Was able to schedule a halibut trip at the last minute. Staff was very accommodating reserving the trip. Showed up, Captain Grant was wonderful. Very positive and upbeat, shared a lot of stories about the area and we even did some whale watching on the way to the fishing spot. While it was not the best day as far as catching fish, no fault of Captain Grant. But with the other guests and Captain Grant, along with the spectacular scenery, the day was fabulous. The boat had an enclosed (warm) cabin and plenty of room for six anglers. Would highly recommend.

We booked a 6 hour halibut/salmon fish is hung trip for our family of five with adult children! Captain Rick and Kat showed us a great time! The day was beautiful. We caught halibut, salmon, cod and several types of rockfish. We also saw five whales! All of our crew would highly recommend Moore Charters! What a day!

Took a halibut fishing trip with Captain Jack and Deckhand Dalton. It was the BEST!!! Both of them were so nice and made us feel comfortable from the minute we were met at the dock. We took about an hour ride to the fishing location and they were pointing out sights all along the way. When we got to the fishing spot Dalton had our poles out and rigged ready for us.
The minute my line hit the bottom and I reeled in a bit I had a bite! My husband had one very shortly after that. I pulled in the first catch of the day weighing about 20 lbs and my husbands was about 10-15. You are only allowed to keep 1 per trip so after that we did catch and release. Caught several more after that.
While fishing Captain Jack pointed out the sea lions that were playing nearby. We were also thrilled to see a whale swim by and surface that got a beautiful view of his tail.
All in all one of the best trips we have had! Thank you Jack and Dalton!!!

Pros: the crew are nice, friendly, and know what they are doing. They tried to make our time on the boat as enjoyable as possible and we appreciated that.
Overall, we left disappointed and feeling like we wasted a lot of money.
Added costs were frustrating....
The don’t pickup so the cab is $30 from downtown
+ $40/ person for a fishing license
I regret paying for the license because i genuinely didn’t fish. I sat on a boat and watched the employees try to fish for us.
They do everything for you without any demonstration and then if a fish bites the nearest person can reel it in. That’s the person who “caught the fish” and keeps it.
1/6 guests on our boat “caught” a fish. Nobody in my party did. Of course, most of this is due to luck. My disappointment is more about how we didnt get the experience of fishing rather than the outcome. If i left feeling like i learned something about how to fish that would have been enough.

This trip was amazing and I would suggest it to anyone! My family had the best day starting from our hotel pick-up. The driver was prompt, knowledgeable, and a great conversationalist who knew the owners and talked a lot about what our experience would look like. Once on the boat our Captain and deckhand Gloria were top of the line. Throughout the trip out to fish we heard all about the area and they were open to little side jaunts to help us see some of the local wildlife. Thanks to Gloria's hard work once we pulled up to our spot we were ready to rock. Tons of fish and memories made. We were able to try to fish for Salmon and Halibut because we were so successful in our first location. My boys learned how to clean the fish and everything was made easy for us to get it processed and shipped home to us. Last minute excursion we booked upon arrival but absolutely one of the best choices we made!!!!

We took a family trip, 3 generations, to Juneau the first week of July. took a total of 4 trips with Moore Charters during the week. They are a top notch operation, their boats are exceptionally clean and well maintained and the fishing tackle is high quality. One of the trips was a whale watching trip with Sid. My twin 7 year old grandchildren, their parents, my other daughter, and my wife had a great experience. We chartered a boat for a fishing trio with my grandson one day and the other two days I fished on open load trips. My trips with Darren and deckhand Dalton, and Casey and deckhand Gloria were great. They worked had to try to get us fish and were attentive to all the passengers needs. I fish a lot and have fished with a number 6 pack operations and I can say their operation is as well run as any I've ever used.

Captain Grant was prompt, professional, and fun. We saw multiple whales throughout the day. At the end of the outing, we were the only boat for miles when a huge mama humpback and her baby (BOLT) surfaced very close and gave us a magnificent show. Bolt was very playful as he slapped the water over and over again. We truly enjoyed the excursion and we highly recommend Captain Grant and Moore Charters.

Captain Sid was wonderful. I have mobility issues and he patiently got me on/off the boat. This meant a great deal to me personally so I could experience this Alaskan adventure fully.
Sid was very knowledgeble about the location of whales and once a water spout was seen, stayed in place which allowed us to see several whales in multiple sites! He took a great group and individual couple photos including one of Julie with a whale clearly seen behind her - attached. He was punctual both with pick up and return. He handled the boat well alerting us to bigger waves with our safety and comfort in mind.
Sid is also a kind gentleman, escorting us up to the parking lot and making sure I was safe and tucked into the van for the return trip.
All 6 of us loved the tour and experience - it will be fondly remembered forever.
Ride with Captain Sid - he really is committed to your Alaskan adventure!

Highly recommend!! We booked a 4 hour halibut trip to celebrate a milestone birthday. Captain Darren and deckhand Gloria gave us the best trip! They were fun, helpful, knowledgable. The dad jokes started the minute we met them, and didn't end until we departed. After very successful fishing, we were entertained by Juneau's famous humpback Flame and her calf. Captain Darren was careful to follow safe whale regulations. We left with a cooler full of halibut and rockfish, and memories for a lifetime! Thanks, Moore Charters!

A great day on the water! We booked an eight-hour salmon and halibut charter and Juneau Charters definitely met our expectations. Captain Mike and deckhand Austin were friendly, personable, and knowledgeable. They got us onto fish and made sure that everyone in out party had a good time, even those who were not really keen on fishing. Austin did a great job cleaning our fish and Mike was a trove of information and history of the Juneau area. I would heartily recommend Juneau charters for your next Juneau fishing adventure.

My husband and I will be coming to Juneau on May 26...is it possible to get in for a 4 hr halibut trip that day?
Written December 26, 2019
We will be in Juneau in August are are interest in fishing. What would be best for this timeframe? Halibut or Salmon?
Written April 18, 2019
August is a great time for both halibut and salmon!
Salmon fishing is a more relaxing style of fishing where you troll along with fishing poles in the rod holders until a salmon bites then you have tons of fun reeling it in. Halibut fishing is a more active hands on you hold the fishing pole all the time jigging on the bottom of the ocean and you can feel the fish biting!
Thanks Capt Grant
