Excellent beach outing with family and friends. Wear light clothes. Bikini maybe objected. Very conservative local population. Drinking openly is not permitted. Paid parking facility by the beach side available at government rates. Old lighthouse, cliff side view of the beach are a few best attractions apart from the amazing sunset. Check sunset timings before you venture out so that you don't miss the spectacular view. Weather is comfortable with light clothes during November to February. I enjoyed cycling from Trivandrum to kovalam early hours of the day following the National Highway. Tender Coconut water is an absolute relish and refreshing after the workout. Eating joints and bar are available at affordable prices. This is one of the few best beaches I have seen in India. Do not miss the fun.

This is one of the best beaches of kovalam. Not much of crowd and there are not much activities do either. But ideal place if one wants to sit back and relax on the beach with going for an odd shower or two in the beach.

Hawah Beach, or Eve Beach, supposedly named after the hippies who came here in the seventies, is the quieter of the two main beaches at Kovalam - I'm not including Samudra or Rockholm beaches here. The hippies have long gone, unless they are some of the expats who gather in the restaurants at Lighthouse Beach end. Hawah is connected directly to Lighthouse Beach at the low rocky headland so it's possible to walk the length of both beaches if you prefer to keep moving rather than lie out in the sun.
Unlike Lighthouse Beach, Hawah isn't backed by restaurants and hotels. At the Lighthouse Beach end there's the principal access to both beaches by taxi and tuk tuk, sun beds and boogie boards for hire and trips in speedboats. This is where the fishermen bring in their ring seine fishing catches. There's nothing much at all at the other end apart from a restaurant bar which doesn't do much business in the low season. Five years or so ago there was a chap who hired out sunbeds at this end the beach over the busy period but he wasn't there in the low season this year. In the evening local families come down to the beach and it can be good fun watching everyone enjoying themselves. On Christmas Day an armada of fishermen from nearby Vizhinjam invade the beach, some a little worse for wear, but a contingent of very smart policemen is present to make sure nothing gets out of hand.

More than 50 ferocius stray dogs control this smal beach of 300 meters streach. When I took a early morning walk along the beach I was attacked by 6 dogs which left a traumatised experiance of my holiday. The beach is littered with dog poo and one has to look down and walk to avoid stepping on dog poo. Also general garbage fill the beach. The worst beach on earth. Anyone who have travelled other countries, would appriciate the fantastic beaches in the neighbouring countries such as Maldives, Srilanka, Thailand, Malaysia and Bali which offer good value for money holiday. I made a written complaint to the tourist facilitation centre, located in the Leela Hotel compound and unfortunately no action being taken to remove these dogs in the beach and the suronding areas. These dogs pose a serious threat of passing rabies to tourist. If you care for your health and safety, then avoid this beach and Kovalam.

Hawa Beach was easily accessible having clean water and white sand properly maintained better suited for family outing. Shops and eatables were nearby.

Expect people to stare if you are in a bikini :) And yes, you will be hassled constantly by vendors, but lovely aside from that

This is just next to the LightHouse Beach which is bigger and more crowded. This beach on the other hand is smaller and less crowded. The water is blue and beautiful, and the beach itself is clean. It is lined with beach resorts, shops and shacks which serve delicious fresh sea food. This beach seems to be more popular among the foreign tourists. The sunset at this beach is very beautiful too.

Depends on where you are staying.
If you are staying at Kovalam it’s all just walking distance. At a 90 degree right turn, just before you reach the Hotel Leela junction is where you need to take a Left turn and the road goes quite a down hill. Once you reach that beach head Left again. There are some shops & a rock formation. What’s left to that is Hawa Beach
If going from Trivandrum City, it’s by public Bus or cab. For public bus, you can catch one either from East fort or from Thambanoor Bus stand. Opt for the Volvo buses. They would be more comfortable.
If taking a cab opt for OLA or Uber
