The trip began with a drive to the trailhead of the Ward Creek Trail in the Tongass National Forest. This was our first experience hiking in a temperate rainforest, and it was everything promised and more. Water and trail snacks were provided. Beth, our friendly...More

If you've never been in a rainforest, and probably even if you have, this is a very nice one to visit. However, it seems the Tongass rainforest tour can vary substantially in quality, so you should try to find a tour with a trained and...More

We did this as a shore excursion. Oddly enough it was raining on us in the rainforest. It's an easy out-and-back walk on a paved trail. Our destination was a waterfall, which turns out to be more of a whitewater section of a brook. Our...More

Oddly enough, it was a rainy day in the rainforest. We didn't see any wildlife except for a big ol' snail. But we learned about the forest and saw some waterfalls and it was a nice excursion.

We got lucky as we had a brown bear and her cub walk out under the observation platform, notwithstanding the tour would have been good without that. Enjoyed seeing the raptor preserve and the totem pole carving

We prepaid and reserved this excursion prior to our arrived in Ketchikan via cruise ship. It is just a leisurely walk with a "guide" on a gravel trail through a National Forest that anyone could do on their own for free. The description says you...More

It was an easy, beautiful guided walk through the forest. Trailhead is not walking distance from cruise ship terminal, so we were bussed there (with only one other couple). Unfortunately no wildlife sightings, but learned interesting information about plants we saw.

Loved the hike. We booked through shoretrips.com and had a great time. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the trees and the wildlife there.

Out forest tour guide, Will, is a very patient and interesting young man who can make our walking funny and easy. At first we were a bit disappointed when we could not see raptors first. But in the end we ended up loving the forest...More
