Gold Rush Dog Tours highlights summer cart-mushing in the picturesque Sheep Creek in Juneau, Alaska. Your approach to dog-camp will bring you by the relics of Juneau's famed mining history, transporting you through the rain forest from sea level to our mountain valley home.

While in camp, you will meet the Handlers and Mushers of Sheep Creek, as well as their teammates, the famed dogs of Alaska's official state sport.

Following proper introductions, dog sled history, and a little mushing 101, you will take to our specially designed trainer carts for a 20-15 minute ride. Be sure to watch for porcupine, eagles, and even the potential black bear along the way.

And then, there's cookies. Upon returning, it's time to crab a cookie and hot cup of cocoa prior to departing ways for your next adventure.

Gold Rush Sled Dogs is ideal for groups and mushers of all ages. We look forward to seeing you this summer, happy tails!

From our Ruby Tuesday Princess ship, we took the Juneau Gold Rush Summer Dog Camp tour. Our family of four comprising G-ma, G-pa and two teenage granddaughters absolutely loved this excursion. Our guide was Mark and he did an excellent job of explaining all aspects of dog sledding and preparing for the Iditarod. The dogs are a sight to see... More

Anticipated a good photo op, cute dogs and some stories. But we got a fascinating look at the sport of sled dog competition. These animals truly are athletes, and the mushers are amazing in their devotion to the dogs! The training regime is amazing (some pro athletes might want to take note...). Maliko Ubl was our guide and was very... More

We picked this as a last minute excursion on our cruise and enjoyed the time spent there. We learned about the dogs, why they don't use Huskies and we're able to play with the dogs as they are very friendly! Went for about a mile ride on what appeared to be an old golf cart that the dogs pull you... More

Hello Andrew N, Thank you for making that last minute choice! We were happy to have you visit us! Our dogs are very unique as they work super hard, but also play hard. Due to the nature of thier lifestyle they must maintain that "skinny" look as it keeps them at their ideal health. Thank you again for joining us... More

We were looking forward to going to Iditarod Dogs' Summer Camp to see what the dogs do for off-season training. We learned about the gold rush, gold mining as it's located at a former mine, mushing, dog breeding, training and care. Our Musher was Maliko Ulb and she was AWESOME. She's a natural with the dogs, great personality with we... More

Alan Stevens was a great guide since he just finished the last Iditarod. He showed us the exhibits of sleds and equipment and shared the stories of his racing adventures. It is an amazing feat and he completed the race on the first try. He introduced us to his dog team and then he and Emily took us for a... More

We visited here during our princess cruise with family. Maliko Ubl was our guide. She was very knowledgeable and you could tell she genuinely cared for and loved the dogs. Our ride in the dog sled was exciting and educational! This was great for our whole group of 8 people! Would definitely do this again!!

Lovely, unusual trip. I did enjoy it but felt it was overpriced. Your not there that long and it is a short helicopter ride to the ice field. The photos they take are really over the top.

Tour begins with a video of the Iditarod race and then moves to a presentation by a multiple Iditarod racer. Very informative about his experience and requirements of this grueling race. The personality change of the dogs once hitched up is incredible. A must see if you do not get to Anchorage or further north.
