About
Our Galley Gourmet combination 'wildlife viewing and gourmet dinner cruises' have been a highlight event for visitors and locals alike since 2003. The 3.5-hour cruise, aboard our classic, 42-foot yacht, is an experience that has become one of the most popular ways to experience Kodiak. Limit is 6 guests so you’ll need to make a reservation. Our meals feature local seafood and locally grown, organic vegetables. We can accommodate vegetarian and vegan diets. Dress code is “Kodiak Casual.” Bring a camera to capture the beautiful coastal scenery and animals: sea otters, sea lions, puffins, and sometimes whales. We are longtime residents: Marty is the former harbormaster and Marion is a professional photographer. Together we also run the Cliff House B&B.

Marion and Marty do a great job of providing a tour of the harbor, pointing out the sea life- sea lions, eagles, otter etc. and then having a delicious meal aboard their boat featuring a lot of local ingredients and thing from their garden. Delightful evening from 6 to 9 with a maximum of 6 people

No trip would be complete to Kodiak Island without a dinner cruise with Galley Gourmet. You will be welcomed on board and from that moment you will feel like you are dining with long time friends. Everything is very fresh and vegetables are grown in Marion's Garden. We had bacon wrapped scallops and Spinach-cheese pinwheels for appetizers. Wine would go great and it is BYOB. The dinner was Rockfish and wonderful sides. We had a wonderful trip through the harbor with Marty giving details of the ships and their owners in great detail.....He is the Kodiak Harbormaster so he is a great source of nautical information. We saw eagles galore and searched for the local otter, Pogo. We anchored in a beautiful harbor for our feast. It was a delightful experience that we will repeat the next time we go.

I can not give an honest review since out trip was canceled at the last minute. Evidently, they have a minimum amount of people who must go out for the dinner cruise or they cancel. This was not explained when the reservation was made. When I asked about a later date, it was then explained that in fact they had booked the boat for a multi-day trip and essentially bumped us for a more lucrative booking. This was a reservation we had made weeks ago and were very much looking forward to. My advise is check with them several days before you arrive so you have time to make alternative plans. Funny we had to pay a deposit and this was not immediately refunded when they determined to cancel. We had to call and make our request.

Marty and Marion hosted one of our most enjoyable evenings ever! Marty cruised his beautiful boat through the Kodiak waters pointing out the plethora of animals, birds and SPECTACULAR views. Then he docked in a small bay and served Marion's gourmet creations. The dips, salads and dinner were fresh from her master garden and the local scallop boat. The rhubarb raspberry pound cake dessert was over the top! If you plan to visit Kodiak, the Gourmet Galley is a MUST DO!

This is a bit pricey but well worth the expense. It is a cozy cruise around the area. You will see harbor seals, puffins, oyster catchers, eagles as well as sea otters. To start your evening, you will be introduced to the animals you will likely see. In addition, Marion will delight your senses with some mouth watering appetizers. Our night included a salmon and pineapple dip paired with chips and green apples along with halibut rolls. Dinner included a light pasta salad served over fresh greens, red salmon over rainbow orzo will dill sauce and a fresh nectarine salad. The night was complete with a final cruise into the harbor and a spectacular trifle dessert consisting of vanilla pudding, lemon poppyseed cake cubes, rhubarb sauce and candied ginger! If you have the opportunity, don't pass on this one. Book before it is too late as this dinner cruise seats 6 making it all the more cozy but tough to get in on short notice. Marty and Marion's hospitality is remarkable as they make everyone feel welcome.

We had a lovely Anniversary excursion. Captain Marty and Chef Joel spoiled us with hospitality and a warmth of friendship. Our company was delightful (3 others whom we met on our dinner cruise) and it was nice meeting them all. The wildlife is unpredictable, yet plentiful. We hadn't expected to see much but were pleasantly surprised when we saw our first Sea Lions and Puffins in the wild! The yacht is cozy and not pretentious. Our meal was fresh caught, organically grown and picked that day. Chef Joel prepared an amazing salmon berry mouse layer cake covered in chocolate ganache for our anniversary treat. Of course, we shared it with the other guests! We can't express how much of a treat everything was! My only regret is not meeting Marion that day. That is also my Mom's name! We have already recommended your treat to others, so expect some more Coasties to book your dinner cruise soon! Thank you all!

Even with the foggy rainy weather, this was a dinner cruise not to be missed. It was a convenient walk from our hotel to the dock where our hosts were docked. Beautiful little boat with knowledgeable hosts. Marty as the skipper took care to take us to wildlife viewing areas as well as scenic areas around the Kodiak harbor. He made sure we had a chance to take some great photos - never making us feel pushed for time. Loved the sea lions, sea otters, puffins, etc.
Marty anchored the boat in a beautiful serene cove at dinnertime. Freshly created appetizers were offered before the main course. Marion prepared a fine meal on board which included among several items, perfectly prepared very fresh halibut along with a salad of fresh greens from her own garden. Home made desserts made a perfect finale for a lovely meal.
This boat was comfortable and perfect for viewing the beautiful scenery around Kodiak Island. We pretty much had the run of the boat (under Marty's supervision). We'd definitely take this tour again if we return to Kodiak.
Marty and Marion are very nice people, not too stuffy, and are willing to answer any questions about the area. Marty is the Kodiak harbormaster, and Marion is an expert photographer, chef, and business owner (runs their B&B in Kodiak).

This is such a special treat. Upon arrival you are warmly greeted by Marty an Marion, your hosts, offering you tasty appetizers an drink. You can BYOB. Enjoy those appetizers while your knowledgeable Captain Marty, points out all the sites an keeps a steady eye out for all things great and small! As the Harbor Master what better hands to be in. We anchor in a protected cove. Whats that delicious smell? Fresh bread? Some locally caught wild salmon or Halibut? Marion is a master gardener,so most of the fresh produce has been lovely tended by her hands. What could come out of that oven next? Dessert! We will continue our family tradition of enjoying this every year. Make resv early

This was the most amazing thing we've done in Kodiak! If you can book the day-time cruise with Marion and Marty you'll love it. We saw tons of whales, otters, puffins, and so much more. Our group had been on many different whale watches over the years and this experience was truly the best ever - and transformative - given how close we got to a pod of about 15 humpback whales. We got endless photos and had a great lunch. The group was small - just 7 of us - and we learned so much about wildlife here. They have a great boat - very comfortable and greeted us in the morning with coffee. Marion is a professional photographer with lots of great tips plus knowledge of all of the species we saw. They are locals with big hearts and a classy, top-notch business. Don't think twice - just book your trip with me if you're from out of town or have out of town guests.

Your "tons of whales" comment made me chuckle, Martha. Thank you! For sure, it was TONS of whales moving and feeding around us. We loved sharing Kodiak's beauty and wonders with you and your group. Remember, just like our coffee mugs say, "Always keep a little Kodiak in your heart." I hope our paths cross again. Cheers and blessings to you!

What is the best way to get to Kodiak from Anchorage? We have a party of 4. Thank you!

Hi Van, Marion here. It's a good question. If you are flying straight through to Kodiak from say, Kansas. We recommend booking straight through, rather than flying to Anchorage and making a separate booking for Kodiak. That said, we have 5 to 7 or 8 flights to the island each day, depending on the season. You also have the option of talking the ferry from Homer via the Alaska Marine Highway System. Keep in mind it's a beautiful route, but it's 10-hour ferry ride. Does that help?
