- yohanna r2 contributionshighest peak of indochinaAnother tourist attraction that those from world of sun have set up (the same ones from Bana hill). Not bad, the experience with the cable car is quite impressive and there are several very beautiful temples. You can explore the peak and the surrounding facilities in a couple of hours. Exorbitant coffee and food prices and very important make sure that the weather will be good because otherwise you will have wasted your moneyVisited February 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten February 23, 2024
- ElNiño7 contributionsMinh was a great guide for this challenging hikeInitially I wanted to do this hike solo, without a guide but further research showed that this is no longer possible due to local regulations requiring a permit and for you to have a local guide. I would highly recommend contacting Minh (+84 868 139 467) as a guide. He was very communicative in organising the trek and is a great guy to spend a day hiking with. His experience helped to avoid any dangerous or slippery areas. The hike is physically challenging but immensely rewarding. An unforgettable experience!Visited February 2024Traveled soloWritten February 29, 2024

The mountain itself is a nice getaway from the town where you can enjoy the silence. The views are fantastic and it’s quite the unique experience to be up on summit before the hordes of tourists. - giuliojh97 contributions1 day Trek to Fancipan with MinhMy wife and I went for a 1 day Trek to Fancipan with Minh, vietnamese guide from the Hmong tribe. He was such a nice, funny guy, very knowledgeable about the area, which took us to the top and back in 9h. He also prepared us a very good meal at the second hut, 2800m, before summit push. We even got medals and certificates with our names after reaching the peak! We definitely recommend to book with him directly (WhatsApp +84 868 139 467), thus saving the $25 on top for the agency. Be aware that the 1 day Trek, up and down, is a real challenge. DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE IT!Visited February 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten March 4, 2024
- Lauren SPerth, Australia206 contributionsFanispan mountain and cable carSo this experience. I didn’t even know about and stumbled into just thinking it was a normal cable car. But this cable car is something else taking you 3500m up the mountain side to the fanispan peak. We were lucky to have a sunny morning to go up with clear views which were breath taking!! At the top there are many pagodas, temples and statues and you can trek/walk your way to the summit, up lots and lots of stairs for more wonderful views. Or you can take another small train that takes you up there without all the stairs. But if you can, go for the climb, so and steady and enjoy the views! Not easy on the legs though. Going back down in the cable car, the fog had come in and all views were lost, so try and make sure you have a clear day if taking this on.Visited March 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten March 11, 2024
- Joseph HaiSapa, Vietnam93 contributionsFansipan, the destination of a lifetimeComing to Fansipan, by cable car or trekking, you definitely cannot miss checking in at the following locations: **Cloud Court** Located at an altitude of 3000m, San May is an ideal stop to watch spectacular sunrises and sunsets. Standing on Cloud Field, you will admire the sea of floating clouds, creating a majestic scene like a fairyland. The weather at the top of Fansipan is completely different from the weather below in Sapa. Even though it can be rainy and cloudy in Sapa, you can absolutely catch the moment of bright sunshine on Fan peak if you're lucky. **Fansipan Peak** The destination not to be missed is Fansipan peak, the roof of Indochina with an altitude of 3,143m. On the top of the mountain, you can enjoy the feeling of standing on the roof of Southeast Asia, viewing the majestic natural panorama and taking memorable photos. At the mountain top area, Sunworld has created 3 other "peaks" for people to comfortably take check-in photos. Ask the staff up there which peak is the "real" peak to take a memorable photo.Visited December 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten March 15, 2024

- Cheyenne K3 contributionsGreat Guide, great hikeThe hike up to Fansipan was very beautiful! I have to say, however, that it is also relatively strenuous and especially if you want to hike up AND down, you should have an adequate level of fitness. But there is also the option of hiking up only and then taking the cable car down for 800k VND. As far as I know, it is not possible to do the hike without a guide as you cannot enter the national park or if you are caught, you have to pay a fine of VND 3 million. I was travelling with the guide Minh (Tel.: +84 868 139 467). A very friendly man who conjured up a great lunch consisting of fruit and also catered to our personal dietary requirements. Including the cable car, I paid just under 2 million VND, as there were others on my tour, but you can also book Minh on your own. Just write to him on What's app. The view during the hike is worth it.Visited April 2024Traveled soloWritten April 3, 2024

