Float plane trip

We took Island Air to the Misty Fjords and it was our favorite tour in Ketchikan. Michelle is a great pilot.

We went up the fjord on a small cruise ship and enjoyed spectacular views - waterfalls, time to kayak and calm waters for sleeping.

Misty Fjords via Allen Marine Tours was great. This was an above expectations experience. This attraction does not see to make the highlights in comparison of the other awesome Alaskan attractions. This was kind of like Yosemite in a boat. Several nice finds on the way to the granite cliffs like seals, volcanic vent, eagles. Several waterfalls. Crew was very... More

The locals call these the Mistys. And they live up to the name. The pilot/owners weren't sure we could fly but soon the cameras placed around the area by the FAA showed clearing and OFF we went. This was THRILLING!! Pilot toured the Mistrys- saw lots of wildlife- no bear though but didn't matter. We landed at a manmade raft... More

Cruising towards Ketchikan and we stayed here the whole day first in Walker Cove where we did some kayaking and a skiff ride as far into the cove as we could go - quiet beauty abounds, lovely scenery. From there we went to Rudeyard Bay, stayed on deck after lunch watching the scenery. We saw many float planes take off... More

This is beautiful scenery at it's best. We were in a small Beaver plane and the views were gorgeous. Our landing in the fjord exciting.

we didn't book anything in advance. it has been our experience that the locals that line the dock side are much better at touring and much less expensive to the same price. in this case much less expensive. our tour started out on time with perfect weather. we landed in the fjord and within minutes were getting socked in by... I did this trip by boat going out and by floatplane coming back, the difference in cost between the floatplane only and the boat/plane combination being $140. The boat trip was too long and it got to the point of being monotonous with the same scenery; the floatplane trip back was excellent with great views from the skies. If I... More

A must see place, but definitely do it by sea plane. We booked with Island Wings and couldn't imagine seeing it any other way. Gorgeous!

We booked this tour from our Disney Cruise - pricey!! Overall we were disappointed that we did and here's why - our tour started with the boat ride which was 2 1/2 hours long to go 60 miles to the Fjord. The Fjords are beautiful!!! BUT, getting there is long and somewhat monotonous - the scenery is the same all... More
