My fiancé and I signed up for a private three hour trail ride and we had so much fun. As an experienced rider who travels a lot, I often wish trail rides could be a little more exciting. I heard that this company allows advanced riders to go faster so we signed up. I left notes when I signed up suggesting the types of horses that would suit me and my fiancés best as I love a horse with speed and he needed one that was calmer. When we arrived, our guide, Hope, introduced us to our horses, who were clearly well fed and cared for. Hope was very friendly and talked with us the whole time, answering our questions about the area and the horses. She never questioned my ability or knowledge about horses which I really appreciated. We were able to gallop along the river quite a few times and it was a highlight of our trip to Alaska! The horses were very well suited for our respective riding abilities. Most trail riding companies have sour horses who are dull and completely unresponsive, but these horses were energetic and happy to do their jobs. I think this is due to the fact that the company allows clients with experience to ride faster but also because the guides take the horses out for fun after work to let them run and just have a good time. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and I highly recommend this company for both long-time riders and people who have never been on a horse alike. I have been on many trail rides in many states but this was the best!

I had the most amazing experience with Alaska Horse Adventures . Chose the 1,5 hour ride. At first, I was a bit nervous because I had very little experience, but the guide and horses quickly calm my nerves. The guide was sweet and patient (unfortunately cannot remember her name)The journey started through a muddy forest. The horses handled the terrain beautifully, showing how well trained and calm they are. As we came out of the forest, we were greeted by a breathtaking view of the mountains and a river. Our guide was fantastic-knowledgeable, friendly, and make sure everyone was comfortable and enjoying the ride. I highly recommend this company to anyone looking for an awesome outdoor experience

Guide was great and even started our tour earlier since it didn't take as long as we thought to get there! The 1.5 hours was about 2/3rds wooded with some inclined and declines that for a few steps were steep, but manageable for rookie riders and there were some tight turns at times but the horses handled it great and were really well behaved and easy to control as they know the route well and follow the leader like a champ. One of the best, if not the best, trail ride experience we have had for riders who only get on a horse for tours like this when we travel internationally (this was our 5th time trying an experience like this). Highlight of the 1.5 hour ride was the 15-20 minutes we spent "walking on water" as we rode the horses not along the shoreline but straight out into the water for 1/2 mile from shore as we were in awe of the mountain view and the unique perspective surrounded by water (thankfully it was steady depth of about 1/2 - 1 foot).

We went on a 3 hour ride and had a fantastic time. Our guide was Mercy and her younger brother Andrew came with us too. They were both so fun to ride with and Mercy was a great guide. The ride had a good mix of different terrain. We went through the woods and on the beach and were able to do water crossings which was really fun. The Knik glacier is beautiful. We stopped at a great view point to have snacks which was a perfect little break. We highly recommend riding with Alaska Horse Adventures!

Our family had a fabulous experience on a private 1.5 hour trail ride with Megan! I appreciated that helmets were provided, and she made sure we all felt comfortable before starting off. The ride through the forest was beautiful, only to be eclipsed when we emerged onto the beach of the lake formed by the runoff from Knik glacier! We actually rode through the water which was such a cool experience! Megan took pictures for us and made sure we have a fantastic time! A highlight of our trip to Alaska!!

What an unforgettable experience! We had a booking, and it got a little messed up, but the owner took care of it right away and we were able to have a wonderful ride! Megan was an outstanding guide, and we loved it that hobo (her dog) came along with us for the ride. The horses were some of the best trail horses we've ever ridden. The horses were so friendly and docile. The scenery was spectacular. I am so glad that we had this experience. BEST. RIDE. EVER.

My daughter (6) and myself have been so excited for this horse tour since we booked months ago…. And it did not disappoint !! My daughter described this as “the best day ever!” Our guide Megan was patient, knowledgeable and kind and made me feel at ease letting my daughter be close to her during the ride (just in case). 10/10 from us! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This ride was very beautiful! I also appreciated my guide taking my riding experience into consideration and made it not just a "nose to tail" trail ride. Also, thank you to Hobo for your wonderful scouting efforts!

We went horseback riding with our three kids (ages 8, 11, 13) and the whole family absolutely loved it! It was one of our favorite days in Alaska despite it being a rainy day. The company had all the gear we needed to stay dry and warm. The views were incredible and we even were able to ride the horses through the water at the beach. An unforgettable day!

It was a rainy day. We have mud boots and a rain jacket. They offered us a Duster to cover ourselves. But our gear was fine for the weather. In the tree area we didn’t really noticed the rain much. We got to the river and it quit raining while we were on the river.