Mt. Fansipan and Rice Terrace trek with Mighty Minh
Aug 2024 • Couples
We had an amazing time trekking with Minh for two days. (+84 868 139 467). We would highly recommend using him as your guide as he is very knowledgeable and helped us a lot during the walks. We simply exchanged a bunch of messages and he arranged an itinerary for us based on our requests and budget. Notably, my girlfriend’s shoes rubbed a crazy amount, and Minh swapped his sandals for hers and carried on no complaints.
Day 1 was a hike up Mount Fansipan. We found it challenging, but a huge sense of accomplishment at the summit. At ‘base camp’ Minh made us Pho and gave us fruit and milk to get us to the top. We managed the hike in around 5h30m and got the cable car back down. Heads up, the cable car is expensive but discounted through Minh.
Day 2 was a trek around the Rice Terraces. Another amazing day. He takes you on a different route to most tours so it feels very personal (you can see a mass of walkers in the distance on a much more crowded route). The rice terraces are beautiful and Fansipan is a big challenge.
Memories to last a lifetime!

Hike work paid off!! Breathtaking view
Nov 2023 • Friends
We chose to hike up Mount Fansipan on a 2D1N adventure. Did our research prior to this hike and we kept stumbling upon a tour guide named Minh. We contacted Minh and he was quick with his replies and indeed the reviews were right! Minh provided us with all the necessities needed to make our hike a wonderful experience. You can hit up Minh via WhatsApp at +84 868 139 467. Minh speaks great english and will arrange everything from hotel pick up, permits, certificate/medal, food when we reach our hut and even had hot pot for dinner as it got freezing cold at night. Minh arranged a private room in the hut to sleep at night with a simple mattress and sleeping bags to act as blankets. You just have to bring your own jackets, proper layering and hiking/trekking gears.
The hike was extremely tough for us as we didn’t had the best of fitness levels but witnessed fit hikers took it like a stroll in a park. There were challenging conditions and obstacles and what really hit me was the endless amount of stairs needed to reach the summit. Elevation was gradual so adapting to the altitude was fine but my oh my i repeat the stairs!!
The aim for this hike was to reach the top at sunrise to enjoy the view and have the summit all to yourself. Yes! it was only those who hiked and reach the summit at sunrise then you can enjoy the summit by yourselves. If you (like us) are heading back down via cable car then we had to wait till 9am when the cable car ticket booth opened, it will cost you VND800,000 per person, you can pay by cash or card. Which then immediately at 9am you can witness how packed the place got when it opens to public.
The view at the summit was very beautiful, we were so high up the you could only see mountain tops and a sea of clouds. Not sure if it was worth the exhausting hike but it was definitely an experience i would remember.

Worth Doing in Sapa
Jan 2023 • Family
Fansipan is actually a really amazing place to visit, the temples and Buddha’s are spectacular and walking up the steps are invigorating. We had a cloudy day but still got to see the valley below on the cable car up and the tops of mountains to give us a sense of how high we were. Well worth It, but be prepared.
We bought our ticket at 10 am (3rd Jan) at the starting point in Sapa (Sunworld at the corner of the square) you catch a train from there then arrive at the base building about an hour later.
After walking to the top we were about to head down at 12.15 only to find the cable car was closed due to technical difficulties. There was one announcement telling us this but no others followed. We must have waited 4 hours sitting on the cold floor with children waiting near the doors to the cable car before we were told by staff
( not a public announcement) that a technician would be arriving at 5pm. At 6pm (still no further announcements) they did hand out a 3rd of a cup of free jasmine tea and biscuits.. . We were then all of a sudden told it was going and everyone was quite quickly evacuated down the mountain at 6.15pm. The worst thing was that there was barely heating in the building, luckily we had dressed warmly for the top of the mountain but not the case for everyone. One person ended up receiving medical treatment while lying on the floor!
Some of those who were on the cable car when it broke down had to return to the top after being stuck in the cars for 2 hours.
I realise things happen and it’s good to be careful when it comes safety but in most other countries there would be announcements to keep you up to date and free hot drinks or at least discounted food for the inconvenience. When we saw mattresses and blankets coming out just prior to 6pm we thought we would be spending the night!!
The staff were very nice but it’s obvious the management need to brush up on how to handle situations like this in the future particularly when the cable car is the only way up or down.
I’d give this 5 but for our experience. I’m still glad we did it.

