My family of four took a tour to LeConte Glacier with Scott and his wife Julie. It was an amazing trip! We arrived on a cruise ship, so they picked us up at our dock, which was very convenient. The boat was very comfortable, with a fast and smooth ride. There are many icebergs on the way which are certainly hazardous, but Scott is an excellent, experienced pilot. He was able to navigate us to within just a few hundreds yards of the glacier face. We saw a lot of calving, which was just spectacular. An added bonus for our July visit was seeing the huge seal rookery on a large ice flow in front of the glacier. There were probably a hundred baby seals enjoying the sunshine, an amazing sight. Scott and Julie were a wealth of interesting information about the glacier and the surrounding area, and let us stay in the glacier area as long as we liked. We thoroughly enjoyed their company, and felt like we had made new friends in Petersburg. Overall it was a wonderful trip, and I recommend Alaska Passages without reservation.

Captain Scott Hursey has inherent local knowledge of the waters and whales. His M/V Pelican is a comfortable vessel for an all day trip. The whales are incredible and listening on the hydrophone enhances the experience. Just go with Scott you’ll be amazed.

Highly recommend a tour of LeConte Glacier with Captain Scott Hursey. His knowledge and 30 years of experience make him the best possible captain and guide for a breathtaking and daring tour of Alaska’s most active glacier. His boat Pelican comfortably navigated the dense field of icebergs to bring us right to the face of the glacier. After a whole summer of touring Southeast Alaska by boat, our one day with Alaska Passages remains most memorable. .

We spent 2 wonderful days with Scott on The Pelican and would highly recommend his tours. We did one day of whale watching and one day at the LeConte Glacier. Scott is very experienced with great knowledge of and love for the areas he guides in. He took great care to point out all of the different animals, young birds, and beautiful sights. We saw 50+ whales on our whale watching trip, and even got to see 2 breach! The boat is comfortable and safe, and we appreciated that it had a small bathroom too, as we were out on the water all day.

We enjoyed an amazing Humpback whale watching excursion in Fredrick Sound. We saw so many whales all around the boat. Scott knows where to go and goes out of his way to ensure a great experience. This was a very special day. The only way it could have been better was if we saw a whale or two breach but that's a bit outside of his control! Perhaps a great excuse to go back. This made the trip.

This was highlight of our trip. Scott is very knowledgeable and enhances the trip. Highly recommend, do not miss this tour. The boat is very comfortable with lots of windows and warmth, and has a toilet too! Would do this trip over and over.

This tour is impressive, even for lifelong Alaskans! Scott was a great guide filled with a ton of knowledge about the area, and the glacier was incredible. The field of icebergs on the way was definitely one of my highlights, besides watching families of seals play and cuddle on the ice with the backdrop of LeConte glacier behind them.

If you're in Petersburg this is not one to miss!!

I highly recommend this your as it was a more intimate option in a smaller vessel. Indoor seating and heat were cozy and comfortable. There is a toilet to use (no buckets) They had granola bars, sparkling water, and coffee available. Captain Scott has been to the glacier several hundred times and had wonderful stories and information to share during the tour.

Just hanging out in the boat waiting for parts of the glacier to fall. Hearing to the ice tapping and scrapping against the boat. Listening to the ice crackle and release air. It was like floating at the top of an iced tea. Looking for the mountain goats and seagull babies. Trying to get closer to the harbor seals 🦭 and there pups these last couple weeks that they’re together. Hearing the delayed cracking of some part of the iceberg and trying to see where parts will fall and if you can see them emerge after the plunge.

We had an amazing trip up to the glacier with Captain Scott. He was so knowledgeable, having been in these waters for 30+ years. We were up close to so many icebergs, and the glacier was spectacular! Would highly recommend a trip with Captain Scott!

Captain Scott Hursey facilitated a magnificent run to La Conte glacier in his very capable and comfortable boat, Pelican. We saw orcas on the way to and from the La Conte. Scott kept us a respectful but accessible distance to these beautiful creatures. And what a safe but close-up look at the glacier and all the bergs along the way!! Scott is so experienced and capable while maneuvering among the thousands of ice bits that we felt completely at ease to take in the magnificent frozen scenery. We saw huge glacial calving, sea lions and their pups afloat on the ice bergs, and nesting gulls along the cliffs. No mountain goats, tho, on this run. Next time. Scott even provided door-to-door service right to our boat moored in Petersburg’s North Harbor. I can’t recommend Captain Scott and Alaska Adventures enough. Call him.
