What an amazing adventure! Our favorite excursion in all of Alaska! We booked it because our other excursion was cancelled due to having too much rain.
The airboat experience is fast, exhilarating and soooooo much fun. Super safe but still a great thrill ride. We all loved it.
We went with my husband and three kids and daughter’s boyfriend. All six of us have slightly different interests and thrill levels and we all said it was our favorite by far!
We took a helicopter there which was also very cool.
The airboat weren’t so close to the glaciers. To get a view at that perspective I just incredible.
We highly highly recommend!!! Book it now. You will not be disappointed!

This is an amazing tour. Brian, the owner was great as the guide and airboat driver. We rode all around the Taku glacier and viewed many different angles and close up views that is never seen by most. A safety first adventure that was several hours long after you get there by a helicopter. So amazing.
The equipment was in tip top shape and was provided jackets to protect us from the water or any debris from the glacier. Thanks Brian!

The airboat tour was the best port excursion of our Alaska cruise. Captain/Owner Brian was an amazing tour guide and host. The very exciting but very safe tour lasts for nearly an hour. Dress in layers!
Helicopter ride to get there was fun but unfortunately the helicopter had to cancel our planned walk on the glacier due to a mechanical issue.

No words can describe the Awesomeness we experienced! At first I thought the helicopter 🚁 ride was incredible but no…wait … there’s more! The airboat ride with Brian was more than I could ever imagine!
Somehow we were blessed to be the only ones! I sat on top and enjoyed it all. Up close and personal to all the beauty. Glacier, waterfalls, seals - Incredible!
Last stop. Helicopter back, stopped to land on the Glacier and walk on the moon!
Thank you Brian for sharing your big piece of paradise and your love and knowledge for Alaska and the Taku Glacier.
Definitely worth it! And something we will never forget! ❤️

We had an outstanding adventure with our sixteen year old son. He loved every minute as did we. We flew over the Juneau ice field - breathtaking! We saw mountain goats and bald eagles. We landed at our base on the Taku River. Brian, our river guide, met us and warmly welcomed us. He took us on a super fun airboat ride on the Taku River. Our son rode beside him with a grin on his face the whole time. Brian is an excellent airboat captain and super personable! We came right up to the side of the glacier. We saw seals and chunks of calves ice. So beautiful! We got lots of awesome pictures. Couldn’t have gone better!

Airboat Alaska/ Northstar Helicopter Tours was an amazing experience. We are avid travelers and this was our family's all time favorite tour. Brian was wonderful. We enjoyed meeting his family, seeing his beautiful property, and we had a great airboat tour around the Taku Glacier. You could literally reach out and touch the glacier. It was so much fun to spend an hour on the airboat. We then went with our Helicopter pilot, Harry, and landed on the Norris glacier by a beautiful glacier pond. The colors were amazing! Imagine walking on a glacier and drinking some of the cleanest and best water that we have ever tasted. Don't hesitate to spend the money, the experience was well worth it.