Tough but rewarding hike
Jul 2023 • Couples
I climbed Mount Fansipan in July ‘23, along with my boyfriend (who is a big fan of hiking). Fansipan was one of the first mountains I’ve ever hiked up, after reading lots of reviews we chose Minh (WhatsApp +84 868 139 467) as our guide. Unfortunately Minh was unavailable so his cousin, Chú was our guide. Chú was an excellent guide, he had a strong pace but would make sure to wait for us, and provided a very tasty lunch. it was certainly a hard climb up and I would say you need a good level of fitness to complete it. Getting to the top of Fansipan was a fantastic feeling, at the top Chú even bought us certificates and medals. The high of reaching the top lasted for an hour or so for our climb down. We decided we didn’t want to pay full price for the cable car, although having completed the hike both ways I would highly recommend taking the cable car down for beginners! The way down was going well, until it didn’t, I hit a complete wall and my knees felt like they were breaking. Chú was encouraging and understood how I felt, allowed me as many breaks as I needed. Embarrassment and determination to get off the mountain spurred me on. We took 5 hours up and about 6/7 hours down. It was very relieving to get down, an experience I’ll never forget and would encourage others to try! Minh and Chu were very attentive and even checked in with me the next day.

A Rewarding Hike of incredible natural beauty
Apr 2024 • Couples
We had an incredible day hiking Fanispan with Minh, a local guide with excellent knowledge of the mountain. We messaged him on WhatsApp when we arrived in sapa (+84 86 8139467) and hiked with him a couple of days later. He organised the taxi, passes, water, a’d prepared a lovely noodle soup for lunch 2/3s up the mountain. The hike was not technically difficult but is arduous and you need a good level of physical fitness to complete without difficulty. However the many climbs are worth the incredible views. If you go in march you will see many beautiful rhododendrons in bloom, when we hiked in April we still saw a few but we were told that the mountain is covered in them in march. If you want to hike up and down I would advise doing over 2 days. We hiked up and got the cable car down which although it is expensive (800k per person) is worth it to rest tired legs and see the amazing feat you have just accomplished.

Wonderful hike, no luck with sight on the summit
Apr 2024 • Couples
We had our hike led by our guide Minh (+84 868 139 467). Arrangements were made very easily and Minh took care of all the mandatory paperwork demanded by park authorities. Whether this was all necessary, I cannot tell. The hike itself is straight forward, but it is much more fun with a guide like Minh who always made sure, we were well.
Our reasonable price was 3.400k Dong for a group of 3 including the entrance fee, transfer to/from the park, water, soda, and lunch.
We highly recommend Minh and wish everybody else more luck with sight to make the hiking experience complete.

Windy summit
Apr 2024 • Couples
The mountain itself and the temples and structures on top of the summit were beautiful. Whatever they are trying to do at the bottom of the mountain is strange. They have animals made out of plants and it feels like they're trying to make it more touristy? I wish they would keep it more traditional. That is just my opinion. However, there was a lovely woman who was weaving on a loom and she invited me over to show me how it worked and let me weave a few rows which was a DREAM!
We took all the assisted transportation's up there (cable car, mover, etc) and walked back down after reaching the summit. It was WAY colder and windier up there than I expected, but also very peaceful. The views are wonderful and it was great to wander around and there not be many people.
However, I do think it is overpriced in comparison to most other activities in this region. For one person it was 1,130,000 DONG (equivalent to ~$45 USD)

