The tour operator was wonderful. They reached out to us the day before our tour was scheduled because the weather forecast looked grim, they were able to rebook us for that afternoon. The tour itself was amazing, we saw tons of whales and our captain, John, was super knowledgeable about all the wildlife we saw. My family all raved about the trip for days.

An intimate outfitting group to come out with and enjoy the beautiful and stunning waters of Juneau. We’re a family of five (13, 11 and 8 year olds) and the 4 hour whale watching tour was a perfect amount of time for my boisterous group of boys. Captain john did an amazing job of teaching us about local wildlife and kept the kids engaged while also spotting whales. It was amazing seeing these beautiful humpback whales and listening to them surface and watching their graceful dives. Given our current times and need to socially distance, this is a perfect group to still enjoy the great outdoors and stay safe! Would definitely recommend booking w/ them; you won’t be disappointed!

So I’m an avid traveler, most often cruising and doing excursions. I had the privilege of doing the whale watch with this company YEARS ago. Sometimes, life gets busy and I don’t get to write a review. Which is whatever usually, however, not having left this review for them bothers me multiple times per month for all of these years. I am now back in Alaska and want all of the world to know that “pickle face” has never been forgotten. We had an absolutely amazing experience, one that has yet to be matched. Following multiple whales and babies. Watching them break the water to feed. Even peeking out to see and watch a dog that had been brought onto the boat. The boat that was expertly handled to make the most of our experience. And seriously knowledgeable husband/wife team (I believe) along with radio from other boats to let us know the best spots to be. On multiple occasions we caught whales feeding, breaching the water, playing with their young.... seal lions as well all added up to make an unforgettable experience. I am only sorry it took me so long to write this. Thank you the team of “pickle face” I am sure you know who you are

Overall this was a great experience, very knowledgeable and friendly staff. Looking through the negative reviews; it seems like some people get seasick and decide to hold it against the crew??? Long story short, you have to be looking for a bad experience to not have anything but an outstanding time.

We were picked-up cruise port in Juneau. Transported in a new van to the port to meet the small tour boat. On the way there was a stop for a photo opportunity in front of the Mendenhall Glacier. The pick-up was somewhat marred by waiting around in the cruise port for 2-passengers that did not show. They apparently had cancelled. The driver then took us to the center of Juneau to pick-up some more passengers. We waited there for a while, but it turned out that we were waiting for the same 2-passengers that had cancelled. Certainly they could improve their internal communications. Met at the port by James who was the naturalist guide. Quickly escorted on to the small boat by James and met the lead guide and boat driver who was John. Both James and John were knowledgeable on whales and were able to answer any questions. John was also a whale watch guide boat driver in Hawaii. He seemed to have been conducting what watching trips for quite a while. It was a small boat with powerful twin 250hp outboard motors. This means that we could sail quickly to the various different locations where the whales would be hanging out. Then the motors would be stopped to allow us to drift close to the whales. The tour allowed us to observe at fairly close quarters (approx. 300 feet) up to 8 whales including a baby calf whale. Interesting facts about the unique marking on the underside of the tails (flukes) of the whales that allowed James and John to identify the name of each whale that we saw. The pick-up to take us back to the port was again marred by the driver believing that there were 2-passengers missing. Again the same 2-passengers that had cancelled. They got us back to the port in plenty of time to catch out late 10.00pm sailing on the Celebrity Solstice at Juneau. Overall recommended. We had smooth water conditions, but it the wind would be blowing, it could get quite rough I imagine. Only gave 4/5 rating as there was the confusion multiple times over the 2 missing passengers that wasted time.
