We took Grand Knik Tour (2 hours) with Steven (pilot and guide). Using headset, he gave us good information and we could ask questions during the flight. When we landed, we were given plenty of time to explore and take pictures with some safety guidance and friendly conversations.
This is somewhat of weather depending activity and we were concerned about it, but we got really lucky and have a wonderful sunny day. It seems like though that this area is calm and predictable weather from what we heard from the people there and some other reading. It is about one hour plus easy driving from Anchorage.
It is certainly not a budget item, but it was all worth it!! I recommend that people take any of the tours including lading. Yes, looking at glaciers from above is very interesting in itself, but it is very hard to understand the size of them until you get to land.
There were two of us and another group of two (total of four passengers - seems like they can fit two more). Since we had four legs of flying with three stops, we rotated seating, but discovered all seats were very good. Between land staff members and the pilot, they made us feel safe and at ease.

We did the Grand Knik Tour out of Knik River Lodge in September and had an incredible flight experience. The entire ride is amazing and provides once in a lifetime views of natural scenery a camera just isn’t capable of depicting. It’s definitely a flight that’s worth every penny. The tundra foliage was a bright red on the mountain side that time of year and was a great contrast against the white snow. The blue of the glacier water and iceberg viewings in the lake made the landings awe inspiring.

We took a trip up to Knik Glacier and it was incredible!! Ben was our pilot and he was great about answering all our questions and leading us around different parts of the glacier to see different things. It was also fun that he helped call out animal sightings on the flight in and out.
We were a little worried about weather because it was pretty grey and a little rainy, but everything cleared up when we were on the glacier and it was perfect!
Definitely recommend this experience!

Riding on a helicopter to enjoy the beauty of glacier is one of the best experiences I ever have. It is much more astounding watching the glacier with an eagle wide angle. It is worth every dollar.
Our pilot is a very nice man. While he was flying the helicopter, he was also showing us the wild animals like moose bears… he also suggested how to take photos from a good angle.
I also asked for hotel pick up service. Kevin is a very nice and punctual driver. He picked me up at my hotel before the meet up time so that I could take some wonderful photos during the ride. He also introduced me nice places in Alaska. He took a very good care of me. Highly recommended.

What a fantastic experience from beginning to end. Kevin picked us up at our hotel in anchorage and helped get us excited for the helicopter ride through his excitement. He would tell us something about our surroundings and say, “it’s a beautiful day to fly! I’m so excited for you!” Brandon checked us in and was very kind and helpful throughout the process. Our pilot Bailey was very skilled in handling the helicopter. On our landing site he kept close watch on my sister and I (both of us “little old ladies”) while allowing us the freedom to explore on our own. It was worth every penny!

By far the coolest thing I’ve done in Alaska. Having a birds-eye view of mountains and glaciers (not to mention walking in them) is like nothing I’ve experienced. Our pilot, Bailey Hudson, did an outstanding job of making us comfortable (we felt so safe), providing interesting information about Alaska and the glaciers, and he was friendly and fun. 10 out of 10!

Everything about this tour was top notch! We were picked up at our hotel in Anchorage and dropped off after the tour which made it very convenient. Our driver was very friendly and informative. The tour itself was wonderful and a must do experience when visiting Alaska. We were very pleased with our pilot and felt very much at ease during the flight. I highly recommend Alaska Helicopter Tours for your adventure!

This experience was our absolute favorite!! 10/10 would recommend Alaska Helicopter Tours to everyone visiting Alaska! We did the Grand Knik tour and loved all the different sights. Our pilot and guide Michael Brooks made it so much fun and spotted so much wildlife for us to see. He made us feel so comfortable and really just made our experience that much more memorable. Experience of a lifetime!

Our pilot, Shad was brilliant. Flew over the glaciers, lakes, saw more, sheep and best of all, the colony glacier. Waterfalls, sheer expanse of ice and crevices were amazing and the clamping allowed access to all. Thank you guys. Even the bus trip

This tour was not only the highlight of our Alaska trip, but the highlight of our lives!! All three stops we made were breathtaking. Knik Glacier was something else. Steven, our pilot, was super knowledgeable and friendly and made the entire time even better than we imagined. You can trust him with your life! Even in strong winds! We got super lucky and had Christian, the company's photographer, with us during our tour and not only did he take great shots of us, he also shared his knowledge and experience throughout his years working in AK.
I think everyone needs to do this tour if they come to Anchorage. It's worth every single penny and it will make for the best memories.
We thought we would be really cold and brought so many layers, but we fortunately had a beautiful day and kept all of over layers in the helicopter! Steven was in a T-shirt even! Don't forget your cameras, sunglasses and sunscreen, though.
