We took this tour from our cruise ship. First, there was a 45 minute bus ride through downtown Ketchikan and to the point of departure. The bus driver told stories about Ketchikan and totem poles. Scenery wasn't that spectacular on the bus ride. Once we arrived at the departure point, there were 75 steps going down and then back up after we were done. It wasn't easy but it wasn't difficult if you're any kind of shape at all. We got on board the boat and set sail for various different points around the inlet. CJ tried to keep us informed but it was hard to hear him with the outboard motor noise. All in all, it wasn't all that interesting. Once we returned to the lodge, the best part of the trip took place. They promised us as Dungeness crab fest, and they weren't wrong. Those who wanted a beer or wine each got one free glass. We started out with half of a Dungeness crab each after one of the people showed us how to break it apart. Surprisingly, as we were finishing, they offered anyone that wanted some another half of a Dungeness crab. We took part in that as well. And then, for those that were interested, excluding us, and were still hungry, they offered even more crab. Finally, we had a piece of blueberry cheesecake. That was followed by another 45 minute drive on the bus back to the boat. It's too bad that we had to spend 90 minutes on the bus.

This was the most fun out of all our Alaskan excursions. The pilot and the guide were knowledgeable and fun. We saw Eagle, seals, and whale while having a blast

The highlight of the trip was pulling up a crab pot and then seeing, and holding a live Dungeness crab. The crab feast was good as it was served family style and they came around twice with crab.

This was booked as a cruise trip Excursion. The day was rainy and so foggy. Mike and Dan tried to make the best of it but we really couldn’t see anything. They let people take turns sitting up front in co-pilots seat. I gave 4/5 as the description said we were to stop on a beach so we could get out and explore but we never got to do that. Looks like it would have been awesome if it wasn’t foggy the whole time.

We recently returned from our second trip to Alaska and were absolutely blown away by the beauty and majesty of this great state. The lumberjack show was cute and entertaining but the crab feast was AMAZING!! This is the second time we visited the George Inlet Lodge for their scrumptious all-you-can-eat crab feast. Our hostess, Isabel, was a darling and very attentive, always making sure everyone had enough to eat and drink. Anyone visiting Ketchikan needs to get to the lodge for the best Dungeness crab in Alaska!
