People tend to live fish and meat, but do not know where it is "produced". On this market you see and smell the slaughtering of chicken, geese, frogs, fish.. It is definetly an eye opener for most tourists.

amazing experience with people and shops packed everywhere with motorbikes managing to ride through... no angry reactions from the people, everybody is calm and friendly and you will see vegetables, fish, meat, fruit in abundance, a Wonderfull colorful sight. worth while!

Its good to walk around a local market and see the fresh produce that is available. I always see some new food item that I havent seen before and I was with vietnamese friends who bought some for me to try which adds to the interest. This is not a tourist market and so dont expect a lot of english to be spoken. Also had a coffee along the river which was a nice way to relax.

We walked through this market in a hurray, pot holes, dirty, very dirty, smelly and just not inviting. Been to many markets in Asia and this would rate in the lowest.

As with all the markets in Vietnam, I find them very interesting and I always look for the weird and wonderful - and this market is no exception. Don't expect a clean market as in Australia or Europe, this one can be a bit smelly. Also, toilets are not good.

The place has been discovered before and all the market ladies have their English menu ready in hand. Some even speak English or have someone nearby to help out. Food is reasonably priced, a bit cheaper than other cities (about 5K). Quality is decent but not sensational. Food in Can Tho is a bit better.

a very good market with a lot of choice, it's a local market so not so much to buy souvenirs but great to observe every day life of the Vietnamese people

What can I say? I hated this place. It's dirty, ugly and the roads full of people who drive badly. Really BADLY.
People just stare at you like you're some kind of zoo animal. One guy touched my arm and made funny noises. We couldn't find anyone speaking English. Or maybe they just don't want to understand you, always giving the "no English"-wave.
The tourist office has a guy who speaks good English. But the 25 $ for the speedboat is too much.
The part from Chau Doc to the border was an old wooden boat.

Typical Asian wet market, with meats, vegetables, condiments and spices arrayed. Low slung plastic tarp roofing makes it stifling hot after 11am, and good for shorter people.

Went by the market this morning and was amazed by all the different fish preparations. Walking through the dried and prepared fish products was a great photographic experience. Bought some fresh fruit from the market and ate it by the river.
