickly became clear that would be too difficult, so she helped me get back down to the short route and several times patiently stopped me sliding over on the muddy track :)
The homestay was great - I was a bit nervous as I didn't know anything about H'Mong culture but the family made me feel very welcome, and it wasn't a problem that I was vegetarian. We also went to Mao's lovely home for lunch on the second day, which was really nice. If I'm ever in Sapa again I'll definitely be getting back in touch with this company :)

Our Homestay experience with Real Sapa was the absolute highlight of our two week trip to Vietnam. We opted to do the 3 day, 2 night difficult trek and it exceeded all expectations! We are considering traveling back to Vietnam just to spend more time with Lang, Duong, and their family.
Lang was extremely helpful and responsive leading up to our trip. She reserved our buses and provided detailed answers immediately, making the trip seamless.
Our trekking guide was Lang’s husband Duong and he was amazing. He took us on gorgeous, low-populated trails where we didn’t see a single other tourist. Duong is an unbelievable hiker who led us on challenging treks and was able to perfectly describe in English the history of the area and all the different tribes.
The Homestay was truly special. We stayed with Lang’s parents and instantly felt like part of the family. They served traditional Vietnamese dinners where we ate with Lang’s entire family and were even able to meet/hold her baby Moon. The food was delicious and you will get to enjoy as many shots of happy water (homemade rice wine) as you can handle.
The people of Real Sapa know the most beautiful, secluded areas and make you part of the family. I would encourage anyone traveling to Vietnam to spend time with Real Sapa.

I just finished a 3D/2N tour with Real Sapa. If you don't have time to read the full review you just need to know that this is 100% authentic experience with local guides who love what they do. It's really an outstanding tour company!
From the beginning Lang organised my transport in and out of Sa Pa, I didn't need to plan anything. Duong (Lang's husband) was my guide and he knows the region like the palm of his hand. He's great company and I learned tons about the area thanks to him. We walked through the rice terraces and mountains, using roads that are only used by the local people working in the fields. I even had the chance to help a family to plant their rice seedlings since the planting season had just started.
The homestays are very comfortable and each family makes you feel like you are at home. The food is very delicious, made with farm grown ingredients. The best thing is that you can even learn how they cook the meals!
I'm sure that by the end of your trip you will want to come back and visit your friends from Real Sapa once again, just like I do.

The Lang Giang family were the highlight of our trip. We did a two day trek (with an overnight) and saw the most incredible views and met some of the nicest people. The Lang Giang family are of the Hmong culture and they were excited to share. The family was beyond welcoming, served amazing food, were flexible (they made special vegetarian dishes for us because we don’t eat meat) and had the cutest family. We had diner with the uncles, aunts, children and grandparents. The family was also willing to engage with us on complex discussions of politics, culture and family. I could not recommend the experience enough!

Meeting Lang and her family and doing this trek was the highlight of our week in Sapa. We arrived during their lunar New year and we enjoyed a New Year feast with their family. The food and ‘happy water’ was so memorable.
Our guide was Mao who was so sweet and flexible for our group’s needs as we had a couple of injuries. We decided to change our second night stay to Lang’s farm stay and were so glad we did as it’s beautiful. If it had been ready earlier we would definitely have booked the rest of our Sapa stay there.
We loved meeting the entire family and felt so welcomed by them all. Being in Sapa for New Year was busy but so incredible to experience the Hmong traditions.

What a wonderful group of local women! Real Sapa and its networks of guides and local small businesses really gave us a thrilling day long experience! Superb trekking with a true local feel of the Sapa region - that’s as unvarnished as possible.
Bonus - they are really good with little children! Our girls ages 5 and 8 loved our guides and how caring they were. We would go with them again in a heartbeat!

We enjoyed our 2D1N intermediate trek through Sapa Valley. Our guide Chee was friendly and told us about the nature and handicraft in the villages. She was not super talkative, but when we had a question she would answer it. Our homestay was very nice. Lang and her family were welcoming and the dinner and breakfast were amazingly good! The beds were comfy and we could even see the sunrise from them through the window. The communication with Lang was excellent (fast email exchange, very good English, interesting conversation at the homestay) and she even helped us with the booking of the bus to Ninh Binh and organized that we could take a shower at the pick-up/drop-off hotel in Sapa.
As we came in the dry season the rice fields were not as pretty, but we still had good weather and nice views. The villages are partially quite touristy with vendors that persistently try to sell you stuff. The landscape was nice though and I would recommend Real Sapa for booking a tour to get more insight into the surrounding. Thank you, Lang & Team!

Had an excellant 3 day hike in the valley, getting to see amazing views, amazing local people and spending a fantastic New Year's Eve at the Black H'hong Homestay with the extended family, incredible food and lots of 'Happy Water' with Mimi. Excellently guided by Lang's cousin Tzi, including some very fine balancing moments for me walking on the rice paddies (in my size 11 hiking boots, 191 cm frame and very heavy rucksack) , and being up close with the Water Buffalo, ducks, cows and clouds.Lang was recommended to me by a friend in Hanoi and I absolutely recommend Lang and Real Sapa.

Our family of 6 (4 teenage kids) had one of our best travel experiences in the hands of Lang. Lang taught us so much about Vietnamese life and it was a privilege to share wonderful meals with her family and friends. Lang led us on a two night trek that was challenging and took in amazing sites. Thank you Lang, you are fantastic!

Every aspect of the trekking was thoughtfully planned and executed by Lang and our guide Moa.
We were stretched and challenged within our personal stamina levels and felt we had genuinely trekked in the mountains.
We may not have reached the tops of the ranges but we definitely felt we had climbed some heights as we crossed the valley from village to village.
The homestays were a great experience and the food provided was delicious. We loved it all.

I am planning on doing the “difficult” trek with 2 nights home stay in late July. What should I pack? Will I be carrying my backpack through the trip? This is no problem as I am a backpacker. I am just trying to figure out how large of a pack I need and what to bring.

Hi I will leave my advice for you and others to read. I would not bring a backpack. I did the exact same with only a day pack containing a few shirts, some underwear and socks, poncho, swimwear, flip-flops, sunscreen, a microfiber towel. This should leave just enough room for the water you will need. I wore my zip-off pants during the trek (It's handy if you might need long pants to protect against bushes/mosquitos/sunburn).
In general I would just say try to pack as light as you can, if you bring a backpack I'm sure you won't be packing light.
Also you can just leave your backpack at your next Hotel or Real Sapa can arrange something.
