We had an awesome trip today with our amazing guide, Su! We learnt so much from her, she was so open and search a great guide, checking we were okay with the pace/which route(s) we wanted to take and we learnt so much from her. She also spoke amazing English and was such a friendly person to spend a day with.
The views on our 1 day trek were some of the best I’ve ever seen, such an epic trip worth every penny. Thank you Su!

We were a group of city folks not used to the rigours of mountain hiking so we requested for baby slopes and a gentle pace, since one in the group was a “young”octogenarian!
Our guide Su, started us with a walk through the black Hmong village. We were enthralled by her description of her life as a young Hmong woman with 4 kids and juggling a guiding gig on top of her strenuous domestic chores. She demonstrated the making and weaving of hemp and brought so much of herself into her tales that we felt like her friends at the end of the tour.
Su was very patient with our snail pace and accommodated our requests. We thoroughly enjoyed our leisurely trek and it ended a bit late.
I highly recommend her for her passion as a daughter of her land and her attentiveness to our needs.

Our guide was cha cha he is a good guide with superb navigation and sharing adequate info about the area. The driver was also good provided timely pickup and drop and safe driving.

Overall 5 star experience, cha cha is highly recommended.

We did a two day one night trek with our guide Sue. She was the most amazing guide, great English, extremely informative and we couldn’t recommend her enough. The home stay was comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed the food in the evening. Affordable price compared to the other companies doing it too. Wouldn’t have wanted the experience any other way! Thank you!

3-day trekking in Sa Pa with homestay for two nights. Very nice trip.
Positives: our amazing tour guide Sang, caring, very sweet, she went above and beyond to make sure the tour reflected our needs and was flexible in rearranging plans when we were not feeling well; beautiful landscapes; homestays were generally clean and suitable and the host families were kind and hospitable; food was excellent and portions were generous both in restaurants along the way during trekking and in home stays, including breakfast, and many beverages were available (for a price); breakfast at the hotel when arriving in Sa Pa was also good.
Negatives: the sleeping bus to get to Sa Pa and then to get back to Hanoi was horribly dirty and uncomfortable; when we arrived in Sa Pa in the morning, the hotel did not give us a room to rest and we had to take a shower in the non-private bathroom available near reception, which was uncomfortable.
Suggestions for potential visitors: even though the landscapes were beautiful, in November the rice fields are empty, a visit during the summer would allow to enjoy brighter, more colorful and enjoyable landscapes. Some trekking paths can be quite muddy and/or slippery, so make sure to bring suitable shoes and trousers with you and adequate changing clothes.

We did a 1 day trip to Ta Phin village, followed next day by a trip to Bac Ha market. We really enjoyed our two day trip with our guide May Van as she showed us the county side and 3 villages, including hers. The trekk to Ta Phin is less crowded than the other ones, so barely any tourists and the views are amazing.
Homestay was good as we enjoyed herbal bath and dinner with the family.
Recommend to do the market of Bac Ha (come early to fully enjoy it).
So it was a well organized trek by Nomad Trails and May Van was no nice and experienced. Dha answered all our questions patiently. She also made sure we made it to our bus and stayed with us to wait for it.

An excellent hike, it was a fantastic experience. Despite being a demanding hike, it was quite pleasant and the ladies who accompanied us were very helpful. The guide told several stories and curiosities about the places and ethnic tribes. An experience not to be missed for anyone visiting Sapa.

We chose to do Fansipan plus walk in the paddy fields for 2 days 1 night. The trip was excellent managed and organised. Picked us up from Hanoi and dropped us at Sapa where the tour guide Sue was waiting for us. After lunch, we took the cable car to Fansipan mountain. It took a good 4 hours to go up and come back to the hotel room.
Next day, we trekked to 3 villages and asking the mountain slopes.

The views were amazing and the overall experience was great. Sure was an amazing travel guide - full of energy and genuine care. She was knowledgeable about the place and the history + culture and can communicate in reasonably good English. By the end, it felt like I was going on a hike with my old friend.

We arrived in Sapa from Saigon via Air Vietnam (Saigon-Hanoi) and a red-eye train Fansipan from Hanoi-Laocai where we were met some tour buses that took us into Sapa (about 30min). From there we checked into Chau Long Hotel and joined the local trekking tour with Vietnam Nomads Trail, Our guide Trieu was AWESOME!! showed us all the local houses and trails and was very knowledgeable with the local customs. We were a little overwhelmed by the culture of the local h'mong people and of the trek itself however Trieu was very flexible and kept things at our pace.

There are many local tours in the area and I would definitely recommend Nomad Trails. If you can, ask for Trieu.

Dear CatVyCao, Thank you so much for this fantastic review. It's especially fantastic to know that your guide shared with you the wonderful Sapa experience you were looking for. Trieu loves his job and is willing to share his passion, experiences, also his knowledge of the local poeple & his country. I will pass on your compliments to your guide Trieu. Best regards, Thanh Tan & Vietnam Nomad Trails's team

I visited the Sapa area with a Vietnam Nomad Trails tour in October 2013.
The first day I walked in the beautiful surroundings of Sapa with a guide who clearly took me off the most touristic tracks.
It was a very good day, which matched exactly what I had asked for (sportive walk, with not too many tourists around, as authentic as possible).
I spent the night in a local family with my guide, the evening was very pleasant and interesting and I was very satisfied by this first day.

The second day however, I went to visit a local market and I felt much more like I was a living wallet, all day long, which was very disappointing.
The guide took me to all the touristic shops of the market, and at lunch I was taken to a tourist restaurant with a menu that was far too expensive compared to everything else I ate in the country. This particularly annoyed me as I had asked prior to the visit why the lunch of the second day was “not included” and I had been told that it was because I would be in a village where there would be lots of choices: clearly a lie, there was only one (not very nice) restaurant which was obviously a partner of the Vietnam Nomad Trails company.
The same thing happened again in the evening.

My guide was very nice and bubbly, but to be honest the quality of what he had to teach me about the area was not excellent.

Obviously tourism is a business and there is nothing wrong about that, what disappointed me with Vietnam Nomad Trails is that they market themselves as “upper brand” and they price their excursions accordingly, while really, my second day with them was quite a classic case of “walking a tourist around and try to get as much money as possible from him”.

But as I said my first day was great so I’d still recommend them for trekking in the area.
