Great time.
We booked this tour direct due to it being sold out via our cruise ship.
Still had plenty of time pre and post tour before our ship's all aboard time.
Tour was great. very informative and learnt alot about the dogs, mushers, and the area.
Really enjoyed the group size of just 11 people on the tour.

Best time ever! We booked this excursion through our cruise line. I had read all the reviews, good and bad, and thought that I was prepared. This was so much better than I had imagined. Meeting the dogs, who were so enthusiastic and obviously loved their 'jobs' was one of the many highlights.
Our guide gave us a briefing on dog sledding and the Iditarod. Showed us the actual sled used and talked about weight and equipment. Very interesting stuff.
We visited in September 2022. No snow on the ground. But we expected that. Even so, the ride was amazing. Those dogs can really run! We had 16 dogs pulling our 4 person cart. What a thrill.
Then we got to see the puppies! Some were several months old and they played on a huge version of a hamster wheel. It was amazing to see these puppies jumping off and on the wheel and running to their hearts content. They are so happy and playful. Next were the little puppies! So cute!!
Our guides were friendly and knowledgeable. We had an awesome time.

This was our favorite excursion of our Alaskan Cruise. The dogs pull the sled amazingly fast and you can tell they really love doing it. Learned a lot about the dogs and the sport. Got to hold some 3 week old puppies. The dogs are happily muddy so YOU will be muddy if you want to pet the team after your ride. Fire pit and hot drinks provided. Beautiful
Suspension bridge over water for some great photos.

We took this tour as part of our cruise to Alaska and because we love dogs. Everyone, from the driver who took us to the camp at the top of the mountain, to the musher who educated us on sled dogs and took us for the ride on the summer sled, was wonderful. Memorable moments were the excellent driving up and back down the mountain, sled dog "Sarge" (!!!!) and cuddling with the puppies at the end of the tour. Very enjoyable time spent learning something different. Would recommend, especially if you love dogs!

Great excursion, my granddaughter picked this tour on our trip to Alaska and we all enjoyed it. Gabe knows the sport and his love for the dogs is apparent. We choose for the sled ride and puppy cuddling but learned a lot about the sport and the dogs, would highly recommend, fun family activity.

Had an awesome time interacting with Alaskan Huskies at the Summer Dogsledding Camp. The dogs are very friendly and love to run. Our musher and dog team took us on a short but exciting run. We then got a chance to cuddle with the puppies. This is an important part of their upbringing and training as it teaches them to interact positively with people.

The drive up the mountain was informative as our driver shared a little history of the areas. As we came around the curve and entered the property you could see all the huskies at their houses. Most were very happy are eagerly wanting to run. The trip was split into a learning experience, then we got to use a summer training sled to let the dogs take us for a pull. When we returned we were able to help the new pups get socialized. Gabe was absolutely amazing explaining how the dogs are kept , fed, and treated through out the summer to prepare as well as the historical importance these dogs serve in Alaska heritage.

A great experience. Our guide was the interesting man, gave a comprehensive overview of dog sledding, personal experiences and the history of dog sledding. Well done Mark King, all the very best for your future endeavours, they don't pay you enough.

My 3 sisters and myself did the summer dog sled camp excursion thru Princess. Our musher was Michaela ( a gal from Toledo Oh ). She was excellent at giving us the history of dog sledding, about discussing the Iditarod, and all about the dogs here in summer camp. She was very patient, very kind with her dogs. This was a excellent excursion.

I learned so much about dog sledding and sled dogs! What a cool experience to be able to watch the strength and control these dogs have be put to the test! The track winds through the Tongass rainforest and yeah it’s not the normal snow playground you would think of, but it’s still beautiful and still an impressive team(s) of sled dogs... plus there’s puppies <3 I had a wonderful time and I enjoyed learning and being a part of the sled dog team for an afternoon. I hope to go back some day soon!

I see an hour time difference in the Skagway versus Juneau Dog Sled Discovery and Mushing camp experience. Looks like the exact same excursion....why is Skagway an hour longer.

Hi ScottnDeb,
I’m afraid I can’t answer that question for you. I only researched ports and therefore places our ship (Celebrity Eclipse) was stopping at. It didn’t include Skagway.
I highly recommend the Juneau Mushers Camp. It’s was fantastic. Have a great trip regardless of what you choose.
Sharon.

How much time do you get with the puppies? That's the part that of course we are most excited about :-)

I agree, it does depend on the amount of people in your group, but they stagger the times so everybody gets a turn for a cuddle. You also get to spend time with the adult dogs in your team.
They are amazing. Have a wonderful time.

How should we dress for this if planning for mid-September? Thanks!

I’d wear comfy shoes that you can walk around all day in (trainers, hiking shoes, not sandals) and of course layers. We were in jeans and windbreakers. It can get cool.
The site can get quite dusty due to the dog runs but doesn’t get too hot as it is surrounded by trees so is quite lovely.
They provide drinks and hand washing facilities - best got chocolate and the hand wash water is warmed - well thought through for chilly days! Just remember they are pretty much off the grid so no electricity and non mains toilet.

If we are renting a car for the day, can we just show up and buy tickets to enter? I do no see a website where can reserve tickets

No, they work with cruise ships excursions or land operators. Don't believe they do "retail" to the general public.

If we plan to drive out there on our own, how much is it per person?

I have the same question! Can you reserve tickets ahead of time if we are renting a car!
Are the puppies on the other side of the suspension bridge? afraid of heights. thanks

Hi, the suspension bridge is an optional photo opportunity, you don't need to cross it to see the puppies!

It’s not required at all. It’s there if you want to do it. Also - not high.