We decided this year to do something a little different. So we secured two of the sleighs Alaska Horse Adventures has to offer to fit ourselves our 5 boys and their 3 wives plus one grandbaby! The weather was heavy snow and the trip from Anchorage took about 45 mins longer than we would anticipate. In fact the weather was so bad, 6 of our party could not make it past the traffic and had to cancel. Bummer! We had already cancelled our first trip due to bad weather and an accident on the Glenn that kept most of us from making it to the farm, so we decided not to cancel again and press on. It was not what we had all hoped for, but the snow this year has been epic, so plan accordingly to get to the farm in time!. The sleighs were beautiful. The Belgian Draft Horses were huge and ONE pulled our sleigh with 6 of us in it for an hour with ease! Our guide was pleasant and we enjoyed fun conversation and a quiet smooth ride through the woods and across a snowy field. Afterwards, we enjoyed hot chocolate made by our guide and stood around a warm fire to talk and enjoy the rest of our evening. We will do this again, just remember to plan plenty of travel time if the weather is wild!

The owner called us a day before our trip saying that he was short-handed and asked if we could reschedule. We called back right away to cancel the trip because we will leave the next day. He didn’t reply until the next morning, telling us he found somebody to help so we can still go. That was only 2 hours before the trip! And by then we had made other plans and couldn’t make it to the trip because he told us to reschedule! In the end he only refunded us 20% of the price and we have to pay 80% for the mistake he made! This doesn’t make sense at all!

My husband and I booked a 3 hour private ride as we are experienced riders and advised of such when we booked. We were a little disappointed, therefore, when this had not been taken into account when we arrived.

The trail through the woods and to the beach is nice enough but there are no opportunities to ride at more than a walking pace. When we got to the beach our guide did allow us a short canter at our request but it was apparent the horses were not accustomed to it and she couldn't join us as she was riding a mule and they don't really do more than trot.

We felt the ride was expensive at over 600 USD for the two of us when it didn't really match our expectations. The guide was a nice woman and the horses were well behaved and sure footed but this is a commercial set up geared towards vacationers and not IMO suited to the experienced rider.

Our experience was quite disappointing. My husband and I booked a private 1 1/2 hour private ride - the horses were great, calm and easy to ride. The majority of the trail was through wooded areas which was quite underwhelming. A short part was along a lake. Throughout the entire ride, our guide did not offer any commentary or engage in conversation. If you are looking to just ride a horse, then this would work for you. The price we paid did not justify the excursion.

My husband and I spent our 19th wedding anniversary on the 3 hour ride with Alaska Horse Adventures. We both have limited experience with horses and felt that this was a perfect adventure for our skill level. Rebecca was our guide and did an excellent job of introducing us to our rides (Princess and Bombo) and helping us to orient to riding. We spent the ride time on meandering trails that snake through the woods and opened onto the Knik River. We loved the views and as local Alaskans will recommend to our friends and family! After our ride we were able to feed the horses apples which we loved.

My daughter and I booked this trip on our first trip to Alaska. My daughter is a very experienced rider, and I am a beginner. The horses were well care for and great trail horses. The area had experienced a lot of rain and the trail was pretty muddy (can't be helped by the business). Ask about the conditions in advance to prepare. The guide was an experienced rider and gave good safety and basic steering your horse information. Halfway through the ride we came out of the wooded trail to the beach which was breathtaking, and the guide took pictures with our phones. I would highly recommend this ride for adults or older teens with some riding experience.

The sleigh ride through the woods and onto the river bar was magical, couldn't have been more beautiful or fun. We will be making this a holiday tradition with family and friends. Alaska Horse Adventures did a great job and we loved hearing about the beautiful sister pair of draft horses that were pulling the sleigh and kept wanting to go faster:-) and about the new hand built sleigh.

The trails through the woods we’re beautiful as was walking through the water with the mountains as a backdrop. However…Our guide was a very young teenager that basically had nothing to say unless prompted. His lack of interest and enthusiasm made this ride extremely boring. When I booked and spoke to the owner, he said we would be able to trot the horses, but that only happened for a whopping 60 seconds. Very disappointed..

We had a great trip. The guide brought 2 baby goats on the ride and we had 6 little kids that loved them. The views were awesome. Afterwards we went in a little cabin and guide sang a song he wrote. He is very talented.

Great horse ride!!! My dad and I did a 3hr private ride and had a BLAST. Our guide Rebecca was great she took us through different terrain and up and down hills and out on a out on a river side through water that reached belly deep on the horses in spots. Our guide was attentive and kept us safe. We were on Sheba ( a black/white TN walking horse) and Nikita ( a Belgian/hiflinger cross) both were great horses.

Is not a nose to tail ride can space out if needed and do move at a decent clip in trail despite the mud but do slow down if needed. ( we are experienced riders)

If tell them that you are experienced riders they will take you on a little rougher trail. Our guide rode bearback the whole ride and was calm and collected the entire ride even when her horse was showing her some energy/spunk.

They even let you bring treats for the horses for after the ride ( our 2 horses gobbled up the apples that we brought and was looking for more). The horses are well taken care off and are nice and healthy looking.

Was our first time riding in Alaska and out on a glacier river. We will definitely be back the next time we are in Alaska.
