Robert, our captain/guide treated us to a wonderful 4 hour salmon charter. We limited out in 2 hours so he switched things up and took us to deeper water to catch yellow eye. Then, he gave us a tour of town from the water, pointing out historical and natural sites. He is extremely knowledgeable, confident, humble, and patient. He met... More

we booked a trip for 2 guys; a 3rd unknown person showed up on the boat on our day. the guide kept us within a couple of miles of our cruise ship (never left sight of it!) and just trolled back /forth along with trawlers. guide did all the 'work' and never allowed us to touch a fishing pole! we... Our fishing trip was one of the best we have ever taken. Although the silver salmon were running late, we managed to catch our fair share along with cod, rockfish, halibut and a couple of yellow eye. Also landed several skates and a very unusual Wolf eel. Our stay at the Cape Fox Lodge was wonderful and the food was... More

We just came back from fishing July 23&24, and what a difference a day makes. The 23rd was. Good weather day and fishing was great. The 24 th it was raining, Wendy, and rough water. My guide was. Robert and on the tough day it was not anyway his fault. I have had many guides from many places and no... More

I have used these people now twice for Salmon fishing and have caught fish both times. They will meet cruise guests right at the pier as you get off your ship and have their boat within a short walking distance. They are very accommodating and friendly. Highly recommend them over booking with the cruise line, also will save you money.

This is our third year for fishing with True Alaskan Charters. It is our second year fishing with Robert as our guide. Next year will be our fourth and we'll bring the rest of the family. Robert makes for a good time and an enjoyable experience even when the fishing is tough. However, the State of Alaska department of fisheries... More

True Alaskan Charters is a local business with deep roots in Ketchikan operated by Bruce and Keisha Johnstone. Keisha patiently worked with my wife to make the arrangements for my son and I to spend 2 days fishing with Bruce (It was a surprise birthday present.) Everything was taken care of - tackle, boat charter, fishing licenses, lunch, snacks and... More

Bruce and crew make sure you are having fun and catching fish! From start to end, it was a first class operation. In spite of pretty bad weather (rough seas, downpouring rain, major wind gusts), Captain Bruce continued to find the fish and made sure we were safe. We were actually shocked when Cedar Lodge (the fish processor), delivered over... More

Three of us took a four hour salmon fishing trip on June 19. It was wonderful. Captain Bruce met us on the dock where we quickly embarked on our journey. The limit is 1 king salmon per person. When we went to one spot and didn't catch anything after a while, Bruce moved us to another spot. Here we got... More

I enjoyed a 1/2 day morning charter (shared with a couple from a cruise ship). We were targeting bottomfish and King Salmon. We fished just south of town and caught our limit of Halibut and several cod. We then trolled for Kings and landed one and lost one. We saw porpoises, a whale and lots of eagles including a few...