HIGHLIGHT OF OUR TRIP! Absolutely awesome! Our fun started as soon as our driver, Julie, picked us up in a brand new van near the Ship and provided a brief city tour with local commentary as we made our way to the airport/heliport. Then helpful staff at Coastal Helicopters weighed us at check-in (don't worry, no one else sees your weight) and assisted us with boots (that go over your own shoes) and waterproof pants (not really needed, but they keep you warm and dry) that slip on over your clothes. They showed us a brief safety video, then there was a few minutes for photos. Soon we were journeying by Helicopter (our pilot was Jamie and his commentary was great!) over Glacier Ice Fields to a private landing platform on Taku River (just south of the Taku Lodge) where Brian and his dad Randy greeted us and told us a little about the history of the area. Brian grew up in and around the River, and his tales are educational and informative - he is truly passionate about the area history. After dawning outer "float" jackets (provided) we boarded an Airboat (piloted by Brian) and "glided" across the Taku River surface up close to (I'm talking right next to) the Taku Glacier face ... a unique perspective at water level looking up at the massive walls of ice. With the airboat's shallow draft, Brian was able to maneuver in the rivers currents to show us both faces of the Glacier; it is interesting to see how different the two faces are moving and how they look so different from each other. We then glided back across the River (If you've enjoyed Airboat rides in FL everglades or LA bayous , you're going LOVE AIRBOAT ALASKA! -- so different and better!) to the Landing Platform where our Helicopter was waiting to take us to the top of the Ice Fields we had seen flying over earlier. Our pilot Jamie picked a great landing spot on the Glacier that allowed us to get out and walk about and see the "blue pools" (we even took a sip from one!) and intricate surface swells of the Glacier. After a few "selfies" we got back into the Helicopter and flew back to Juneau. The whole trip took about 3.5 hours, but it seemed like only 15 minutes ... soooo much fun packed in - time really flew by. Last year - 2014 - we did the Dog Sled Tour (through Coastal Helicopters -- also reviewed on TripAdvisor). Although I would recommend either excursion, the Taku Adventure by Air, Water & Ice offered through Coastal Helicopters in conjunction with Airboat Alaska is definitely a Bucket List tour to do! This was worth the expense and was the HIGHLIGHT of our trip. Please say "hi" to everyone mentioned here if you decide to go! #TriplettAlaska2015

We got picked up my minivan and driven to the airport for our helicopter ride. Our driver guide was Jenna. We saw a quite a few Bald Eagles along the way which was a nice bonus. Our helicopter pilot was Ryan who flew us 15-20 mins to the airboat area where we met Brian, our airboat captain. We cruised through the water at a pretty good pace and all along a portion of the Taku Glacier. Some great photo opportunities from the airboat and then it was back onto the helicopter and Ryan landed us onto Taku Glacier itself for about 10 mins for some pictures. This was pretty cool and I personally would have preferred more time here. But still, great experience overall.
We did this excursion on the 7th of June. It was a beautifully clear day and such a fantastic way to spend the morning. We had booked this through our cruise, the Holland America MS Noordam, and I highly recommend it to anyone wondering if they should do this.

Dear Traveler,
We're so glad you loved the Taku Glacier Adventure by Air, Water and Ice! The combination of the flight, airboat ride and the glacier landing allow our guests to get out of the crowds, and get a feel for the size of the glacier, and of the Juneau icefield as a whole. Thanks for your review, and for choosing our tour in Juneau!

It seems our cruise ship either does not offer your excursion or has already sold out. I've been on your website and there are only afternoon sessions available for September 10th 2020. Is this correct? I would have preferred a morning session if possible :)
Written October 24, 2019
Hello Traveler,
We don't have any morning sessions available except through the cruise lines. All of the ships in port that day do have allotments for this excursion, but they could be sold out. If you'd like to email me directly, we can work out the best time for you to book! Thank you so much,
Julie

Hello
Can you please advise approximate time spent in the helicopter, airboat and glacier walk.
I think I read no bags allowed. Are camera bags weighing around 2kg permitted?
Thanking you in advance
Kind regards
Michael
Written February 8, 2017
Hi Michael! Thanks for your question! The helicopter flight is approximately 15 minutes each way, so a total of about 30-40 minutes. You'll be on the airboat for about 45 minutes, and the walkabout on the glacier is about 10 minutes. The total tour time is 3.5 hours, and that includes transportation to and from the airport, gearing up and safety orientation.
For safety reasons, no bags are allowed, no matter their weight. We have locking bins at the airport that you can leave the bag in, and bring the camera. Cameras, phones, and go pros are allowed on this tour.
Let us know if you have any other questions!

We just returned from our Alaska cruise on the celebrity solstice, and went on an excursion with Airboat Alaska. This excursion was by far the best we have done in any port, and would highly recommend it to family and friends. Brian was very friendly and Julie was the best to work with. the scenery was incredible. We have been to Alaska several times before but this was definitely the best excursion we have ever experienced.
