Our family of five ranging in age from 13 to 79 booked a full day charter with Adventures in Alaska, and it was perfectly tailored to meet our needs. We had beautiful weather in the morning, and Captain Alan wisely suggested that we travel to fish for halibut first. He put us right on a great spot, and within an hour, all five of us had caught our halibut! Captain Alan and Tanja knew just how to set us up for success. They also took great pictures that will be keepsakes for years to come. As the weather grew cloudy, we traveled toward our salmon fishing area, and we were lucky enough to see a humpback whale breach on the way. We were not as lucky with our salmon efforts, and as the weather worsened, so did our resolve to stay on the water. But, we all agreed it was a fabulous experience in large part due to Captain Alan and Tanja's energy and enthusiasm. Their boat is spotless, and it is clear they take excellent care of their equipment. Their knowledge about fishing and the Juneau area made for a very fun day on the water in this beautiful part of the world. We would highly recommend their charters to anyone looking for a personalized Alaskan experience.

Capt Alan was so flexible with our booking and rebooking due to COVID. The trip was amazing..Capt. Knew right where to find the whales and within minutes we were watching spouts and dives. We then watch hysterical sea lions fighting for a spot in a bouy… both Capt and Tanya provided good information along with a true love for the creatures and their time in Alaskan waters. This was a very personal experience and I highly recommend taking their version of a whale watch. Capt Alan was also excellent in communicating throughout our process and even recommended a reliable can yo get us to his location. Thanks for a most memorable day!!

Fishing for halibut and salmon was on my bucket list. I checked that box—big time! We started the day fishing for halibut and quickly caught our limit as we watched numerous whales around us breach the surface. Breathtaking! Then, we moved on to salmon fishing. The salmon were not biting, but Alan kept changing the depth of the downriggers and the colors of the lures trying to find the combination that would work. He did! We landed to big, beautiful coho salmon.
This trip was everything I imagined and more. The boat was beautiful. It was new and clean, and the fishing equipment was high quality (Shimano). Alan and Tanya love what they do and it shows. If you want to fish for some halibut and/or salmon and hang out with some really great people, I could not recommend Adventures in Alaska with Alan and Tanya enough!

Best part if my trip without a doubt. Booked a 4 hr salmon fishing trip. Not only walked away with 8 salmon but the whales were abundant, humpback and orca, eagle snatching a meal straight from the ocean, sea lions trying to come aboard and steal our catch. Capt Alan and Tanja are most knowledgeable about everything A-Z, are so nice and accommodating. Excellent communication leading up to the day of the trip. HIGHLY recommend you seek Adventures in Alaska if you're in Juneau, you will not be disappointed. Thank you Capt Alan and Tanja for an amazing day.

I’m a local in Juneau, AK and I would recommend Adventures in Alaska with Captain Alan and Tanja to all local and visiting friends and family. The locals running this operation have amazing insight and are always able to provide an amazing experience rain or shine. I’ve been on this boat multiple times with and without kids, in the rain and in the sun, and I have never regretted a minute or penny. This charter truly is a local experience, coming from a born and raised local. I’ve seen it all before and I’d see it all again a million times over again, and Captain Alan makes it a next level experience even for a Juneauite. I can promise you’ll make memories for a lifetime!

Highly recommend a fishing trip w/ Captain Alan and Tanja (to novices and experienced folks). Both were incredibly positive, patient, kind and helpful to our small group. They shared their local knowledge and demonstrated great skills with planning, preparation and handling of the catches.
A good advice is to dress properly as weather on the Auke bay can change drastically with strong wind and drizzle.

We totally recommend people who are interested in going fishing and whale watching in Juneau to try charter boat with Adventures in Alaska. Captain Alan will provide you with one-on-one fishing and whale watching experience; he and his wife, Tanja will remind you that they are there for that reason.
Our family of four had a exceedingly positive experience last Friday(08/06/2021). We saw humpback whales showing off their heads and fins. We were told the chance of seeing killer whales is rare and unlikely but with the patient and hard work from Captain Alan and luck on our side, we saw a family of killer whales; we were so crazy happy. We also caught multiple halibuts and salmon, and our boys lost a couple of fights to both fish; but the whole experience was truly special. Bravo Captain Alan and Tanja who taught our boys how to maintain safety on a boat and have fun with fishing even when it was their first time.

