My wife and I did a 2 day trek and 1 night with Sue and it was exceptional. After getting the overnight train from Hanoi, Sue met us at the Sapa church in the morning. Due to her religious beliefs Sue was unable to trek with us herself the first day, but her aunt May was our guide instead for a spectacular day of trekking. May was an excellent guide with very good English, who taught us all about the different villages and the flora and fauna of the valley. We stopped into Mays village along the way where we met her mother and she showed us the traditional tools used to make rice flour and weave material. She also invited us to her house for tea and a rest from the trekking.
We arrived at Sues homestay that evening and met her husband and youngest son. A delicious home cooked meal was made for us (more food than we could manage to eat), helped down with some ‘happy water’ rice wine. Exhausted and with full bellies, we retired to bed early.
I’m the morning Sue’s husbands sister and her husband, and another family friend joined for breakfast, which was equally as good a spread as dinner the night before. The Hmong drink whenever they have visitors, regardless of the time of day, so breakfast was accompanied by a few mugs of tiger beer for the men. After breakfast we trekked with Sue until the afternoon, while she taught us about the Hmong way of life and traditions.
I can honestly say that this was one of the best experiences we had in our almost 4 weeks in Vietnam and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone!

Su Linh her English is very good which makes communication so much easier. She offers individual tours which makes the experience much more personal and authentic. She lives in a woorden house with her family that have a beautiful view over the Sapa mountains. After the trek we came here to rest and to drink some tea and chit chat. In the evening we helped preparing dinner and enjoyed it together. So interesting to see how her husband helps her cooking in the fireplace. They also washed our muddy shoes and put them next to the fire to dry. I think I looked the most forward to learn about the traditional clothing and so Su Linh let me wore her clothing and also brought us to à museum that explained the history of Sapa and displayed the clothing for the different ethnicities. At our stay Sapa was very rainy and muddy and Su Linh took us the second day on a trekking that had more dry roads. She also made sure we were on time for our bus and arranged the transport + protected our Backpack. We did not stay at her house because we booked another accomodation and she accompanied us each time we had to leave or came pick us up at the homestay. I would recommend Su Linh for her kindness, knowledge and the ability to adapt your journey to what you personally want. She is devoted in what she does and it will be sure an unforgettable experience.

looking for an authentic experience? Then book direct with Su lihnfamily trekking and home stay via facebook.I just spent the most amazing 3 days trekking and staying with su lihn, her husband and 2 children at Su lihn family homestay. She picked me up in Sapa town and we walked for 6hr down the valley through some less touristy tribal villages, rice paddy fields, stopping to snap pictures of the most stunning mountain views. lunch at local restaurant (include) and continued our trek arriving at Su lihn home stay late afternoon. After tea on the terrace,a hot shower I helped prep dinner, learned to make spring rolls and ate local dishes. The next day we headed up the mountain with lunch in Sulihn's basket. Awesome views and no tourist. Su lihn shared her knowledge of local plants, traditions of her tribal culture as we walked at a steady pace, taking in the views as we went.We returned to the homestay for another tasty dinner, rice wine etc. 3rd day we headed along the valley through bamboo forrests and passed a waterfall, watch buffalo graced on the banks of the rice paddies. lunch at local restaurant before transfer back to Sapa (luggage taken care of). Su Lihn is the kindest of people and nothing is took much trouble, her spoken English is excellent, written English less so. She is one of the few guides that runs her own business and that you can book direct with. book su lihn via facebook you will not regret it.

Su was recommended to us by some others we had met along our travels, we are so glad we booked with Su. It felt more personal having a private tour compared to the large groups of 15+ that we saw as we could really have a chat and get to know Su and the H’mong way of life. We stayed at her house for one night and it was the comfiest night of our trip so far, Su and her husband cooked us a delicious meal and made sure none of us went hungry! We will highly recommend her to anyone else visiting Sapa!

