I rented a car and drove to (literally) the end of the road north of Juneau. Returning, I took a hike down the Cowee Creek Trail. Gorgeous nature beside gurgling water. It was spontaneous and I'm so very glad I decided to take a chance...More

Am a local Juneauite and have taken my family on this trail often. Great hike and easy terrain (flat). This trail cuts across muskeg, takes you thru old growth forest, across sedge meadows with wildflowers and eventually to beaches with awesome views of Lynn Canal...More

Two mile easy backpack trip in to a state cabin. Very well maintained and flat hike to the cabin, though a few sloggy wet boggy bits and sitka roots to climb over. The cabin is located in a beautiful meadow. Another 1/4 mile walk to...More

Cruise ship viewing, walk along the sand, pet friendly, excellent large spot parking, and very easy to find.

This park has a great hike which runs mostly flat-ish through forests and flooded meadows to the beach. It's an easy and very pretty hike, very quiet, with few other people around - a nice way to spend an afternoon. When we visited it was...More

We did not reserve a public use cabin but hiked a couple miles through forest and meadows out to beach. Saw signs of bear activity but no bears.

The trail is mostly flat but lots of little ups and downs and walk-around/over roots and logs. When you get to the waters edge you see why it was worth the walk. Snow capped mountains across the bay make for a beautiful photograph. We saw...More

The most beautiful views, there is not one place in Alaska where you will not get mind blowing views but the scenery at this place is just wow.

Well maintained trail with several cabins along the route available for rent. Goes through muskeg, forest, beautiful meadows and eventually follows the coast to the Point. Saw evidence of black bears and saw many eagles and flocks of sea birds. Beautiful trail.

Several trails and loops that go through swamp (on boardwalks), forests and beaches. Warming cabins can be rented overnight. Watch out for bears and make lots of noise. Fantastic wildflowers and birds in the spring - chocolate lily is my favorite.

Depends on time of year...also depends on the year. This summer has been extremely cool and wet so the berry crop may not be the best meaning the bears may not be grazing on berries like they typically would along that... More