I’m a Juneau local and I’m still blown away by our trip on the Narwhal!
I had family visiting and Captain Alan was able to accommodate our schedule to go fishing, during a busy holiday week.
No time was wasted during our 4 hour charter. Alan knew exactly where to take us while Tanja set up the magical bait! We had 4 lines in the water and it was bite after bite, with Tanja and Alan communicating what to do, every step of the way!!
We caught halibut at one location and salmon at a second location. During our breaks between reeling in fish, we got to soak in the gorgeous scenery, spotted a few whales, while Tanja graciously cleaned off some fish for a couple (okay, a lot!) of awesome photos!
These two were a key part in making this day unforgettable for our family AND for keeping our freezers stocked with fish!! Yum!

we live in juneau, but had never chartered a vessel for fishing or whale watching. so when visiting relatives mentioned they wanted to do something like that we asked a neighbor who owns a boat and a fly fishing shop to recommend someone.
he gave us alan and tanja’s number. we’re glad he did. the experience was fantastic. my in-laws literally had the time of their lives catching big pinks and cohos. later we motored north up the channel and found a large group of humpback whales feeding on herring.
fishing or whale watching, captain alan knew exactly where the action was.
tanja and alan are considerate and helpful guides; willing to share what they know and they work hard to give their guests the opportunity to have the experience they’re hoping for.
tanja was great with our daughter, really enthusiastic and supportive. she was a little doubtful about handling the big reel at first, but not on tanja’s watch. needless to say, she wound up catching the most fish and the biggest coho.
these guys really did give my in-laws a once in a lifetime experience - they’re still talking about it. i can’t recommend captain alan and tanja enough. don’t hesitate if get the chance to go out with them.

This fishing trip had to have been the best thing we did on our short trip to Alaska. While expensive it was worth the splurge. I was worried how it would go with our kids (8 and 10) and if they would get bored. But there was no time to be bored. Tanja was great with the kids, showing them lures and fishing set up. Capt Alan showed my son how to drive the boat and took us to great fishing spots where we quickly caught two halibut. The 3rd came shortly after and our 4th came twice but as we tried to pass it off to my daughter to reel in we lost it. We then caught three beautiful silver salmon. Tanja also was great at taking photos the whole time and showing the kids what to do with the fish after catching them. It was an absolutely magical day on the water, catching fish surrounded by the beautiful Alaskan scenery and Capt Alan and his wife Tanja were the perfect hosts to make the day even more special. It felt like fishing with friends. Highly recommend booking your fishing trip with them.

Hello, We will be on the Ovation Of The Seas on 8 May 2022. Will you have fishing available that day for 2?
Written December 27, 2021
Sorry for the delay. Unfortunately, we don't offer fishing in May due to a lack of fish and the regulations stipulating be can do catch and release fishing.

I am seeing great reviews for your whale watching experience. We are still quite a ways out from our trip but starting the planning stages. July 9th, 2017 we are expected to dock at Juneau at 12:00 pm. We will have a pretty large group, since its so early we don't have an exact count, but between 15-20. Can you accommodate?

We will be in Juneau for a cruise for my big 50 in June. Schedules to there12:30pm-10:00pm. Hi Laura,
Thanks for the message, it would a privilege to bring you out to watch the whales on the day you are in Juneau. We'll need the following information: ship and date, and number in the party so we can address whether we still have availability.
Also the generic "price" depends on whether we can only offer a four hour (total time) tour due to short inport times of some ships, or our normal 4 hour and 30 minute tour. All tours are offered at a lower price/hour on the water than virtually all competitors. We also discount up to $50 for youth 6 - 15 and free (except ground transport fee) for small children. Additional discount is provided for groups of 6 or more adult fares or equivalent, and we offer melding other tours at reduced rates (e.g. Mendenhall Glacier).
If you'd like more information please email us.

The water conditions change constantly but our boat is a catamaran and very stable. We also offer a money back guarantee if you or your wife do get seasick. If you would like more information please send us an email and we'd be happy to answer your questions.

Hi. We are going to be in Juneau for a wedding the middle of August and would like to do some whale watching. Would like to know how far we have to go
to take a tour if we are staying in town. Would we need a car to drive to where your tours are? We are having a hard time deciding the best thing since we
are not on a cruise just in town for a wedding.
Thank you,