After meeting Su at our hotel we started our 6 hour trekking journey through the amazing mountains of Sapa, slowly disappearing deeper and deeper into the villages. Where we got to see views like no other, felt like something out of a movie or a mythical forest at times. Through our time with Su she taught us about the Hmong culture and different plants we could use as medicine if we ever needed it. She told us her humble story, of how she grew up and the struggles she has over came to be where she is today. We also helped make the best spring rolls we’ve ever tried. My friends and I had a once in a life time experience here with Su and her family, sharing jokes, storytelling, cooking, and learning. An overall 12/10 experience and a place not to miss if you come to Sapa.

We arrived in Sapa by the night bus and met Su in the early morning. Her husband came to take our bags so we could immediatly start trekking.
The 2 days experience was incredible, with some of the most beautiful landscapes we had ever seen.
Su is a black Hmong and has lived in the mountains her whole life so she was able to explain many practices of the local people and their way of living, which is very different from the one of big cities inhabitants. Booking a local guide like her and not a vietnamese tour guide was our best decision of the trip. She speaks very good english so the communication was easy.

We met her family on the evening, and we spent a wonderful night with her husband, two sons and Milou! Su is very funny and has many stories to share.

I highly recommend trekking with Su, we learnt so much and loved every minute of it.

After a tiring sleeper (not) bus ride we were picked up early by "Su" or one of the Su's working as a guide. She understood our lack of sleep and took us quietly through the beautiful fields and nature of Sa Pa. We were allowed to choose the ingredients for our lunch that Su later cooked herself. During our hike we were accompanied by an unknown lady who spoke almost no English and Su kept it to "later shopping". At lunch, the unknown lady brought out all kinds of merchandise ... then we knew who she was. We felt somewhat obliged to buy something, given her help during the hike. Even during the hike, children and older ladies cling to you to buy something. After 2 bracelets and 2 bags we had enough, but saying "no thank you" endlessly plus the pushy behavior is tiring, unfortunately. The guided walks themselves are amazing! We crossed fantastic green spots with exceptional views and we slept in an incredible homestay (bamboo bar + Daisy's buffalo stay) where we ate delicious and slept well. We had a really pleasant talk with the owner as well. Time this hike just before the harvest of the rice! Su ended the hike with a visit to her house where we ate, most hospitable and a lovely experience.

WOW!!!! What an amazing experience. For such an inexpensive price my three friends and I shared what we agreed was the most memorable, amazing experience of our SouthEast Asia trip. Su and her family were so kind and welcoming, and having been born and raised in SaPa Valley they shared many knowledgeable tidbits and Su knew the Valley like the back of her hand. The trek was a wonderful experience, I can’t believe how beautiful the rice fields were! We were not expecting much for the lunch because of the cheap price, but we were delighted to find out Su’s husband was an excellent chef. The lunch was awesome! We loved our time there so much that we decided to stay as Su hosts a home stay as well. They were very accommodating and got that arranged for us at the last minute. The house included all amenities we needed, fast wifi and hot showers. Over all a 10/10 experience and we would recommend to anyone!

We had the most memorable time trekking and staying with Su and her family. Su made our tour so easy, from the originally enquiring, sorting luggage, cooking food I could eat (I have coeliac disease) to planning our daily treks. We stayed over Christmas (3 days 2 nights) and while Hmong people don’t celebrate Christmas, Su made sure we had a extra special day, it’s a Christmas we won’t forget for a while!!
When you stay with Su and her family it’s not just about the trekking the beautiful rice terraces, Su shares her knowledge, local traditions and the everyday life of Hmong people living in Sapa.

We did a 2 Day Trekking tour with Su Linh! We had a great time her. She is very smart, friendly ans Sprays Food English. She knows a lot about the region and about the people. Su Linh told us very much about her life as a Hmong women. She avoids the touristic roads und went on small paths through ricefields, Bambooforest and to a waterfall. We had a lot of great views on the Sapa Valley. We slept in her home and felt very comfortable there. She cooked together with her husband and us. The dinner was very delicious! Also the second day with a lot of trekking and a waterfall was awesome! We really recommend the tour with Su Linh and the overnight stay in her house!
