This falls is gorgeous, the size and the location is perfect for viewing and taking great pictures. I can go close enough to take a good look only I have to walk a certain length of trail to get near to it. Overall, it is clean and easy access.

My husband and I always hike to Nugget Falls. Not only do we find the falls beautiful, but we love to watch families and pets play on the shore and in the water. Dogs seem to be particularly found of this area. It is a must see for anyone visiting Mendenhall Glacier.

Nugget Falls is a large, wide, waterfall which empties into Mendenhall Lake right next to the foot of the glacier. There is a short trail from the visitor center to the foot of the falls; it took us about half an hour each way at a leisurely pace. Once you are near the falls, their volume increases - they're loud!... More

We kayaked past the falls and it was truly beautiful...it was prior to reaching the Mendenhall glacier. We kayaked on a VERY cold and rainy day. We were wrapped up in fisherman's rubber outfits. It was SO COLD that this detracted a little from the experience BUT we were told that on a warmer day that the wind blows more... More

As the waterfall is beside the glacier you get a real sense of the scale of both. Very peaceful beside the lake. Take time to soak up the atmosphere

The falls are mind blowing when you see how much water there is and think about the fact that it is from the melt. While beautiful, it made me sad thinking about it being gone some day if we (people) continue the way we are and we lose the glaciers and ice caps.

This is the longer walk of the two at the glacier, taking around 2 hours one way. Allow enough time to fully appreciate the scenery, which is stunning. The waterfall is huge and you can get really close to it. The glacier is also nearer to you on this walk and is awesome. If you get great weather then this... More

Literally. They're side-by-side. Walking down to this fall also gets you a much closer view of the glacier, both of which are spectacular and well worth the short walk.

Easy to get to and worth every last step. We got close enough that we were being sprayed with the mist, and there were lots of people much closer. Plenty to see and do here, and if the eagles are around can be lots of fun.

Thank Tom W