Guided hike up fansipan
Feb 2023 • Couples
Decided on a 2D1N hike up fansipan to beat the crowd to the summit and catch the sunrise. Well worth the effort, although the going can get hard at times. Total climb time for someone with average fitness is under 6 hours.
Would recommend a local guide over a tour group as they can work around your itinerary with greater flexibility. Our guide Minh was a great cook, and doubled up as a porter at times. Highly recommend. (+84868139467)

A Must- Do Activity While in Sapa
Jul 2024 • Family
We were so happy we went with a local trekking tour guide as suggested by previous reviews. Minh spoke English and he was so genuine and friendly. I went with my teenager and young adult children, and they both loved it! In total, we trekked for 4 hrs but the time just flew by! We ate at a delicious local restaurant and visited an authentic Hmong village with beautiful handcraft items. It was a cloudy day which was perfect weather for us, and we saw many buffalos and free-range chickens along our path. The views we saw were incredible! Contact Minh directly for a more unique experience and very reasonable rate (+84 868 139 467). Thanks for giving us such a wonderful memory to treasure for years to come, Minh!

Fancy Fansipan?
Jan 2025 • Solo
Hi all, I recently did the Fansipan one day ascent and descent hike and thoroughly recommend it, especially if you like a challenge. A longish day, about 8-9 hrs for an oldish bloke, who's fairly fit. It's multi-terrain, with some short scrambles and bolted metal ladders for the trickier sections. The day was made even more special with the help of my guide Minh, who was keen to share his knowledge and stories of the mountain, ensured that I was safe at all times and made all arrangements, e.g., transport, park fees, drinks, and a poncho as well as cooking up a hearty brunch. If you fancy climbing Indochina's highest peak, get in touch with him. 100% recommended. WhatsApp: +84 868139467

Hi,may I know if there is a snow on a top of fansipan mountain in January?
Written January 3, 2024
Hello, if you are lucky yes you will see snow in January.
December to February winter months in Sapa. If temperature around 0 degrees Celsius.
I have seen snow Dec end, New Year's time.
I hope this helps.

Hi hoping to go in late April, how is the weather then?
Written February 6, 2020
Hi! I was there last April and it was extremely foggy, we couldn’t see anything at the top. Unfortunately I understood that it is like that every day that time. When riding the cable car, we went through some layers of clouds, so a little bit of views on the way there.
Sa Pa is known of its thick fog during winter/spring time. That happens because the village is in a bowl-like valley where the fog gets stuck. With my logic that shouldn’t be the case at the top, then, so I think there is hope for some clear skies for example in the afternoon. But as for me, in the morning when I was there, absolutely no scenery that you could see.
When it comes to the temperatures, it was 15-20+ celsius in the village and +4 degrees at the top.

Hi, I would like to know, will we have breathing difficulty on the peak ? I am taking my 12 year old with me
Written January 22, 2020
Perhaps. My young boy, 10 years, was having fever and surpressed by paracetamol. When we were up at the Fansipan mountain, he had breathing difficulty and need to took cat nap in the open space up in the mountain. My elderly father, also had to rest a lot up in the mountain as he also experienced breathing difficulty. But, it was worth the trip.

Taking the cablecar to the top of Fansipan Mountain on 16 December at around 10am. I checked the weather forecast and it said it will be around -5 degrees celcius. I’m a little skeptical though, will it really be that cold? What would you advise me to wear? All help is appreciated :)
Written December 8, 2019
hI Fearless..
Well, Sapa is in the North of Vietnam.
And yes it is the coldest part of the country.
So if it states -5 degrees then it will require sturdy footwear and warm clothing.
As you get to the top the air is alot thinner and cold even before the cold weather sets in.
So please go prepared..
You read the forcast for a reason..
Trust it..
The weather and cloud conditions change by the min not the hour.
