About
Eaglecrest is Juneau, Alaska’s community-owned and operated ski area with big mountain terrain, 1620′ vertical drop, 640+ acres, impressive backcountry access, untracked powder, and hardly a lift line. Our most expensive lift ticket is only $62 for adults, and prices are even cheaper for seniors and students. If you’re still learning, our professionally staffed and award-winning Snowsports School will get you and your family out and around the mountain. Never heard of Eaglecrest? We’re Alaska's best-kept secret, but closer than you think; downtown Juneau is only 15 minutes away, and we have daily flights from Seattle and Anchorage. Flash your morning flight’s boarding pass for a free lift ticket, and you’ll be riding the lifts in no time.

Great family vibe. We did a heli week in Haines and enjoyed a day of side country at Eaglecrest.
Call and make sure they are renting skis if you are planning on renting.
Don't miss this classic!

I understand it's a scenic spot to drive and hike for free in the summer. During ski season it is a busy place, with affordable passes, rentals and lessons. The employees are well-trained, efficient, and friendly. Thanks to the generous support of Juneau's citizens, whose taxes pay the cost of owning and operating Eaglecrest, the price of a day pass and gear may be less than you expect -- about what you would pay for 18 holes of golf on a PGA sanctioned course, or a week's worth of groceries. The runs range from easy to very challenging, and the wait at the lifts is usually not bad. If you like to ski or board you will love this place. It's easy to get to from the town and is lots of fun. But, while the out of doors experience lives up to the description "world class" outside, the indoors experience is the polar opposite. I"ve heard the lodge described as "no frills," but that is too kind. A bus station is "no frills," and there are bus stations with better food and more comfortable seating than Eaglecrest Lodge. Upstairs there is a seating area reserved for preferred customers, protected by a chain from entry by others. I have not confirmed this, but it is said that from its windows one can see some of the action outside. The rest of the building was designed with almost no windows, and none with views of slopes. The only bright spot in the lodge experience is the excellent espresso stand, but if you are able to pass out or otherwise achieve sleep on a hard soggy floor in noisy, overcrowded conditions, skip the coffee. Although unlikely to occur, sleeping through it completely would be the best way to endure a period of time in Eaglecrest Lodge that lasts more than one hour.

Have skied here for the past 25 years-- great mountain, fun people, challenging runs and lots of off piste.

Average because it is really best for skiing, not for warm weather visits.
This is Juneau's ski area. It is really not a destination in non ski times unless you want to do a zip line. Since you need a car to get there, or have to pay for transportation if you are on a cruise, skip it in the warm months. There are other things to do in Juneau. Look into Tracy Arms trip, or check out teh down town museums.

We drove over to Douglas Island, headed north, and turned to climb up to the ski lift on a very good road through the forest. Snow was still heavy in the forest in May and its melting created numerous waterfalls and bustling streams. Delightfully, we were the only ones on the road. We stopped often to take photographs. It is a very beautiful drive and is only about 30 minutes from Juneau to the top.

Closed two days each week during the short ski season. The runs are short, the snow is mostly ice snow (hard surface). I've skied a lot of different places around the world and this is small, over priced and great for little kids. It's ok for the home town folk, they don't know any difference. Half the time, some of the chair lifts are closed (they have 4) most of the time the only lift open is the kids lift with its bunny hill.

Thank you for taking the time to review Eaglecrest. This past season we experienced some challenging conditions due to unusually low snowfall. While we were able to open the mountain a week early - the end November, lack of snow in February did force us to make the decision to close the mountain for the season in mid-March. This low snow fall also negatively affected our operations at times, forcing us to operate with limited terrain. It is unfortunate your visit came during one of these times. Typically our season runs from the first weekend of December through the second weekend of April. For most of the season we are open Thursday - Monday and closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. During the Christmas Holidays in December and the Spring Break holidays in March we are open seven days a week. Although we are not a large ski area, in a normal year we do feel we offer a wide variety of terrain that will challenge and inspire all ability levels including the most experienced skiers and riders. We invite you to consider giving Eaglecrest another try this next season so you can experience all the mountain has to offer.

The only ski hill in town. The menu at Eaglecrest is limited and the food is standard fried fast food but it is good, cheap, fresh and there is plenty of it.

We took a drive on Douglas to sight see. Great views and trails.
You could get a "cool" feeling up in the snow.

Cool ski area with lots of options for terrain especially the terrain accessed just outside the boundary lines! Fun Alaska tree skiing, open bowls, steep chutes, cliffs, and playful wind lips. The ski area Eaglecrest and sidecountry has all the fun stuff if you're willing to put in the effort!
