This was the 8th year for myself and 3 friends fishing with Joe and he never fails to meet all our expectations. Very comfortable boat, good equipment and most of all an extremely hard working charter captain. He can't guarantee fish as that is out of his control but he knows the area and you won't find anyone more dedicated to doing everything within his power to make your trip enjoyable and successful. Earlier this summer I took my wife on a different 3-day trip with Joe and she had a wonderful time even though she isn't as experienced at salt water fishing. In her words, "just the boat ride, watching everyone else and meeting Joe made for a great trip" (and she did catch fish). Whether you are a beginner or seasoned veteran, Joe will give you just the right amount of instruction to be comfortable, successful and safe. If you are on a cruise ship looking for a few hours of fishing during your brief stop in Ketchikan, Joe would be an excellent choice for your adventure. Don't forget to ask about the daily quiz. Have fun.

Fished with GoFish Ketchikan Charters and Captain Joe Bowen in mid August 2021. Joe is one of the best captains and fishermen in Ketchikan. He knows where to find fish, has a very comfortable boat, top of the line fishing gear, and enough stories and jokes to fill up multiple days of conversations while fishing. Joe wants you to catch fish as bad as you want to catch fish and he will put forth every effort to make sure there are fish in the boat at the end of the day. If you plan to fish multiple days in Ketchikan Joe will take the burden of making lodging arrangements for you so you don’t have to worry about it, and the lodging is top notch, you won’t be staying in some run down shack. The lodging Joe has always put us up in, several different properties, is always conveniently located near the marina Joe operates out of and close to a small grocery store along with being outside of Ketchikan proper so very quiet. If you’re planning a fishing trip to Ketchikan you really should give Joe a call you won’t be disappointed! His schedule fills fast so don’t hesitate, he is really is that good and if you wait you will miss out on fishing with one of the best charter captains in Ketchikan! Don’t wait!

This was our seventh year fishing with Joe and we plan to keep returning. We have fun, we always catch fish and Joe is a delight to be with on the water. He has well-maintained equipment and you won't find another charter captain who works harder to please his clients. If you plan to be in Ketchikan and want to fish then I highly recommend you contact Joe.

We could not have asked for a better guide than Joe for our 1st time fishing in Ketchikan! He was funny, knowledgeable, attentive and actively seeking out the fish of our choice. We have never caught so many fish in such a short period of time and came home with more than we ever could have imagined! The ride on his boat was comfortable and he had all the gear we needed for all of the different fish we fished for. Impressed is an understatement and he made this experience truly unforgettable!

Great fishing experience with Joe. This was our third trip with him and we caught a lot of fish everyday of every trip. He knows what he is doing and can always locate fish for you to catch. He cares about you and your experience. We have caught Kings, Silvers, Pinks, Halibut, and Cod on our trips. Saw more whales and eagles than we can count. His humble personality brings the best out of people and you will have a great experience catching fish with him. Bottom line, he wants to create memories for you and your family.

Joe did it again! He destroyed our mind with great fishing! We got fish for days! He also entertained us with great stories (none of it true of course, haha). We limited out on a specie every day for four days. He hustles to make sure we catch fish but mostly he strives for us to have the best experience possible weather the fish is bitting or not. Joe is a great person no matter what people say about him! We will be back! From four Maui fishermen

Captain Joe was fantastic! He is extremely knowledgeable about the fishing grounds and has a wonderful personality. We caught over 30 huge silver salmon for our 2 day trip. His boat can easily accommodate 4-6 adults. He provided coffee and snacks for the morning trips. It was a trip that I will never forget and highly recommend Joe. Thanks!

My friends and I have been charter fishing in Alaska for over 20 years; Seward, Homer, Sitka and Ketchikan. Simply put, Joe is the BEST. We fish with him every year. Book your trip with him early or you'll be disappointed. He's busy.

Got a chance to go fishing with captain Joe for the second time this June. It was a wonderful experience! We caught halibut and salmon. Captain Joe work extremely hard to get us on to fish. He is very knowledgeable about all of Ketchikan fishing. He got his fishing spots all figured out. Ketchikan is a beautiful and amazing place! Come to Ketchikan and fish with captain Joe. You won't be disappointed!!

What a great trip! 2 days of fishing and Joe maximized every minute. We never doubted his goal was our goal..catch fish. He made it fun and productive. Can’t wait until the next time.

Hi- thanks for your inquiry. All my "really good" dates for multiple day/ all day fishing excursions in 2017 are already booked. The best dates are generally late June thru early/mid August and then early September to the end of the month.

For those that took Joe's charter out on the water, how was the water ?
Does Joe take you outside the protected area or stay within the inner passage area ?
I am concerned about the amount of swells & waves as I get nauseated - especially mixed with diesel fumes and choppy waters...
Any input / feedback on those that took Joe's boat out of Knudsen Cove ?

My wife is very prone to seasickness. the first thing she noticed on Joe's web site is that he had twin outboard motors that do not run on diesel fuel. After three fishing trips with Joe she has had no problem with seasickness even though we have had some wind and rough seas. Joe is very safe and picks the calmest water trying to ensure that you get to fish.
