One of the two photos shown is fin fact NOT Guard Island. I will send a few photos of Guard Island, a wonderful microcosm of South East Alaska.

Have you ever been to a lighthouse? Guard Island Lighthouse is a lonely beacon outside of Ketchikan AK. It is one of a few on the inland passage but hugely important to boat/ship travel. You can only get to it by boat. Fun place to hike around and if you're lucky you might be able to get inside for a peak

I have a few photos of this place. It never gets old for 3 years straight already and probably hundreds of photos later. still a winner.

Located on Guard Island in the middle of the northern inlet of the Tongass Narrows strait leading to Ketchikan, Guard Island Lighthouse built in 1903-04, is easily spotted from a cruise ship as one departs from Ketchikan on a northbound cruise or as one approaches on a southbound cruise. While the light is not large or unique, it is very picturesque set among a small patch of trees on a small, rocky island in the mouth of the narrows with snow-capped mountains serving as a backdrop. Look closely and you may be lucky enough to spot Bald Eagles and their nests in the trees.

Can only get to Guard Island by boat! Very rustic with eagles and seals around to view, which makes for a great tour.

We saw it while traveling on the Alaska State Ferry. It was pretty as we passed by, and I'm glad I didn't miss it, but am not sure it would be worth the difficulty of chartering a boat to visit it

The beauty was on full display as our cruise ship slowly glided past! This scene looked like a painting rather than real life! It was so beautiful!

This lighthouse provides the opportunity for a beautiful classic image of Alaska. The light house is perched atop the very steep and rugged Guard Island at the mouth of the Tongass Narrows. You will pass it on your way to Ketchikan. It floats amid a sea of spruce and is a very handsome, boxy little lighthouse. Behind it are majestic snow capped mountains. Just another spectacular photographic opportunity.

Saw this lighthouse on the point across the bay from the Activity Center. Thought it to be rather unique for the fact that I did not see any other lighthouses in the area. The locals said that it was the major guide for the enire harbor.

Hi, Rick. What would you like to know about this attraction?
Karen B. said her cruise ship went past the Guard Island Lighthouse. Was wondering which cruise line and if that is generally the case when cruise ships port in Ketchikan?
