About Galley Gourmet
Our Galley Gourmet combination 'wildlife viewing and gourmet dinner cruises' have been a highlight event for visitors and locals alike since 2003. The 3.5-hour cruise, aboard our classic, 42-foot yacht, is an experience that has become one of the most popular ways to experience Kodiak. Limit is 6 guests so you’ll need to make a reservation. Our meals feature local seafood and locally grown, organic vegetables. We can accommodate vegetarian and vegan diets. Dress code is “Kodiak Casual.” Bring a camera to capture the beautiful coastal scenery and animals: sea otters, sea lions, puffins, and sometimes whales. We are longtime residents: Marty is the former harbormaster and Marion is a professional photographer. Together we also run the Cliff House B&B.

This was the most amazing thing we've done in Kodiak! If you can book the day-time cruise with Marion and Marty you'll love it. We saw tons of whales, otters, puffins, and so much more. Our group had been on many different whale watches over the years and this experience was truly the best ever - and transformative - given how close we got to a pod of about 15 humpback whales. We got endless photos and had a great lunch. The group was small - just 7 of us - and we learned so much about wildlife here. They have a great boat - very comfortable and greeted us in the morning with coffee. Marion is a professional photographer with lots of great tips plus knowledge of all of the species we saw. They are locals with big hearts and a classy, top-notch business. Don't think twice - just book your trip with me if you're from out of town or have out of town guests.

Your "tons of whales" comment made me chuckle, Martha. Thank you! For sure, it was TONS of whales moving and feeding around us. We loved sharing Kodiak's beauty and wonders with you and your group. Remember, just like our coffee mugs say, "Always keep a little Kodiak in your heart." I hope our paths cross again. Cheers and blessings to you!

We took a boat cruise with Marty and Marion at the end of June 2018. We had an amazing evening. We saw sea lions, sea otters, eagles, deer, harbor seals, puffins and other birds. The tour of the island was beautiful. The dinner was delicious, fresh and healthy. Marion is quite the chef! They both are a wealth of knowledge about the wildlife and the island history. To top off the evening my now fiancé decide to spring a surprise engagement on them and they jumped into action! They made the moment so special for us! Taking pictures and honking the horn when I said yes! We can’t thank them enough for such an amazing evening!

Marty and Marion are extremely gracious hosts. We truly enjoyed our evening aboard the Sea Breeze. We have taken wildlife cruises out of Seward before, but this cruise was special due to the delicious dinner we were served, and the intimacy of the cruise. There are only 6 guests allowed on the boat at a time, which made this a very special experience. Marty is an expert captain, and treated us to beautiful views of Kodiak as well as wildlife such as sea otters, sea lions, different marine birds, and other historic sites. He answered all of our questions, and was a wealth of knowledge. Having lived on the island for almost his whole left you could tell he took pride in showing us his home. Marion is a sweetheart, and an excellent chef. While we cruised around the island, and snacked on a delicious smoked salmon & pineapple dip Marion was preparing our dinner. On board Marion had raspberry lemonade and water for drinks, and you could also BYOB. Marty pulled us into wedding cove, which was a calm area for our dinner time. We were treated to a delicious meal of a salad with fresh thyme and turmeric bread, and a breaded rockfish entree with sides of a butternut squash mash and quinoa. For dessert we were treated to a rhubarb crumble. Everything we were served was fresh whether is was seafood caught right in Kodiak, or vegetables grown by Marion herself. The meal was absolutely delicious, and the best one we had while on Kodiak. As someone who is greatly passionate about food and cooking I could tell that Marion loves what she does, and puts her heart & soul into it. This was one of the highlights of our time in Kodiak, and the only "excursion" that we booked while there. We will certainly be cruising with Marty & Marion again if we find ourselves in Kodiak.

This was a perfect capstone to our visit to Kodiak Island. Marty showed us puffins, otter, sea lions, and black-legged kittywakes on our relaxing 3-hour tour, and Joel served us a gourmet cod dinner with a picture-perfect dessert. This was our most elegant experience on Kodiak.
