It is the best place to see Sapa town from the top of the mountain. It took us around 40 minutes to the top of the mountain with 8 years old. You can see 180 degrees of Sapa town. There are 2 different routes to the top - one easy and one harder but more attractive. We took the harder one when we went up but took the shortcut when we came down. You might be confused about finding the right path to the top as there are no English signs, however, there are some arrow marks on the ground so you follow the arrows.

There are animal statues and a botanical garden too. We spent there around 1.30 hours. You can easily walk from the town. The entry fee is 70k for adults and 35K for kid.

You can access the entrance behind the Church. There's an entrance fee applied. There' re a few attraction on the mountain. The first stop is the Orchid garden, i was told there' re more than 200 types of orchid here but they were not in bloom when i was there. Next noticeable stop is the Peach blossom garden with a few hundreds trees, however we were unlucky as the bloom period just passed. Continue up and you should see Cloud yard and Heaven gate, named so because at certain time of the day, you will be cover by mist/cloud here. It was clear when we reached there though :( So as you see, it all depends on your luck

Hàm Rồng Mountain is located 500m from Sapa town center. The climb to the summit and its orchid garden is relatively interesting. From the summit, altitude around 1.800m panoramic view of the Sa Pa valley, Muong Hoa, and Ta Phin, floating behind the white clouds floating in the sky.
Access from the old stone church and the Ham Rong Hotel, long staircase ( height steps ) to go to the enter of the park . On each side , shops, cafes and restaurants Warning ; the change of temperature is very fast when there are clouds, think to take a light windproof fleece vest

My husband and I spent most of our time in Sapa drenched in rain (July, you know?). Since we wanted to see the mountain views but knew that trekking at this time was ill-advised, we waited for a pocket of sunshine to show up… and it did! So we used this time to hike up Ham Rong Mountain by way of easy walking paths and staircases to see Sapa from a height.

Although the attraction seemed a bit too touristy and quite kitschy in some areas (there was quite a sprinkling of souvenir shops, food stalls, restaurants, man made ponds, cheesy statues, etc. This came with litter too.), you can find some great secluded spots and viewpoints if you don’t mind walking further from where local and foreign tourists usually congregate. Don’t worry, the area is HUGE so there’ll be plenty of space for everyone.

We can say that our 70k/pax entrance fee was well worth it. The flower fields up there were a nice touch too.

Tip: Don’t forget to buy your ticket at the foot of the steps beforehand. We didn’t mind the stall at first and had to go back down the long flight of stairs just to get our entry tickets.

Really easy to get to - just a block behind the church in the center of Sapa. Its easy to spend several hours wandering around up here as there are many trails off of the main trail. Lot of boulders to clamber on and lots of pine trees to marvel at. The heavy fog blocked our view of Sapa, but actually made the experience quite charming. Plenty of little snack carts all the way up to the top to buy water or a quick snack from.

This cost 70,000 VND each to walk up but it was well worth it...great views on a good day...well defined pathway to the top lookout point...can also go further than this if you want,

We left a small portion of our sanity at the gate to Ham Rong mountain.

After two days of hiking through the beautiful valleys surrounding Sapa, we thought a quick walk up to this look out would be a nice way to spend our final morning.

We cannot judge the view as it was very overcast, although I'm sure it would be worth the walk on a clear day. By our standards, the walking was steep although quite short, and the summit can be reached in less than half an hour.

If you travel to Sapa to enjoy the natural environment, this is not the place for you. The manicured gardens, especially the orchid garden have some appeal, but the "theme park" style giant cartoon characters make this a spectacularly cheesy tourist attraction. Add to this the worst music coming from the worst speakers at the loudest volume for most of the walk and it makes for quite a strange experience.

As someone commented earlier, there is no information about the orchids or the gardens, however you definitely do not need a guide to do the walk. Don't be fooled into a package trekking deal that includes a day at Ham Rong Mountain, opt for a free day or another day in the villages instead.

If you have some time to kill the walk is worth a try for the view, and kids might enjoy running around the garden. But if touristy parks are not your thing, perhaps this is best avoided.

Decided to drive around the area and followed some locals using a smaller entrance which led me to this mountain. Simply amazing !! Never regretted my decision. Had to stop myslef from stopping all the time to take pictures and appreciate the view !!

Note : Watch out for falling rocks. Make sure your fuel tank is full before your climb and that your camera has a full battery !
