Had an amazing time with ChumFun! Family owned/run and perfect for those who have a few hours to do some fishing without having to jump on a boat/float plane and burn a day/ton's of cash! Located maybe 5 minutes from downtown Juneau and they come and pick you up right at the docs or even possibly hotel as they did for us! Your fishing within 10 minutes and they supply everything from rod/reel/tackle and even rain gear. They worked with our children to get them up to speed and had them casting like pro's in no time. We hit a couple spots and caught Salmon/bottom fish at both places. A hatchery tour comes with the experience and is very impressive/informative---super cool! Afterwards they cleaned/prepped the fish (eagles took care of the scraps as they're all over the property!) and sent it to a packing house to be shipped home to us when we get back. Can't recommend them enough, Paul and Michelle are the best!

Amazing company! Although we didn’t catch the salmon we came for we all had a great time. The experience from what to book to booking to the fishing activity we all had the “Best” experience. Love how michelle was super nice on the phone, how responsive she was. Her husband Paul and family member Noah taking us out fishing. We had a family of 9 people from
12yrs age to 50 and all had the best time. Would totally recommend them.

We went fishing as a family to support my 10 year olds fishing obsession. We had a blast! Paul our fishing guide was so supportive with teaching my son about every aspect of salmon fishing. It was a great time filled with fun, safety, and education. My son kept reeling in the fish and discovered the wonders of Alaskan Salmon Fishing. We can't thank Chum Fun enough. Thank you for a great family vacation.

Six of us had signed up for a fishing charter with Chum Fun Charters 8,17,22 out of Juneau during our recent Alaska cruise in August. Our ship was coming in late so the owners did modify our starting time. I made it very clear to Paul, the owner, upon booking that we did not want to visit the Hatchery which was part of the tour because we have done it before. I was told that this would not be an issue and we did not have to make this stop. As soon as we loaded into the van, JP the tour guide, had told us that another individual was added to our tour and highly stressed no more than three times the importance of the Hatchery Tour. The new person added to the tour was not interested in visiting the Hatchery either. All guests felt pressured with his insistence.

Unfortunately, two of our party had to cancel last minute for health reasons. The tour operators did not express any concern what-so-ever despite the fact that their fee had already been paid.

The tour guide never asked names of 3 individuals in our party. I had suggested 2 spots to fish at that I had been successful at before, however, was dismissed by the guide. We started fishing on-site at a small dock where the water was muddy and the dock space was congested for the 5 of us.

Later we moved to another location within a 2 minute drive away. We had to walk down over steep rocks which led us to a small point where there were at least 100 dead salmon that gave off a putrid odor. Dying fish were swimming all around. This area was also very muddy and had lots of seaweed. Not a great fishing or scenic area by no means. The guide was reluctant to relocate to a better location. He offered limited assistance to the 2 novice fisherman that were with us. What he was for dinner seemed to be more important than concerns of his guests.

Needless to say, I will never use this company for a fishing tour again. These complaints are only some of the major issues. Again, I have fished this area with an other tour company and this was by far the worst experience I have ever had. I would not recommend this company to others or any cruise line.

When we sailed on the Disney cruise to Alaska, it was a challenge to find excursions for our family that wouldn't break the bank. I am so glad we found Chum Fun! My husband and sons (ages 11 and 13) LOVE to fish, but I think this excursion would be amazing for families to introduce their kids to fishing! Paul makes it soooo easy. Even though it was very early in the season (first week of June), we caught five different species, none of which my husband or boys had caught before (we’re from Louisiana).

During our Alaskan cruise, we fished at three different ports. We fished a river in the Yukon (Skagway port), took a charter boat out in Ketchikan, and this was by far our most enjoyable excursion. Further, it was 1/3 the cost of chartering a boat (and three times more fun!)!!

Chum Fun offers a great day of family fun and a lot of bang for your buck. Paul and Michelle are lovely. We enjoyed meeting Michelle at the office and we had a blast spending the day with Paul. When the Chum Fun van dropped us off at our cruise ship, we all walked away saying to each other, “That was AWESOME.”

Paul took us to some beautiful areas around Juneau that we never would have seen on our own or from a chartered boat. The walks from the van to the fishing spots were often breathtaking.

If you want to have a great day of fishing with your family and you don’t want to drop $1,000+, call Paul. You will be so glad you did! He will pick you up and drop you off right at the boat; it's so easy.

Chum fun charters is run by a husband and wife team in Juneau. The specialise in off the dock fishing. My young son and I had never caught a fish before ever and Paul did a great job teaching us the basics of angling. My 10 year old son loved it and is hooked.

Not only was Chum Fun totally reasonable for us to go fishing for salmon, but the experience with Paul and Michelle was Fantastic! These two went above and beyond their business duties to give my brother, boyfriend and I an awesome fishing experience. This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone with a day stop in Juneau on your cruise ship or if you find yourself in Juneau without the loads of cash required for Chartering a boat. These guys have found a brilliant solution to making fishing reasonable and totally fun. And, they'll even pick you up AND pack up the fish you catch. Happy Fishing with Chum Fun!!

When we arrived in Juneau we decided to call Chum Fun Charters and it was the best idea. They took us out and showed us how and where to get the big King Salmon. They helped us get our fish to a processor that would ship it home. We had so much fun with them and our stay in Juneau would not have been the same without Chum Fun Charters!

We got picked up right on time by Tom, his daughter Courtney, and Evan. They took us to the salmon hatchery and gave us a very informative tour of the facilities and showed us all the help the place does for the salmon population. The tour really gave us a nice perspective before we went over to the small dock to fish. At the dock, we met up with Paul and the whole crew got us outfitted with rods and reels. They were very patient in teaching us newbies on how to fish this particular waterway. After about ten minutes our group started landing large chum salmons. It was a total thrill to see my 11 year old son battling the resilient chums and he had THE BEST time holding them and then releasing them back in to the water. It was my wife's first time fishing and she was landing the biggest ones in the group. We were fortunate to run into Paul later on in the day and it was an honor to talk with him about life and family. The whole crew were just good, honest people and that's who you want fishing by your side. At the end of our Alaska trip my son was asked by several people what was his favorite memory. We had driven speed boats in Ketchikan, flown on helicopters & rode sleds in Juneau, and went rafting in Segway but he always answered that salmon fishing with the Chum Fun crew was his favorite.

The people who ran this charter were very nice. I thought shore fishing would be a little more easy for someone physically challenged. Fishing spots were hard to get to - long walks in wet, sinking sand or down a steep rocky incline. Ended up sitting in the van at one location, because I could not manage to walk down the rocky incline. This is not for someone with physical limitations. I should have done better research.
